Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Canned guinness is about as exciting as it gets. The offerings are so bland that the local offerings like Hinano become quite appealing. Hinano is pleasant but more of a lager than an IPA
  2. At the risk of stating the obvious, the braille on the atm’s and the ice hulls are probably a tooling issue. It’s more cost effective to purchase the keypads with a redundancy than tell the manufacturer to re tool and only make keypads with no braille. Similarly the ships are presumably more attractive to Windstar with unneeded ice hulls than commissioning/ or purchasing vessels without ice hulls.
  3. Give them a call, they should have an update for you on your refund. Sorry about the choppy seas, we were on the week before you, I guess we got lucky.
  4. arebaj, somewhere on here is a discussion pertaining to booking excursions before you sail (with a credit card), and then obtaining a refund and using your OBC instead . The idea is that you get to avoid being disappointed once on board due to an excursion being sold out.
  5. That sounds like a decent credit, $600 each? Can it be used on drinks, gratuities? Approximately how much out of pocket were you to begin with after your Tahiti cruise was cancelled? And do you feel “taken care of” Thanks in advance
  6. empathy clearly not your strong suit. Award ticketing is not available to the OP till next year. This cruise was canx in favor of a charter within 120 days of sailing. Who does that?
  7. you are allowed to bring 2 or 3 (if cruise is over 8 days) bottles of wine only, at embarkation . You may also buy more wine at ports of call and bring it on board. Any of the wine you bring to dinner should be charged a $15 corkage fee per bottle. The Wind Surf has a sign on the wall where you board the ship that says “maximum 2 bottles of wine to be brought on board per week”. I have no idea how they enforce that, they certainly didn’t when we were on board earlier this month. FYI the all in package includes gratuities in the $89 and also includes the hotel $16 per day gratuity. Based on what you wrote though, I would look at a 30 day data cruise package from your phone carrier and or Windstar’s internet offerings.
  8. just back from the windsurf. People do nearly always respect the dress code. Unfortunately the exceptions stick out like sore thumbs. Candles the other night had a diner in swim shorts, another fella with his cowboy hat on, and a third diner, big guy, in a singlet. I wasn’t impressed.
  9. just back from wind surf, laundry done very nicely.
  10. just for clarification, they are juliet balconies.
  11. thanks crewsweeper. Are you saying that most posters on this board have sxm formalities handled by the cruise line? I asked about the airport because many cruise critic posters use sxm independent of the cruise line for arrival and departure, in addition to embarking and disembarking the island by ship.
  12. I have a couple of questions about The airport. Can U.S citizens check in online for flights back to the U.S. on American and or Jetblue? If not are there self serve kiosks at the airport that allow check in? We are traveling with carry on luggage only and may have to dash from Jetblue to American, so can anyone advise if both carriers are in the same terminal? I know there has been a lot of construction at the airport recently so I understand things are a little in flux at the moment. Many thanks.
  13. Well we were pleased to discover that the Nelson dockyard was open on Sunday 10 th March. Also the staff at Lucky Eddi’s sports bar bent over backwards to accommodate me regarding an event I wanted to view.
