No but you can upgrade your boarding group to A1-A15. I've had decent luck getting in the Bs if I set my alarm for check in time and can still find seats together on the plane.

Precisely. Or - if you have a child as I do - then you can board b/t the As and the Bs. I told my kid that she's good for something!!!!!

Yep.  Best wishes to you and DD.

It literally made my head explode when I heard that people were now buying cars without spare tires because "nobody ever gets a flat."  A lot of us have lived long enough to know how absurd that is.  Her mission, should she decide to accept it, is to now go onto the internet and widely report that spare tires are a REALLY good idea!  She'll likely go down in flames....

I think the reason is the lack of that extra weight lightens the car's weight for MPG, etc.

A couple of minor issues that could turn into major problems for me:

    • There looks to be a storm next week that could impact my flight to Houston. DTW is generally good at handling snow and ice on the ground, but you never know. I might have to change things around. Stay tuned.
    • I just found out the FAA has put a temporary halt to prevent all 737 MAX 9 aircraft from flying. Guess what plane type is scheduled to be used on my return flight from Houston? Yes it is. 😮 This could be cleared up in a few days, or it could take months for the FAA to be happy. This could cause problems for United, which could cause problems for me and this reservation down the road. Again, stay tuned.

Looks as if United only has about 12 of those planes. It's estimated to take b/t 4-8 hours to inspect each one. You'll probably be okay.

Hello everyone and happy new year!

I have a cabin booked and paid for, I am traveling with a 16 month old. I would like to know if I could add someone to my cabin for free? I paid full price for myself and my 16 month old because I figured that I would add someone at later date because he will be sleeping with me and I will have an extra bed.

First thing is to see if you're in a cabin that can accommodate three people. Makes no difference if you plan on having your baby in your bed with you. If not, you may want to determine if any are available if the 3/4 pax promo still is in effect, etc.

We refer to these cabins as the Fab Four (L107, L108, M107, M108). These are the cabins we book whenever we can get them. Love the huge balconies. We did B2B on the Discovery in November and we were able to use the balcony when sailing from LA to Mexico. It was so nice, warm and not too windy. On the way back to LA it was a little too cold and windy for me when the sun went down but when the sun was out I loved sitting on the balcony, reading and enjoying a coffee drink. If you can get one of these cabins I think you are very lucky.

I did a 26-day cruise in L108. Felt like "Paul" rather than "George," Ringo," or "John."

  6. I've cruise both Disney and Princess - multiple times and enjoyed both - for different reasons. When my daughter was young, she was into Disney stuff so I booked the Disney Fantasy twice (and later the Magic). The Fantasy was a lovely ship and we had a wonderful cabin but I couldn't sleep well at night because the cabins on either side were so loud with numerous children (lots of Disney cabins can hold up to 5 people, etc.). Moreover, kids were running up and down the hallways, screaming, etc. Princess cabins may not be as sparkly, but I sleep like a baby on them. Food on Disney was atrocious, especially in the buffet. Princess food is not terrific but better than Disney's. Disney's productions were spot on and always enjoyable. Princess can be hit or miss. What I didn't get on Disney was peace and quiet. Always a character meet and greet, groups of kids surrounding me, etc. On Princess, I can find quiet time to enjoy the ocean, etc. The worst cabin attendant I've ever had was on Disney. The best - on Princess. So, I found both good and not-so-good on both cruise lines. I cruised on Disney before it jacked up its prices to an ungodly amount. I won't cruise it now because, IMHO, the value isn't there. I have another Princess cruise booked next Christmas as I got, what I consider to be, a good fare.

There seems to be a growing trend toward making innocent people prove they aren't doing anything wrong. It is scary how many people seem to think that the OP should have had to give a lengthy explanation and essentially justify having the gall to travel as a biracial family without preparing to meet absurd challenges. America really shouldn't be that way.

Well said. It's as if some repliers think we should have to prove our "innocence." This is deeply troubling.
