  1. It is a location upgrade within a class of cabins. Not worth much. IMO
  2. OK. I love to cruise the US West Coast, but cruise to where? Mexico, always love a port where the local police carry machine guns and the US travel warning means I have no insurance coverage California, San Diego great as a port. Catalina Island is OK. SFO great. But Monterrey and Santa Barbara are shut. Whales require slow cruising speeds so the 14 day RT to Alaska doesn't work any more. And the short 4 day cruises are not our style.
  3. They just wanted you to feel like you were back home.
  4. Yes Highly suggest looking at each ship to see what venues are on each ship.
  5. With Starlink mid ocean always gas a signal but little bandwidth. To the OP, I have always been able to send photos using the basic wifi package even at North Cape Norway or Elephant Island Antarctica. Super fast, nope. Did it work? Yes. If you find the wifi not acceptable then don't purchase. Have places in Arizona where there is no signal of any type and no Starlink.
  6. Maybe. If adjacent or across the hall yes for under 18. The OP has a 20 year old who is an adult, so yes they can be in their own cabin
  7. You also really need to board to find out what wines they are pouring. Often different wines in Europe. The wines by the glass can even change mid cruise depending on availability.
  8. It is an earlier time to get checked in. Zenith and suites board first thrn everyone else. Not a big deal to board a few minutes earlier.
  9. Asking about the weather months ahead is impossible. Do you know the Captain can change the course to avoid much rough weather. You never know. Drinks vs balcony is a personal choice. Do you tend to lounge in your cabin? Or be in the lounges? Inside ok. Oceanview are a good compromise. Have done some dozen TAs and 3 cruises to Antarctica. Some gave been smooth as glass. On two others was rough enough that some were seasick.
  10. All depends. The location will be announced on a notice left in your cabin before you arrive. No need to stress over where before you board.
  11. Got a younger feel in the Caribbean. On a recent TA the vibe was 60s and cruisers were 70ish.
  12. There is an android version. I use the Samsung version which is exceptional
  13. The two beds are pushed together, thus occupy exactly the same area. Whatever you like.
  14. Interesting. On our last cruise by 9:15 they were paging passengers who were still on board. Those doing a B2B met and had new passes issued at 9am and at this port were allowed to remain on board.
  15. You can get cocktails covered in your classic package if you do not demand premium spirits. Dozens of threads on this. Suggest a search for drink menus and professor cruise.
  16. Got to remember 6-9 hour time difference. So 6pm on board is noon or earlier in the US. Depending on what is happening, lots of tennis or?
  17. If you just want the train then book on your own. Same train. As said little to do in Flam except scenery.
  18. I give the apps (Princess or ???) two trys. At that point I call and will w a it on hold up to 10 minutes. With Princess they have been really good with short hold times and excellent at taking the info over the phone. If that fails I bring my confirmations - TA and Princess - and show up.at the pier. Cannot imagine wasting hours to click on an "I accept. button.
  19. When on board in a full leg cast the maitre d provides me with a table cloth turned into a kilt. Worked fine. Sad to hear shorts etc allowed. On Celebrity shorts (ex Bermuda) are turned away.
  20. Cruise ship employees do not run the embarkation. Locals handle most of those details. Have never seen an embarkation lounge. A roped off area with a few beverages and pastries- yes. Sometimes.
  21. We often book cruises over a year ahead. Specialty restaurants often are full except for very early or late months before the cruise. You can always change once on board.
  22. Look at ALL the Solstace class of ships for your cabin, cabins on the opposite side of the ship, or nearby cabins for comments. If it was needed by someone doubtful they would have assigned it to you. In general have found accessible cabins to be larger and quite comfy.
