  1. Thanks. They serve cocktails on the tour boat, so renting a car is a non-starter. If I've had even one beer, I won't get behind the wheel.
  2. No, no. I meant I responded earlier saying "thanks." I really appreciate this information. It is really nice to know that I have a solid backup plan. I'll pack this info when we sail. 😎
  3. Yikes!! Sounds best to just avoid Le Bistro!🤣 I can do that!!
  4. 🤣🤣You're funny. Is that what you were going for?
  5. Just stick with the Chief (and his very small number of good friends here on the forum). We'll get you where you need to be to be comfortable AND avoid the pants police. I'm pretty sure we have a couple of those right here in this fine forum.
  6. Don't hold your breath friend. I'm pretty much a slacker these days (and no, that does NOT mean that I put on slacks to go to LeBistro).🤣
  7. Hmmm.... I need to flow chart this and calc some probabilities about what @IAcruisingwas really saying here. That should be fun!
  8. No. It risks having an over-zealous Haven escort take folks to their rooms before they are fully cleared. This is the Haven where folks have extreme ideas about what to expect. It's possible that the previous occupant accidentally left those items and if they were told they couldn't be recovered, their heads would explode and they would tell tales on CC with the inevitable "I'm never sailing NCL again" ending. That was dear Aunt Susie's prized loofa that she willed to me. That was Uncle Joes precious razor that they used to shave him before the surgery. If I were in charge of that area, I most definitely might tell my staff to leave any personal items where they are and to notify me. Then, I get distracted by other equal crises and you have what we have here. Hey, it could happen. I said it was possible. Are you saying that it is not?
  9. It is possible that the room stewards are told not to remove or dispose of personal items left in a room, but to clean around them, report them to their supervisor and let the appropriate staff take care of them.
  10. Believe it or not, there are cruisers who watch for ducks, simply so they can complain about them!! DW and DD are into that duck thing, but for me it's more about finding that elusive Guinness.
  11. Could you define pricey? I just checked and it is $44 Uber / $72 Uber XL from port to Kauai sea tours. This is right now, which is around noon in Kauai. Did you see significantly more than this?
  12. Bingo. I'm a 100% buy and hold total US market index fund investor (I'm sure you meant that the total return of an S&P 500 index fund beats just about every advisor. Heck, I'm sure just the index growth ignoring dividends does as well). That said, I bought those 100 shares of NCL as soon as I got smarter, and I'll have those until I stop cruising. Best dividends anywhere! 😎
  13. I'll bet he could tell @ChiefMateJRKhow he mucked up that four nines reliability thing.🤣
  14. Reducing costs leads to bankruptcy? That doesn't sound quite right.
  15. It's just a 🐀. No deep meaning.🤣
  16. We'll be in Hawaii in April on the Spirit. The ship docks at 8:00 AM and overnights. We're planning to take a Napali Coast boat tour that leaves from Eleele (18 miles, 30 minutes away) at 1:15. Uber/Lyft is pricing out at $50 - $100. Has anybody had problems getting an Uber/Lyft at this terminal? We should have plenty of time if there is a wait. I am also hoping that somebody can confirm Uber/Lyft return availability from Eleele at around 6:00 PM. Thanks. I
  17. We've reserved this one for the first day: Lucky Lady - Deluxe Na Pali Sunset Tour 2024 - Kauai (viator.com) The ship docks at 8:00 and the tour leaves at 1:15. It is a thirty minute drive. I just need to confirm that Uber/Lyft are readily available. The tour is "cheap" compared to many NCL Shorex, and since the ship will overnight there is zero concern about making it back to the ship on time.
  18. Yeah, I think you're the only one. I also think you were making somewhat of a joke to make a point. I don't buy expensive luggage, but I do want quality luggage that won't fail during my holiday. I buy comfortable clothes without regard to appearance. As long as Lands' End stays around, I'm good.😎 As I've shared before, they sell some outstanding 100% Cotton Jersey Knit Sweat Pants (non-cuffed) that look just like those ridiculous black dress "slacks" worn by the slackers (see what I did there) in LeBistro. I only get dirty looks from DD and DW, but if they want me to go to LeBistro with them, that's the way it's going to be.😛
  19. I'm pretty certain that the good Captain Hazelwood isn't allowed on ships anymore. And probably other places as well.
  20. I would like to see pictures of the actual disaster zones. Surely those encountering such tragedy are taking pictures to show to NCL management and their lawyers. Why not post them right here on the internet so that we can all understand the magnitude of this?
  21. Well, now it all makes sense. I aways book steerage and have never had a cabin that wasn't thoroughly cleaned. It seems to be a problem mostly related to the fancy first class rooms. I'll withhold my next thoughts in the interest of staying out of the brig.
  22. I also expect a clean cabin. That is a healthy expectation based upon the fact than I have never been given anything else. We have an occasional report where the steward missed something. What we don't have is the hundreds of thousands of reports where the cabins were thoroughly cleaned. In the IT realm, reliability used to be measured by now many nines. If a process was reliable 99% of the time. It was zero nines. If the process was reliable 99.9999% of the time, it was four nines. I believe that cabin cleaning process is closer to the later. Probably two or three nines (i.e. one failure in ten thousand or one hundred thousand). IOW, we live in a really nice world on a cruise ship but it will never be a perfect world. Sorry to hear that. Also, I really don't believe that. You have been around the world enough to understand and not spoil your cruise. Those who expect and demand perfection, should just stay home. disclaimer: I never worked in IT and may have mucked that up. I did learn it from some very sharp IT guys. Adding a nine tended to increase costs exponentially. The same would happen to our cruise fares.
  23. The OP didn't indicate that they would be on this cruise.
