  1. As you are likely aware, the standard practice for many of us "experts" (🤣) is to use a single FAS at food republic to stuff two people with four items. If you use a Platinum voucher, what the heck are you going to do with those eight items? Maybe travel with a third cruiser (which DW and I do with DD)?
  2. Last April, I booked the first AK sailing of the Bliss. The ship came in empty from Vancouver the night before. I was sitting in the Local with my first beer at about 10:15. FANTASTIC way to start a great B2B, with highlights like meeting my now good friends @graphicguyand Siglo! Am I going to do this again? Oh H$ll yessssss.
  3. Thanks. I really didn't understand Haven deposits (likely because I'll never make one). I did just, for the first time in my life, mock a Haven booking and I'm seeing a >$500 deposit for a cheap, off-season Haven cabin. Now it makes sense why somebody would buy a $500 Haven CN.😎
  4. Thanks. I did not know that. For some reason, I thought it was just twice a normal deposit.
  5. Doesn't the Haven usually sell out? Why would it be more jam-packed during a holiday week cruise? Kids?
  6. I never suggested that it was a "worry." I was just responding to the silly comment that they never ask for them.
  7. This. I'm sure there are exceptional cases, like my best friend for life becomes terminally ill suddenly and he doesn't meet the "family" criteria for insurance. That's when we just bite the bullet and forfeit. Beyond that, like extended warranties it's insurance that most of us really don't need.
  8. They always ask for your eDocs. That guy is just screwing with us. If you don't have them, you probably need to go to the "special" line.
  9. Aren't the Haven deposits just $500 (party of two)? Somebody may need to help me with the math here. Why would I pay $400 for a $500 deposit when I could just pay $250 for two CNs?
  10. This. Folks who are unfortunate to live in cold climates often just can't get their heads around the fact that HOT does not equal "good."
  11. Yep. CFAR is a crazy over-priced thing that most people shouldn't "need."
  12. LOL. I think Covid has more lingering effects on Cruise Line health than human health. Hopefully, they too will soon recover.
  13. Well, maybe? If they have a double up offer, you should be able to use those two CNs. Otherwise, just cash up to $500 and wait until the next double up offer (likely next week). The math is compelling here.
  14. Can't survive? Do you think that they just have the ships docked and running on idle?
  15. Yep. That's why I buy insurance at the same time I make final payment on the NCL cruise. If I can't pass the 60 day preexisting condition lookback and have concerns, I'll just cancel the cruise at that time with no penalty. 😎 Hopefully you realize that you don't need to buy insurance at the time you make a booking.
  16. Well, to be honest, it doesn't weigh a ton. Maybe 50 lbs +/-. About the weight of a full size suitcase. I'll haul that extra "baggage" around forever for the peace of mind (and avoiding the short life, rough ride and cost of run flats). I used to own an S10 with one of those silly donut spares. I bought a steel wheel and cheapo tire at Discount Tires so that I had a real spare tire. Yeah, call me old school (or just plain old, same thing...).
  17. Yes. A passport card is superior to a driver's license in every way. Even a realID license, which I have. I think the guy was brand new. After giving him my license, he scanned my eDocs while comparing with my license. Other than my name, I have no idea what he was comparing. I guess, ostensibly, they ask for eDocs to check your assigned port arrival time, but that's just a guess.
  18. Isn't that the first thing they ask for when you enter the building? Last cruise the guy asked for my eDocs and I gave him that and my passport card. He then, for some strange reason, asked to see my driver's license. Why? Who knows. I think it was his first day on the job.
  19. Yep. We used a SD credit there exactly one time (never again). That food was absolute 💩. Actually, I got that sampler platter that gave you a taste of four of their main items, so it was 💩💩💩💩. The band was good though! 😎
  20. It just shows the out the door prices for the lowest of each cabin category. It in no way reflects demand or actual bookings.
  21. I use the watchlist on CruisePlum. One click and I can see what's going on with pricing for all of my future bookings.😎
  22. Paper tags with staples/tape? That could do it. Or, did you forget to tip the porter?
  23. Supply and demand? The Encore was booking up faster, so they dropped the Bliss prices? When you display that graph on CruisePlum, you can hover your cursor over each line and see the price for specific days.
