  1. If they're just refreshing paint or decor, etc. it would probably just be a couple of weeks. If they're adding a new restaurant or changing a restaurant or bar venue that require a lot of gutting and rebuild it will be much longer. I forget how long some of the major retools took. (Like the Destiny changing into the Sunshine or the Triumph into the Sunrise)
  2. Yeah the cabins need a bit of refreshing. The TVS are still first gen flats screens and tiny. Our balcony had apparently tried to be refreshed paintwise in quite the slapdash manner. (more paint on the window than all the rust on the dividers)
  3. Just got back. Our shower was 32" from the corner to each outer corner. and 33" to the middle of the curve at the opposite corner from the center. (its a triangle on the two walled sides and curved on the shower curtain side) Small but not terribly small. Showers in the spa were 42" x 42" and had an overhead nozzle and two nozzles on each side. (two at shoulder height and two at hip height)
  4. Just got off her Saturday. Love the Spirit class but Carnival has let her go downhill toThe lifeboat pulleys just below our balcony were so rusty I can't imagine they function anymore. (most of the exterior equipment looked super worn out) Tons of rust on our balcony. (but no holes in the floor like on the Sunshine in September) The interior of the entire ship needs a major overhaul. (blue wave like decor in buffet were so cracked and broken, they should all be removed.) One of the 3 glass elevators was broken through the entire cruise. The theater needs alot of work. Even with all the wear and tear on the class, I'd still prefer to cruise on a Spirit class ship than any of the newer ships. (Mardi Gras, Vista, Dream, etc.) The layout and space around the ship throughout the cruise makes for a much better cruise experience.
  5. If you don't need the measurements too soon, I'lll be on the Pride Sunday in a standard balcony cabin and would be happy to check for you. From the many Carnival cabin categories I've stayed in, I'd say yhe 30 x 30 guesses are right on. 36 x 36 seems larger than any cabin shower I've had. Like somebody stated, if you are anywhere near the spa, the showers there are usually pretty nicely sized. (except on the Sunshine in September they were surprisingly small and in poor conditio)
  6. in our balcony cabin on the Sunshine un September, the TV was mounted tight to the wall. I was shocked at how ancient the first generation (affordable) flat screen TVs look today. Our TV had to be at least a decade old. (probably more like 15)
  7. I've done the snorkeling tour from Nachi years ago. They launch a boat from the dock at Nachi and take you out to a couple of the reef areas off shore. Didn't see any turtles or rays. Saw alot of fish including a 400 pound grouper that swam up behind me and scared the crap out of me. (I'm 6 foot, 280 lbs and he dwarfed me) When i started to look back and saw a shadow that big I thought it was a shark. Saw turtles and tons of wild Rays in Grand Cayman. (thats why everybody goes to Sting Ray City there) Best sea turtle snorkeling I've done was in St. Marteen. (by far) DW stayed on the boat and saw a bunch of them just swimming by. Roatan and Cozumel both had fantastic fish diversity.
  8. DW texted me the list for our cruise on Sunday. Christmas movies- A Christmas Carol, the Grinch, Love Actually, the Holiday, Regular movies - Top Gun :Maverixk, Bullet Train, Jurassic World Dominion, Elvis, the Batman, Minions, Lightyear
  9. Same exact beach as its neighbors, Paradise, Sanchos and Nachi Cocum. None of which have good snorkeling, as a good, sandy beach will not have good snorkeling. (but I know from Nachi I have taken a short boatride out to a reef for good snorkeling before)
  10. Like was said before this is probably the easiest, safest port to book excursion on your own. (except trying to do one on the mainland. Dodgy trying to navigate ferries on your own) Unless you have alot of ship credit to burn or just like overpaying for things, just book excursions in Cozumel after doing a little research in here for what you might be interetsed in.
  11. I'm a grouchy old man now, so its all good. I got the answer I needed. They got to feel a little better about their pathetic little lives by being snarky. Hopefully they are fullfilled now.
  12. No I'm pretty sure we'll get our muster station when we check in, or if not it'll be on the app when we board. But if you know now, that'd great.
  13. "is Celebration tooooooooo big?" Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss
  14. Crossing my fingers for December. DW has at least one from every cruise.
  15. DW and I were trying to get some early prep done for our Pride cruise in 2 weeks from Tampa. Looking at all of our paperwork and all over the website, there is zero mentions of which terminal we are sailing out of. DW googled and one Pride sailing she found was out of terminal 2, another out of terminal 3? If anybody has been since the Pride got to Tampa and knows, it would be helpful.
  16. We are in the same boat. We've been to all the regular "main" ports of call, many, many, many times. But I don't mind so much as I love Cozumel, Grand Cayman and to a lesser extent, Nassau. We have less issues with the port choices than we do with the dilution of the quality of Carnival's product. After seeing your thoughts on moving on from cruising to other vacation options made me realize 2 of our land based vacations in the past 5 years or so have been soooo much better than any of the multitude of cruises we've taken in the same timeframe. Carnival cruises used to be a good value for the money. Now, not as much. (our last booked cruise in 2 weeks will tell the tale) I think at this point, vacationing half as much on land, but having a much more fullfilling, memorable experience is a better way to go for us moving forward. (You may notice up to 2012 we cruised 2-3 times a year. Then we slowed up to save for a vacation to England for DW's 50th and that trip was so much better than our best cruise by a country mile. It may have cost 2-3 times more than a comparable cruise, yet it was 100 times more satisfying.)
  17. Carnival could use the $$$$. Feel free to help them payoff some of their debts.
  18. Just did mine Friday (yesterday) morning at 12:00 and picked my time for December 4th cruise. You might want to go back in and doublecheck, so you don't wind up with some late time.
  19. Excellent. I wasn't trying to poo-poo on Costa Maya, just trying to give an honest assesment of it compared to 2 of the most common western caribbean ports. (Cozumel and Grand Cayman) Just because myself or others feel safe in a particular port, doesn't mean somebody else's safety threshold isn't lower. (Tons of people talk about feeling unsafe in Nassau and I personally love walking around there) Hopefully after hearing everybody's input, you can make an informed decision for yourself and your family.
  20. I would much prefer Carnival milking people for $$$ with this than nickel and dimeing and cutting back on other stuff. I doubt the cabins being ready upon boarding ever comes back since that is from Carnival's insistance on saving money on staffing shortages versus anything covid related.
