Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Right near the dock is the National Bermuda Museum open year round. Walking distance. There are shops at the dockyard. Take a taxi to the Crystal Cave. Check out websites for both places.
  2. We like and have sailed both ships. We are booked on the Epic in February. But as your first time, I would choose the Escape. It has the Waterfront deck which we miss when on the Epic.
  3. Hotel we usually stay at Harrahs but also stayed at Sonesta ES Suites New Orleans Convention Center. Right by WWII Museum. Restaurants-Mother's, Ernst Cafe, Acme Oyster House, Cochon, Johnnys's Po-Boys, Napolean House, Coterie Restaurant & Oyster Bar, the list could go on and on....we LOVE NOLA. For something fun and free to do, visit The Sazerac House for tour. Make reservation online.
  4. Since NCL enforces age restrictions for things such as the teen club, I would assume they do for the comedy shows. Keep in mind an 18+ on sea would be 21+ on dry land.
  5. After you collect luggage there will be a person from NCL in baggage claim with a clipboard. Check in and they will direct you to waiting area for busses. They fill up the busses first come first served. When bus is full, it leaves. If you all want to be together, check in when last person arrives. As for platinum check in, yes there is special line for that. Our experience traveling with my sister who is platinum-she got special check in and her traveling companion in her cabin. They went through a shorter check in line and sat in a different waiting area. We went through our own check in and met up with them on the ship. They got to board slightly before us. So no, the other booking does not benefit.
  6. Just sailed on Getaway in October. The bar advice-Sunset Bar is chill but Sugarcane Mojito Bar has comfy seats, great bartenders, low key entertainment (piano player/singer). Also on deck 8 but in the middle by chandelier. Great place to people watch! Different drink menu at each. Sail away outside consider Spice H2O. You can go to both sides, comfy seating and a bar there to get a drink! If it is cold and you need a place inside, go to Garden Cafe all the way to the back. The questions on dining room reservations-no you do not have to make a reservation but you can so why not? The 3 dining rooms all serve the same dinner menu. The Tropicana Room is a little fancier atmosphere.
  7. Westward (1993) Escape (×2) Epic Breakaway (x2) Getaway Our Westward cabin in 1993 was an inside and no bigger than a closet! But had a fabulous time.
  8. Here's what it looks like hung. This was turned back halfway during the daytime. 2 panels of the 52 wide worked perfectly.
  9. Another tip for buying the curtain panels. On Kohl's website, search curtains (then I chose blackout panels), filter by "price low to high". Be sure to click on each color available as some colors are marked down more. If I were ordering right now, these are available.
  10. Yes the ceilings are magnetic. These hooks work great and then use curtain panels with grommets. I shopped the clearance curtain panels at Kohl's (in store and online) for cheap ones. Bought room darkening/blackout panels in 52w X 84l. 2 panels worked great! Order 2 sets of the hooks. Used 16 or 18 hooks.
  11. We have done New York to Bermuda twice and would go again! Our preference is the large ships. The big advantage of sailing out of New York is not only the NYC skyline but sailing past this lovely lady. Enjoy Bermuda! Be sure to visit Horseshoe Beach, the Crystal Caves, the Bermuda National Museum and the Frog and Onion Pub (just to name a few of our favorites).
  12. Frog and Onion Pub! Love it! Bermuda Fisherman's Stew is signature dish.
  13. We love Bermuda! Been twice and will go back again. Don't know what you have planned but Horseshoe Beach is gorgeous. Beach busses to get you there and back right at the pier (don't need an excursion). Also taxis and water taxi at pier. Crystal Cave worth the trip and visit Swizzle Inn while there within walking distance. Take water taxi over to Hamilton.
  14. Suggestions in Bermuda. National Bermuda Museum is right by the dock. Neat place to tour, low cost and walking distance. It is the fort with the big house you will see.
  15. Included dining rooms-make a reservation and they will create space for large droup. You do not have to check in all at the same time. No self service laundry. Yes to parking at cruise terminal. Snorkel in Bermuda. Bermuda is gorgeous! For added fun, grab a box of Cheerios from the buffet to feed the fish! They all come swimming for them. You can even do this right at the pier. Concierge usually contacted if you have special needs when it comes to boarding or anything else. Priority boarding has a seperate shorter line if you are staying in certain suites, pay extra or have high latitudes status.
