  1. No, there is a Haven section in theater in the Prima - lower left as you face the stage. As others have written, you leave from concierge desk in Haven about 30 minutes before show begins.
  2. Thank you, Yvonne, TrumpyNor and Bluesea777 for your beautiful pictures. We were on the Prime in June and went to some of the places you went. However, it might be nice to go to Tromso and some of the places we didn't get to. My husband's ancestors apparently came from the very northern part of Norway on his mother's side.
  3. We only ate once at Indulge. In hindsight, I wouldn't have minded eating there are few more times. It was crowded, but there were a lot of types of food to choose from. We did use the FAS dining and the latitudes' dining at specialty venues. However, we mostly ate inside the Haven, except for one night on the outside of it under the heater. (Weird happening, the one time we ate outside, there were three tables of us having dining in the chill. (I eventually grabbed some towels from the pool area and used them as a blanket; I was cold in Norway.) We discovered that an occupant of one of the other tables and I shared a birthday when they brought out a cake for me. Statistically, the case is good for a group of 25 people for 2 2 have the same birthday, but we were a total of 6 people.)
  4. YVRTeacher, love your pictures of Kirkjufell, especially the one with the reflection of the mountain in the water. BTW, how did the interview go?
  5. Good luck on the job interview. I'm sure you'll do great as since your personality shines through in your posts, it can only be that much better in live.
  6. Usually, you get to pick which of the categories and their subcategories you want to bid on. So you could put in bids for spa balcony, club balcony or spa club balcony and skip the bids on just the balcony.
  7. You should get a few latitude points to make up for the food you didn't get on the Star. BTW, I'll miss not reading your cruise updates. Thanks for the Isafjordur pictures as we were on the Prima in June and didn't get there. Have a wonderful new year in school.
  8. No, you can get into the Haven "complex" without using the elevator. The door doesn't have a big sign on it saying Haven, but you can get in using your key card. The door is heavy, but click on the card reader and you'll get in. We were on the port side of the ship. We'd walk up the 2 flights of the aft stairs to deck 16. Turn left and instead of going right at the wall (right side of cabin16192), you use your key card on the card reader and drag the door open. You'll come in at the "back of the Haven" even though it is forward of most of the stuff in the Haven. After coming through the door, you'll be in a short corridors (not the least bit elegant, I guess they don't expect lots of people to use it), walk a few paces forward, you are forced to turn left and boom, you are in the Haven - no elevator required. (The elevators at the top of the image are for all passengers) The Haven elevators are nearer the bottom.) (Oh, getting off the stairs don't turn right, you'll be trooping throught "staffish" areas. The corridor you enter is behind the restrooms.) So, you don't have to take the Haven elevator, but you do have a short staff feel for maybe 10 feet in the little corridor.
  9. lemon-ster. Uusally, you get Leo-minster or Lominster. You should try the town my sister lives in in Mass. Billerica. Oh, Leominster is the birthplace of Johnny Appleseed, the guy who wandered around planting apple trees in the US Midwest. His real name was John Chapman. BTW, love your pictures of the Faroe Islands. I had to get out a map to find where they are.
  10. Yes, I agree that I'd want to go to the places, the problem is the food pictures. Well, I do need to lose a few pounds, but. (Actually, we'll be on the Star in December, so I am hoping they food staff will have changed for the better. Fingers crossed.) So, I do have to ask, where are you in Central Mass? Leominster is my hometown. If you aren't from Mass, or served in what was Ft. Devens, I challenge you to correctly pronounce Leominster. Before I end, just want to repeat that YVRteacher's photos are stunning.
  11. Are you on the Dec. 22-Jan 7 cruise? If so, we'll also be on board - with a little apprehension after reading about Yvonne's tribulations. Yvonne, I hope things improve YVRTeacher.
  12. Thank you for your persistence. It seems to benefitting you and, as a result, I am hoping that it will benefit me as well because I'll be on the Star in December. Thank you also all your postings. It is a pleasure viewing your pictures, learning from your insights, and getting a chuckle from some of your remarks.
  13. See NCL Latitudes Rewards | Cruise Loyalty Program for latitude benefits and explanations. The dining is number 6. Basically, you get a bottle of wine at one venue and you don't at another. It also explains what menu items you can get and at which retaurants.
  14. We sail on the Star in December - 16 days. I guess I'll be hoping that there will be a different cooking staff or NCL will have heard your words and took them to heart. The presentation looks like something someone who has the opinion "The food is all going to the same place so why make it look great?"
  15. Platinum and above can book 125 days out. Also at 125 days out, you can book if you have a club balcony, and finally if you are in a suite (not club balcony) or Haven you can book 130 days out. See latitude rewards program or frequently asked questions - when can I book dining.
  16. Similarly, Berlin is 2 hours from the port. An advantage of cruising, no need to repack. Think of cruising as a buffet where you get to sample.
  17. Yvonne, there was a musician on the street with the rainbow colors. We were not expecting to hear someone play Hava Nagilah in Reykjavik. Similarly, we were surprised to see a place selling Greek donuts called Loukamades. We visited 5 places in Greece and only in Athens were we able to find loukamades, yet there was a snack shop in Reykjavik, Go figure.
  18. I read every night, including on cruises. I also read while on the treadmill trying to at least counter a few of the extra calories I take in. A few minutes ago, I wrote to an author whose books I read while burning calories on one of the Epic's treadmills in the Haven. The author is from the city where my son, my husband and I all went to college. In her stories, she even talked about the street my husband and son's fraternity is on.. Interesting fact, although my husband were both on campus at the same time, both of us earning bachelor and masters degrees there, we didn't meet until after we'd both left there. We like to tell people we met in Rome, which we did, only it was Rome, NY and now it is off to read to keep up my Amazon Kindle streak.
  19. It is $50 for the first person off an excursion. Free At Sea gives you 1, 2, or 3 specialty dinners depending upon the length of the cruise (you still have to pay the 20% tip), the Premium drink package (individual drinks up to $15 free then the you play the differnce (plus tip), and basic internet.
  20. Yes, the layout is weird. At least once while going down the stairs from the exercise room, I took the first door on the lower deck as we were on the starboard side of the ship. Unfortunately, that door leads to the men's locker room and I am not a man. Fortunately, at 7 AM it was only me and my husband using the exercise room/locker rooms. Weird thing about the locker rooms in the Haven on the Epic, there aren't shower curtains in the stalls and there are doors on either side of the shower stalls. Sorry gentlemen, but that says to me, "Designed by a male."
  21. Yes, they have a selection of breads, yogurts, fish (lox, disguised as roses, and herring), fruit, meats and then there is a menu. I think there is steak and eggs, omlettes, French toast, waffles, etc. The coffee is French press and the oj is squeezed, I believe. In case you haven't seen it, the Haven menu doesn't change.
  22. Yes, Did I beat Gary to the answer? There is a selection of items at the breakfast buffet. Gary (OP) raves about the almond pastries. Personally, I would take more than my share of the lox from the buffet and then I would request a bagel and some lettuce to make a good bagel, lox and cream cheese sandwich. (They don't have lettuce on the buffet.) There is also a menu that you can select from.
  23. Depends on whether you get the full one or the Platinum and up Latitude Rewards one. The latter is free, although the captain gets to say whether or not there is a tour and on the Jun15-25the sailing of the Prima, the captain apparently said "No"
  24. Makes me think of the Peter, Paul, and Mary song Light One Candle.
