I really hope your DH gets stronger and feeling better.  I know from experience that chills and fever are no fun!

Jasper is up in the far north of Georgia, isn't it?  That is quite a lot of rain you got up that way!  DH said this morning we only had 1.2 inches of rain out of the storm.  We are south of Atlanta and North of Macon.

Yes, Jasper is just south of Ellijay and Blue Ridge, (about an hour north of Atlanta). We live on the side of a mountain. I keep meaning to ask what part of GA you live.

Thank you for the good wishes for my husband.

  2. Happy September! I am glad August is over and am looking forward to a much better month.

Thanks to Rich, Roy and all other contributors. I love the daily information and the knowledge I am gaining here.

I am not a fan of maraschino cherries, but love fresh cherries by themselves or in baked goods. I used to write a lot of letters, but now I'm lucky if I get a few Christmas cards sent out. The last time I played was on the deck of the NL Breakaway in March of 2016.

I do love lasagna, eating it and making it. Not sure what will be for dinner tonight.

It is still raining here, but has calmed down. Neighbors in the community who have weather stations are saying we've received 6-8 inches since Monday night.

DH says he feels stronger today, so I am grateful for that. Last night he had the chills and a slight fever so I was worried he was regressing.

Praying and praising for those on the lists.

Stay safe and have a blessed day.

    Good morning all!

Wouldn't really celebrate Cherry Popover Day - not a fan of that stone fruit.  Still have fond memories of hand-written letters both sent and received as a child with 'pen pals' from far away lands.  Learned to play chess as a kid too, but never to the skillful level as some.

Lasagna would be a perfect meal for what will be a cool and dreary day here in NJ.  They predict my area is far enough east that our rainfall totals may reach just 1-2 inches; those further west are facing 6 or more.  Curious to see what is in the Flirtini - if it's fruity flavored, I might need to seek one out.

The cruise my husband and I have planned as our 'Welcome Back' in March 2022 is going to be cancelled.  I have known for a few weeks that it was going to need re-scheduling, but only in part due to the continuing fluid nature of what cruising is right now (I don't mind the masking, and for us the ship is the destination so movement in/around ports isn't a big deal...the testing part is a new twist though).  Truthfully, even if cruising was moving much closer to normal we'd still be rescheduling because....

We found out (and can now share the news) that we are going to be grandparents for the first time!  Our daughter and her husband are expecting, with arrival of the their first child right around the date of the cruise in March.  There's nothing that will keep us away from that event, so we'll delay our return to cruising a bit longer so we can celebrate this milestone.

I will call HAL soon to release the booking - 11 nights on Nieuw Statendam in one of the double-wide verandahs on deck 4 aft - and have my future cruise deposit put back in our account to find another trip down the road to take.

Hope everyone has a good day today!!

    Congratulations! So exciting. 🎊

  4. Good morning. The weather and forecast is the same here as StLousCruisers so we will not be eating outside today.

I do enjoy certain types of trail mix and will make an extra effort to touch someone's heart today.

I don't think I will ever make today's meal, but wouldn't mind trying it.

Japan is definitely on my bucket list. @Sir PMP thank you for the pictures.

DH says he feels better today maybe even like he's turned the corner. I'm hoping the improved sleep is helping.

@mamaofamiI hope you like the new aide.

@cat shepard@mamaofami good luck with your appliance issues.

Prayers for all on the care list and praises for the celebrations.

    Good morning everyone.

Sam left here by ambulance yesterday afternoon. He had chest pain and pain down his arm. The medics asked me to give him 4 baby aspirin to chew as they were on the way. The hospital did blood work, a CAT scan of his chest and an EKG. Everything was normal. They moved him to a room for observation and might do a stress test this AM. If everything is normal, he will come home. Once again, my kids stepped up. I don’t know what I would do without them.

    Stay safe everyone,

    Carol

I am sorry to hear this, Carol. I will be praying everything comes back normal, that he is feeling much better and able to go home today.

  6. Good morning. Thank you for the Daily and lists.

Not a fan of Frankenstein, love toasted marshmallows, I love to walk on the beach, sit and watch the waves and swim in the ocean...it is so healing.

The meal sounds like good ole comfort food.

    The quote is great advice.

DH was feeling better yesterday after a good night sleep except his throat was sore which I think is from all the coughing. He did not sleep as well last night, but says his sore throat is almost non-existent. He says he feels very weak and still short of breath. I told him we should call the doctor's office today to give them an update and see if they have any suggestions. Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts.

@KirkNC Good luck with your move.

Prayers for all on the care list and praises for the celebrations.

Some very good news to share today. We have been enjoying Seattle for the last 2 weeks awaiting the birth of our next granddaughter. DD and dear SIL are proud parents of third daughter born 08/28/2021 @Swedish Hospital, Cherry Hill. All are well. And,  when calling my Mother in AZ to share the great-grandchild news, I learned that nephew Wil, and his group from the 82nd Airborne are safe. Prayers for Graham and Pauline’s Vicar, the best to Sam and his new vaccinated aide, hope for Carol’s insurance outcome, and smiles for Sharon’s Pinnacle Grill breakfast.

    Congratulations!

Wonderful news regarding your nephew, Wil.

  8. Good morning. Thank you for the Daily and lists.

I love that bats eat mosquitoes, as mosquitoes love to bite me. I use lots of herbs, but do like my salt. Love the quote...it's a good reminder.

My Mom used to make lasagna roll ups with spinach. Interested in seeing this recipe.

DH has been sleeping for about 8 hours now and is still asleep so that is good. I can tell by his breathing he is still short of breath, but will find out how he feels when he gets up.

Praying especially for all in the path of Ida and those involved in the Kabul tragedy.

Today will probably be a lazy Sunday as every day is right now and will be until DH is better and strong enough to continue working on our home.

Prayers for those on the care list and praises for those on the celebrations.

    Have a beautiful Sunday.

    Blessings

  9. Hello my new friends.

I have searched this site as well as google and cannot find what BHB stands for...I have seen it used in some posts here.

Also, I am hoping some of you will be so kind as to share with me where you search for your cruises. My husband has always used Vacations to Go, so that is what I look at as well.

Thank you for indulging me as I continue to try to learn this site. I'm finding the search feature somewhat temperamental.

Wishing everyone a great night and can't wait to "see" you all here tomorrow.

    Blessings,

    Julia

  10. Good morning from north Georgia where it is cool and overcast.. Thank you for the Daily, lists and recipes.

I think a bowtie adds something unique.

I have several furbabies who have passed over the bridge.

I very rarely drink alcohol, but do like some red wines. (I really only drink coffee and water.)

    I do enjoy bourbon chicken.

Never been to Suez, looking forward to pictures.

DH had a rough night of coughing. Hoping that subsides soon so he can get more rest.

I haven't left the house in 17 days so I am off to the Farmer's Market and grocery shopping.

Prayers for all and cheers for the celebrations.

    Blessings

  11. Good morning. Thank you for the Daily.

I am a true believer that to not forgive only hurts yourself. As others have mentioned, it isn't always easy, forgiving doesn't mean we have to forget and it is wise to remove toxic people from our lives no matter who it is. Two years ago my DH and I had a conversation and decided that we are no longer going to allow anyone to steal our joy. Unfortunately, that has meant cutting ties with some friends and family who were draining us emotionally.

I love almost all types of seafood, but not in soup or stew so I will pass on today's meal.

@StLouisCruisers beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing.

I have never been to today's destination, but hope to some day.

DH has been suffering from Covid, Delta variant, for almost three weeks, so I will continue taking extra care of him today. He said he actually feels better this morning whereas the last two days he was saying he felt worse than ever. So, I am very grateful to hear him say he feels better and just hope it continues.

Praying for all on the care list. Thinking especially of the families of those who lost loved ones in Kabul.

    Cheers for the celebrations.

    Blessings to all.

Good morning everyone and Happy Thursday!  Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you for your lists Roy.

Great collection of days today and will celebrate Dog Day the most.

As you can see Blue rules the roost.

I have some last minute things to do today before our early flight tomorrow morning so I’m keeping this short. Have a great day everyone!

PS~~I’ll try and post when I can but probably won’t read much of the Daily while I’m gone. I like to disconnect while on vacation. And I’m not a “Live From” type of poster on CC, I’m happier staying here on the Daily.

Have a wonderful cruise. Will be looking forward to reading about it when you return.

Welcome, fellow Georgian!  We've only been here in Georgia 10 years though.  I hope you find Cruise Critic helpful.  😀

Thank you. We bought our home here in 2017, but only moved in March of this year when my husband retired. I have already found Cruise Critic helpful and that's just what I have read on the HAL boards. I can only imagine how much I will learn exploring this site.
