  1. Flying saucers too, and the big pink bubble gum that blew huge bubbles would often get stuck on your face or in your hair. Avril
  2. When I saw the news, I was going to ask if the earth moved for you, but obviously not๐Ÿ™‚ Avril
  3. It seems to me, that with the move towards the larger ships the emphasis is now on a floating theme park rather than the classic cruise to different countries. Not my idea of cruising at all. Avril
  4. I know they are John, but which ports were free with RCI? they could also have been those run by the port authority. I only question this as we paid for every shuttle in every port on our 19 night RCI cruise, admittedly it was a fews years ago, so they could now be offering a free shuttle service๐Ÿค” Avril
  5. I hope it's either box 1 and/or box 3๐Ÿคž Avril
  6. P&O have free shuttle service too if the port authorities don't allow passengers to walk to the port entrance. Avril
  7. ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ Avril
  8. I've just found your thread Sarah, and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. You have a way with words that brought your cruise to life. You seem to have had a lovely first cruise, and I'm sure there will be many more. You certainly seem to have the right attitude for cruising. Enjoy your last few days aboard. Avril
  9. Sunny, but breezy here. Where's your lovely picture disappeared to Eddie? Avril
  10. I hope they use more ports too, as Tilbury is difficult for us. Avril
  11. I think it's known as 'sitting on the fence'. Avril
  12. The only reason we avoid inside cabins is because I need the natural light. I never close the bedroom curtains, or in fact any curtains, at home as it makes me feel closed in and 'antsy' Maybe I'm a little claustrophobic, who knows. We all have our own personal reasons for the choices we make, and mine have nothing to do with stigma, just comfort. Avril
  13. I agree Selbourne, we use our balcony all the time. I'm an early riser, and I love to sit quietly with a coffee listening to the sea and watching the day begin. During the day Frank will do some sketching and I read, we also sit out at night with a drink before bed. A balcony also gives a more spacious feel to the cabin. We did try an outside cabin, and it was okay, but I felt closed in I wasn't comfortable at all. So like you Selbourne, no balcony, no cruise. Avril
  14. We have taken the children on many Butlin's holidays at Filey in the late 60's early 70's, and I can definitely state that P&O cruise ships are in no way like like Butlin's. Avril
  15. We're married, we have to have a sense of humour๐Ÿ˜‚ Avril
  16. I disagree. Our marriage is probably 78%๐Ÿ˜ Avril
  17. I also remember the little extras that made a cruise special, but as this is the first cruise for Leesy it won't be a factor. What you've never had you'll never miss. Avril
  18. There's nothing much I can add as you have already been given some excellent advice. The only thing I can add is that first and foremost you need to ask yourself 'What do I personally want from from a holiday?' Whether you would prefer the quiet relaxation and entertainment of the smaller adult only ships, or a more lively atmosphere with plenty of choices to eat, drink and be entertained, will be the main factor in your choice of ship. Research all the ships, and once you've decided on one or two you can carry on from there, one step at a time. Avril
  19. Thunderstorms are a source of entertainment for us, we love to watch them. Unfortunately we only had a little rain overnight so.............๐Ÿ˜’ Avril
  20. Crazy but true story. When mum came to live with us I had the loan of a wheelchair from Age UK, I think?? which,by the way she firmly refused to use. I digress. We were out when it came, so they put it, folded up, in the porch near the frosted glass kitchen door. Mum walked into the kitchen and screamed, and when I saw the the chair I thought 'Oh lord, I'm in for it now!', but it wasn't the chair, Mum thought there was a large dog sitting in the porch. We laughed about it for ages, and she kept asking me when was the RSPCA was coming to pick up the dog. She had a great sense of humour. I miss her. Avril
  21. I see you're learning the cruising tricks already Sarah. Well done๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ Avril
  22. I'm not criticising the package he bought wowzz, which was a lovely thought for his wife's birthday, I was just replying to his joke about the pictures and the TV with one of my own. I actually looked at that package, (thanks for the link kalos) and yes, it's expensive, but it would be nice to take our first step back into the cruising next year with a treat for ourselves. Avril
  23. And too think I felt guilty about putting the biscuits in my bag to nibble on the homeward journey๐Ÿ˜‚ Avril
