FYI, new vax check process for embarkation
Jkaczanowski replied to Bushdog's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Boarded Allure today out of FLL. Granted it was star class, but boarding was the same thing - “are you fully vaccinated? Yes, ok. Can I see your passports?” -
On Oasis in September, you could see the Statue of Liberty from the top deck but we did not sail past it.

Drink Package Doctor's Note
Jkaczanowski replied to RandomUser123's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I don’t drink. No medical reason, I just don’t. No problem calling and getting deluxe for DH and refreshment for me. Agent asked why and I said I haven’t drank in 20 years. It took him some time with me on hold but it wasn’t a problem. -
Do they ever combine the 2 teen groups?
Jkaczanowski replied to megs193's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Teen flowrider, dodgeball, ping pong, mini golf, sometimes also scavenger hunts. Teens look at the schedule posted in the teen club and decide what activities they want to attend. Some of the bigger teen activities will show up on your cruise planner as well -
Do they ever combine the 2 teen groups?
Jkaczanowski replied to megs193's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We were on Oasis in September, Independence in February, Wonder in March, and Adventure in May the teen groups were always combined. My boys were 13 and 15 and all activities were run together. -

16 year old photo ID accepted?
Jkaczanowski replied to tx121's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I don’t think school ID would be accepted. New Hampshire offers non driver IDs starting at age 13 or 14. I think they cost $10. -
If you cruise with your kids I have a ?
Jkaczanowski replied to Kymberlyfarr's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We allowed our kids to start going places by themselves on a ship at about 10 or 11. Granted, it was one of the Disney ships, so a little smaller than an Oasis class. There were also VERY solid rules about where they were allowed to go - public areas only, no staterooms, no adult spaces. -
In-Store Molecular (NAAT) tests
Jkaczanowski replied to jamesnnb's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I just got the same email for Shaws. $69 rapid NAAT for travel. No insurance accepted. -
Great review so far! If you don’t mind me asking, what was your arrival time? Also, Was there a suite check in line at Civi and did you have access to it being in a JS? Also, sounds like you would have gotten to the port around 10:45. Had boarding just started? I’m trying to figure out transfer times from our hotel in Rome for our cruise. Thank you very much! Jenn

When did the gratituites increase?
Jkaczanowski replied to Ex-Airbalancer's topic in Royal Caribbean International
edocs dated 7/22 for 8/21 sailing still reference the $14.50/17.50 amounts so it must have just changed. -

Do you really think the national average is being accurately reported? 8 of us went to Disney late June. 5 of us came home with Covid. 1 addl had Covid in January. Not 1 of those cases were “reported” as all were caught on home tests. With the decrease in the availability of testing, my guess is the number is WAY under counted.

Please share Social 298 experience
Jkaczanowski replied to mook1525's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Success rate - I would say depends on the kid. We were on Oasis in September. At the time, my boys were 15 and 13. There was a meet and greet first night. 13 year old is my social butterfly and makes friends easily. He made a friend he still talks to. 15 year old is more reserved. He enjoyed going to specific events but didn’t make any good friends. Don’t get me wrong, he had a great time. He just prefers rock climbing and flow rider. -
We’re on Odyssey May 2023 out of FCO so I’ve been researching and just booked our flights. Some recent posts showed Civi self disembark starting at 6:30. 1 hour to port and then through FCO. No way I’d do a flight before 11/11:30. In fact, we’re driving down to JFK (4.5 hours), because they have a 12:50 return rather than go out of Boston (1 hour from us) with a 10:30 departure. Also, you’re assuming flight times won’t change between now and June 2023. We’ve flown several times since COVID shut down and I don’t think we’ve had a flight time not change. I wouldn’t do it.

Hotel recommendation for Fort Lauderdale
Jkaczanowski replied to bgoff60's topic in Florida Departures
Even the Hyatt Place looks like it could use some attention. We stayed there in March and the room felt a little run down. Would have been irritated if I spent “full” price - we used valuetrips. -
$500/125 on my Amex Blue. Celebrity on DH’s platinum.

Hi everyone! My family (me, DH, and 2 teen boys) will be cruising out of Citivecchia on May 6th, so are planning on arriving into FCO early morning Thursday, May 4th. Plan is to do the LivItaly all day tour of colosseum and Vatican on the Friday, and walk around Thursday seeing Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, Pantheon, etc., with Galleria Borghese in the late afternoon. I’ve started researching hotels and I see that “family” rooms are limited. Alberto del Senato only has schedule available through 4/30, and only has 2 rooms that will work. Hotel Damaso has no rooms large enough. Singer Palace and Hotel Nazionale are both over $2000. Hotel Navona has 2 rooms large enough - the smaller one is $699.48 (refundable) and the larger is $813 but only is non-refundable. Albergo Santa Chiara has a small quad room for $812. Artemide has a junior suite but schedule only through 2/28 and looks like it will also be about $800. Hotel Smeraldo has a nice family suite for about $844 including breakfast. I also found a Hotel Golden (close to Borghese and 15 minute walk to Trevi with good internet reviews) that has a large 2br suite for about $520 but doesn’t include breakfast. 2 doubles would also work, but the price seems to be more expensive that way. Thoughts? Any experience with Hotel Golden or LivItaly? thanks! Jenn
