  1. Just in case, the title is A Small Light, not A Small Voice.
  2. I at a State Line a long tim ago (previous century) when I lived in Las Cruses, NM. The brisket was very good, as was the cole slaw they served with it there.
  3. Boston has changed so much since I was young adult and moved away. (Also, long enough ago that people commute to Boston from my home town which is 20 miles west of 495). If I hadn't seen the Pru and Hancock out in the distance, I wouldn't have recognized it as being Boston. I guess I should go back more often to see the relatives.
  4. One way to avoid the crowds, even if not staying in the Haven, is to purchase the thermal spa online. No crowd and quiet.
  5. Off topic but relevant because of article in the Washington Post. Graphicguy, as you are location says from sw Ohio. Make sure to stay home this time next year as you should be in the path of totality for a solar eclipse. We saw our first total solar eclipse on our and NCL's Sky's first cruise while south of England. One of the cool things about being on the Sky was that NCL had chartered a helicopter, so when the pilot found a break in the clouds, the captain of the ship maneuvered the ship so that we were able to enjoy totality. We missed the approach of the moon as there were clouds. But totality, the sky was clear and dark. We've already let my BIL know we have dibs on his home near Dayton for the event. A total solar eclipse will sweep over U.S. in one year: April 8, 2024 - The Washington Post
  6. Yes, first they will deduct the $50 and then do the 10% deduction. Online, they will automatically do the deduction. I've only booked tours online I've read on CC from some writes that if you book on board, you may have to remind theexcursion desk people of your discount.
  7. Bird, you always do a good job of explaining the FAS, especially the excursion $50.
  8. If you want to see what cabins are available, do a fake booking. I use NCL's site. Pick the category of cabin. Their program will bring up a cabin for you. Say you want to see a different cabin. It will then bring you to another page. Sometimes you get to pick foreward, midship, and aft and pick a deck, It will show you the available cabins. When I do this, I make sure to logout before I start the process. If you don't, you'll get a message suggesting you complete your selection.
  9. When filling out there form for where you're stressed, write in BIG BOLD Letters, NOT INTERESTED IN BUYING ANYTHING ADDIOTIONAL. Seems to work!
  10. I decided to prep a list of what I might try. This looks right up my alley, especially if it lacks the booze.
  11. From NCL, Internet Package (Free WiFi) Internet package is based on number of nights. 75 minutes per person for 3-6 Day Cruises. 150 minutes per person for 7-11 Day Cruises. 300 minutes per person for 12+ Day Cruises. Offer will be applied to the 1st and 2nd guest in the stateroom. Internet package is per person. Two logins per stateroom. Can be used only on one device at a time. Package is limited to number of minutes and doesn’t allow streaming. Internet package is not available at Great Stirrup Cay or Harvest Caye. Internet package includes activation fee. This is the current plan. But there was an earlier plan which was 250 minutes shared between Guests 1 and 2. If your contract was for the current plan, the Guests 1 and 2 each get 150 minutes. If Guest 1 upgrades to unlimited, then you can both use Guest 1's unlimited minutes, but only one at a time, being sure to sign in as Guest 1. Guest 2 has 150 minutes available.
  12. I am wondering how well all this outdoor space will work in Iceland and Norway? In particular, the food court, where I believe a lot of the seatng is outside. I guess I'll learn in June.
  13. The best kind of flight is uneventful, Thanks for letting me follow your journey.
  14. Thanks for sharing your cruise. We are thinking about doing a Panama Canal cruise.
  15. Our first cruise was the maiden voyage of the Sky. We took the cruise because we would be able to take in the last total eclipse of the 20th century. Because the ship was south of England, NCL sprang for a helicopter to find a spot where the fog wasn't. We didn't see the moon approaching the sun, but just as totality began the ship found a clear area and we were able to experience totality for a few minutes. That was our first total eclipse. Eclipse number 3 will a trip to BIL's in Ohio next April.) Not only did NCL spring for a helicopter to spot an opening, but it also paid to have one of the Apollo 11 astronauts onboard. Of course, back then NCL wasn't part of a holding company. As the Sky was brand new, they were still working on bugs, like delays when flushing the toilet. Of course, freestyle dining did not exist, but we landed up at a table with an NCL rep who gave us lots of great tips. It took us another few years to cruise again, but now that we're semi-retired, we have started to cruise at least annually. Unfortunately for our pocketbook, we've learned about the Haven. Onward to the Prima and its Haven in June.
  16. Figured it out. Somehow I turned email notifications on. Suggestion: if you are following lots of posts, don't turn it on. Hopefully, I turned them off! Oh, years ago, we went with our sons out of NOLA as the older one and his wife were living in Louisiana at the time.
  17. Very strange, I just got two email messages from CC. - on for this post and one for number 273, asking me to write a review. I've never seen that before. Has anyone else received messages from CC liek that? Sorry, CTCruiser, I didn't mean to steal your thunder, but the emails had your two posts attached.
  18. Thank you. It is still good to have on land, though.
  19. Good point, Bird. I knew about the airports, didn't consider cruise ships. I guess hotels could be added to that list also. Thanks. My answer to the need to plug in. Ceptics World International Travel Plug Adapter - Powerful 33.5W with Pd & QC 3.0 Dual USB-C Power - 3 USB Ports Wall Charger Type I C G A Outlets 110V 220V A/C - EU Euro US UK (11-KU) (amazon.com) I like this guy, because it's advertised as working in 150 countries. So on board the ship, it goes into the European outlet and a six USB port Evatronic goes into a US style outlet.
  20. First off, I think slacks when talking long pants that are, I guess, more elegant than jeans. Pants to me could include underwear, so I won't even go there. Anyway, on our honeymoon (a FEW years ago) in St. Croix, the men in the bridal party were in their tuxedo jackets, tuckets shirts, cummerbunds AND matching shorts.
  21. There is no sad comment. Hopefully, it will appear shortly! A) That's a good reason for having travel insurance, (Not that that does any good when you can't necessarily replace what was in the bag while on the ship.) B) Makes me think that maybe we'll do what we did on our 12 say cruise - 1 pack back and a carry on. If "they" don't have it, "they" can't lose it. We do get two free bags of laundry and we can always wait for the mid=cruise sail. Hope your bags turn up soon.
