  1. Chair hogs are worse IMO, keep the pot in the designated smoking areas and it doesn't bother me much, chair hogs though, I'd like throw them overboard lol.
  2. The ones on 4 are blocked by the lifeboats but you can see the sea, get some light and see down to deck 3. The ones on 5 are considered obstructed view too, but are classified as obstructed balconies vs obstructed insides. There are two awesome obstructed balconies that are bigger cabins than the rest near the aft of the ship also. They are called premium balcony obstructed view, 5241 & 5243. It makes for three obstructed categories and it can be confusing.
  3. It's very easy to do when you have the drink package lol. You can go to guest services, the casino cage (cash out some of your casino bank money or simply ask for change) or even the machines in the casino (and sometimes in other locations) that break bigger bills and get change for tip money if you run out of small bills. I usually just hit up the bank beforehand but have used those other options as well if I ran low.
  4. This reminds me, I should have added the gym to popular things I skip on a cruise. 😄
  5. Lots of folks wait to buy insurance until closer to the sail date, often the cancellation fee can be less than insurance so it makes sense to wait. This is a valid point though in these times, buying insurance earlier and making sure it has coverage for default is probably a good idea for any far-off cruises.
  6. I'd go for it without hesitation. You can always go down to deck 3 if you want to look down into the water or feel closer to the ocean; 10,11,12 also but not as close to the water. Great ship! I would choose a forward cabin as well, quick elevator service and very convenient for lots of things.
  7. These are the type clowns that ruin it for everyone else and make folks not want to sail again. What a frustrating experience, just the kind of person you want to make walk the plank or hope gets left behind at the next port. Completely inconsiderate and the reason we can't have nice things/experiences.
  8. Bring cash next time, you'll notice a difference. Signing the slip gets pooled like the rest, cash goes in their pockets directly and is a direct on-the-spot reward. They can use this to buy their own drink later, for internet to connect back home or to buy sundries to make their contract more comfortable. Cash is king! 😉
  9. Fancy! And all that space, you can actually walk between rows! 😍
  10. Order a few more drinks and kick back and relax. I'm generally on island time when I'm cruising lol.
  11. Some nice breweries there too! All within walking distance.
  12. This would be great! It would also help elevate their product in an easy to do fashion. If people have better experiences they will tell others about how nice it was. Constantly having to battle to find a lounger or chair is certainly frustrating and all the folks who openly tout about going to the dollar tree or thrift store to buy a cheap book/sunglasses to reserve a chair, even more so. Hope they actually do it and then people can see/report real results.
  13. I'll bet they are much much unhappy about that over on that sub-forum. 😁
  14. No spin, it's in plain English. Why would they even mention it if were a collateral free unsecured loan? It makes no sense. Just because they will continue to be operated by Carnival and it's subsidiaries does not mean they remain unencumbered, you can bet they are encumbered now. It actually sounds more like a disguised leasing arrangement than a unsecured loan. "will contribute 12 unencumbered vessels to the Issuer"
  15. I sincerely hope the industry moves away from the floating mall concept. Or at minimum, keeps bringing open design options online (more sea, sky, sunshine views and fresh air). The Prima class has some interesting features but I think the speedway is a waste of space and a low capacity entertainment option (much like wave rider/rock wall on RCI). I also dislike the ship-within-a-ship concept all together, if it's so awesome then make it ship wide so everyone can have a better experience and more space. I'd rather they charge a bit more to aggregate the cost and improve space ratios and experience on board for everyone; the ship-within-a-ship is a race-to-the-bottom trick that makes everyone end up with less space in the end. It's designed to make you think that without coach there would be no first class, but the reality is that without first class there would be no coach.
  16. Semantics, those ships are collateral or a lease with option to buy back, either way, the ships are on the line. "In connection with the offering of the Senior Priority Notes, the Company and its subsidiaries will contribute 12 unencumbered vessels to the Issuer, with each of these vessels continuing to be operated under one of the Company's, Carnival plc's or one of their subsidiaries' brands."
  17. If you go and get it yourself it's up to you, if it's just handing you a beer or something then I can see not adding extra but it's always a good idea to tip for service when the runners go get you something. It rewards them for their personal effort and will ensure they return to that section or come looking for you, especially If you are in an out of the way place or up on a different level ect; and as Megan pointed out, it can also help get you better service at crowded bars and/or more generous pours on occasion.
  18. According this article they are pledged as part of the deal. "As part of the bond deal, Carnival’s parent company has transferred to a subsidiary 12 vessels, most of which became operational in the past two years and have a combined value of $8.2bn, which will issue the bond with the ships as collateral." https://www.ft.com/content/bb89b17f-aac9-45cb-865c-5995a7594d9c Is this not correct?
  19. Sounds like the last 12 that weren't already leveraged somehow. Makes sense to get as much as you can against them now, out ahead of the other companies, as I'm sure being the first to the table will yield better results. Worst case scenario is "here are the keys, come get it"; that and if the dominoes really start to fall and there are glut of ships headed to the braking scrapyards, the price will surely fall. Remember during the pandemic rates fell as low as $90 a ton. Who else will operate these ships? Seems like a smart move, all things considered, buys a bit of breathing room and a short-term reprieve to continue to scramble.
  20. They issued plenty of shares previously as well. I was referencing Intrepid with regard to share price. https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/27886-carnival-to-issue-1-billion-of-new-stock.html
  21. Price isn't everything, you have to account for the huge increase in shares that water down the rest. You can end up paying more for less if you only factor in price and not apples to apples.
  22. Interesting read here, 51% according to this evaluation: https://www.macroaxis.com/invest/ratio/CCL/Probability-Of-Bankruptcy
  23. People have short-term memories and when it comes down to brass tacks and folks are comparing apples-apples, saving money or getting more value for it are all that matters in the end. It's definitely a concern though if people "feel" unsafe, even if they actually aren't. That can hurt for a while to be sure.
