  1. No I haven’t been for many years that would be interesting . I was diverted through Dorchester the other day due to 303 being closed and I had forgotten what a lovely town it was. Definitely need to schedule a trip.
  2. Yes I totally agree but not really so interesting when you only live a few miles away 😂😂🚢
  3. I agree but I live on the edge of the New Forest near Ringwood. Go to Castlepoint most Saturdays ! One daughter is laughing as she said perhaps I can do an excursion to Salisbury and meet her for lunch 😂🚢
  4. Not loving Portland. Would have preferred Falmouth. I was looking forward to Zeebrugge and as I missed it at Christmas because of the weather. No Shuttle bus either at Cherbourg to the hyper market which I have done before. Looks like 2 days onboard enjoying the lovely QM.
  5. You will enjoy that they are very good and an ideal way to see if you like QM2 I have done 4 nights as part of a 2 X2 but can highly recommend as will many other folk on here.
  6. Nationwide have very good travel insurance as part of one of their monthly fee accounts. Many folk on here have opened one just for the travel insurance and the fact the debit card attracts no fees when using abroad and the exchange rate for purchases and cash withdrawals is very favourable.
  7. I was on the same crossing as Paul and Carole so I feel it was fair and valid observations.
  8. Upgrades are handled by a third party. They are just hedging their bets in case their are any cancellations. Just because you are offered a chance to bid for an upgrade it doesn’t necessarily mean you will be offered one or there are any available cabins. Similarly there will be folk waitlisted for sold out voyages who hope to be offered something.
  9. Try watching Paul and Carole love to travel. They did a QM2 T A last summer and loved it. Much more positive and gave a much more balanced impression. They sail Cunard quite a bit.
  10. Must be killing time still seems going Eastwards
  11. CruiseMapper had her going sharp right Eastwards
  12. Oh I am sorry your Diamond lunch was disappointing . Where did you go ? Can we go anywhere ? I wouldn’t like some of the other restaurants and am happy with Verandah as an option on the others. Glad you are enjoying the MDR dining experience on Queen Anne and sounds like you have met some pleasant friends. I only go with P &O once a year and nothing currently booked. Had no problems on Britannia with a table for one at breakfast and the odd lunch last May and was fixed late in the evening.
  13. I too am an only child I think that’s what makes me so independent. I have also had a career involving constant interaction with children and adults. Now I am retired I am happy to take a back seat and just people watch from a distance. That’s why I think cruising is such a great experience for me. I have never once felt lonely or bored onboard. If I really wanted to meet people I am sure I could find opportunities but for the moment I am happy to do my own thing.
  14. Yes I have used mine 20 plus times and they are still going strong.
  15. I buy a first class train ticket so I know I will get a seat to myself. Hate sharing. Would not share a table in MDR. If my request for a solo table could not be met I would go to the buffet. My two daughters and their partners would hate to share and ask for a table for 2.
  16. Thank you didn’t realise that. Thank you for clarification.
  17. Don’t forget the money is shared out with all crew, laundry, galley engine room, maintenance, waste disposal and too many other behind the scenes folk to mention. They are all equally deserving in my opinion and easy to overlook.
  18. Looking forward to using these outdoor spaces. I can live without the views. I only walk round the deck early morning for exercise. I enjoy people watching rather then just sitting on my own balcony but apparently the deck 4 ones are much larger. I wonder if anyone would notice me moving a lounger. Annoyingly on the HAL ships deck 4 rooms come with loungers.
  19. They will both be very British in terms in terms of atmosphere and offerings. Neither ship will have an international demographic.
  20. You have misunderstood. I previously always took the £40 a year extra cruise cover for missed ports etc. If now it’s going to be £27 or more extra per cruise based on last year and what I have booked it is going to be around extra £160 + a year just for extra cruise cover plus the £150 for the bank account basic cover. Perhaps I am naive and will not get full annual cruise cover for less than £300 a year in which case I will stay with Nationwide and just purchase the cruise cover each cruise that I take. Having previously benefited from the returns from missed port insurance I would not consider not having it included in whatever policy I cruised with.
  21. Thank you . I can’t see it will be value money for me. I renew in October and I think I will end up just taking out an annual policy elsewhere when I factor in the £13 a month for the account and potentially £27 to £40 per cruise it could be more expensive.
  22. Thank you for this I know what to expect in the summer. I only wear dresses so would only hang a cardigan in the short hanging part so like you can be for shoes. Hopefully by the end of July enough people will have asked for extras so should be enough without having to ask. Usually first job steward has to do for me is split the beds. I don’t think in spite of requesting split beds they have ever been done on arrival.
  23. One of the lower rails in non accessible cabins is removable.
