  1. NCL balcony cabins have a small Hamilton Beach flat pod style coffee maker. The coffee pods come pre-packaged. They make a single cup. Unless you can find a contraption that lets you make pods with your own coffee, I'm afraid you are out of luck. Update: I looked it up on Amazon. They do have a flat pod maker if you want to go through the trouble and expense.
  2. I was on the very full Getaway in November. People were lining up for dinner at Taste and Savor at least a half hour ahead of opening at 5:30. If you want to get in right away, go early. Same with O'Sheehan's (its not The Local on Getaway) and the chinese joint. There were lines to eat every day. It wasn't a huge problem, just be prepared for it.
  3. They were about the same on the Getaway in November. Glass bottles. Personally, I also had the water in cartons. It was perfectly fine. I think the change to Just Water was a good one.
  4. The biggest thing is no set dining times except for specialty dining. You eat when you want. Just show up and they will seat you as soon as they can. It's usually quick. The dress code is lax with the exception of a couple specialty restaurants. No formal nights, they call them dress up or not nights. Do some people dress up for dinner? Yeah. Do you have to? No. There is not the dress code shaming you see on some of the other lines. Nobody cares. This is freestyle cruising. It's pretty chill. People have fun but it's not party central like CCL. You will find more similarities than differences with daily activities onboard. NCL has some pretty cool bars, venues and shows and you should check them out. You didn't say which ship, so it's hard to be specific. NCL is my favorite for the "vibe" of it. Has it been perfect? No. Does that stop me from sailing with them? Nope! It hasn't been that serious. I don't think I had perfect on CCL or RCCL either. It's been a while for those two but I'll revisit them to compare again some time. You will have a great time on NCL. Each line is what you make of it.
  5. Yep! February. It would be great to have a comfy new bed. I guess we'll see.
  6. We went on the Wine Tasting and Blowhole tour in February while on the Bliss. Ensenada is churning out some decent wine. It was quite nice.
  7. We are boarding Jewel in February for a Panama Canal cruise. I've been sad I didn't book La Cucinal as one of our dining options after our excellent dinner there on the Getaway in November. After reading your review I'm not so sad. Thanks! 😉
  8. I don't know about the Encore, but the Getaway docked at Amber Cove on our cruise mid November.
  9. I got an email from Norwegian yesterday that said they are booking 30 days out. They send out your confirmations by email. After that, you can go directly to the airline to pick seats and pay for luggage if you need to. You cannot change flight times. Do not go by anything you may see on your account prior to getting the email as it may not be final and can be subject to change. It happened to us.
  10. We went in 2 days early in May and stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown. We got there early afternoon. It's a great location for exploring, just a few blocks from the Needle. It was cold and rainy the first day, but we still took the Monorail from the Space Needle to city center and walked down to the market to explore. Found a nice place with great clam chowder. Went back to the hotel and rested. The weather the next day was much better so we walked over to the Space Needle and did the combo ticket with Chihuly Gardens. Then we went back to the hotel and got a recommendation for dinner. Walked a few blocks to a nice mexican restaraunt with great food. We then decided to do laundry and washed everything we had worn those 2 days so they would be fresh for the ship. It was a big reason I booked Holiday Inn. This was a good plan that helped us pack a little less and travel a little lighter. The hotel works with shuttle companies to take you to the pier in the morning. Just ask when checking in. Make sure you book one that has this if you don't want to pay Uber prices. If you choose to stay with one day ahead, depending on your flight, it may just be better to get a hotel near the airport and shuttle from there in the morning.
  11. I wouldn't suppose you'd be kind enough to tell me roughly how many dollars of gambling per cruise it takes to get that? It would be much appreciated. I'm having issues with them not recording all my play which is not helping.
  12. According to the chart LATMET is a short term offer to get "X" amount of money off depending on room class. Did you book an offer like that? The 6 at the end probably corresponds to the offer in some way.
  13. If you read Fstuff1's post above, the reason is clear.
  14. I don't think so. I just watched a ParoDeeJay video on YouTube and they were on Celebrity cruise (a Royal Caribbean owned line) that went to Grand Turk. A lot of lines sail to Grand Turk from what I can tell by checking Google.
  15. I had this happen to me. I had new Silver status, so I started getting 10% off shore excursions. I had booked one shortly before final payment, but instead of taking it off the total I owed for that excursion, it charged the full amount and then put it as a credit on my final billing. Only problem was, it wasn't a credit on my final billing. It was hanging out there while they were trying to process a refund to my credit card. (System glitch, I assume.) Anyway, I made final payment for what it said I owed and the next day I noticed it said I still needed to make final payment, so I looked and there was the tiny amount owing. I put 2 and 2 together pretty quick. They fixed it, but it took a phone call to NCL to straighten it out. This is why nobody should wait till the last minute to make final payment. I was a day away from them canceling my cruise for $8.00.
  16. If I go to NCL's website and click the "learn more" link in the All Cruisers welcome bar at the top I see this: For Sailings on or after September 30, 2022: Canada has removed all COVID-19 entry restrictions for all travelers regardless of citizenship. Guests will no longer have to: submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website provide proof of vaccination undergo pre- or on-arrival testing carry out COVID-19-related quarantine or isolation monitor and report if they develop signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arriving to Canada.
  17. This is not true. We were offered the Westin in Seattle for $190 per night, which was in line with what I could book it for myself if I wanted to stay there. They do not care if you book their hotel or not. We chose to stay elsewhere because we flew in early and I wanted a hotel that had laundry so I could pack less and get on the ship with everything laundered and not deal with that on the ship.
  18. The one and only time we went to Grand Cayman we used Fat Fish Adventures to go jet skiing out to feed the stingrays and snorkel a little. Highly recommend if they still do that. I would not be too concerned about using a private company in Grand Cayman or going to one of the beach clubs by taxi in Cozumel. You'll find it's a very popular thing to do.
  19. I could book higher catagory, but I have to do this as inexpensively as possible to make a go if it with all our other plans. I mean, could we afford to go higher? Sure. Do I want to? Probably not. Maybe I'll like the dark and quiet of inside. Who knows? I also might change my mind. lol
  20. Wow. 50 Years! Congratulations to you both. I guess I should have mentioned that I could book a higher room catagory for more money, but we have several trips in the works and to convince the husband, this one had to be cheap, hence the inside. 😉 I too love to look out in the morning, but the rest of the day, I never spend time in the room. I should be fine...I think. ha ha
  21. This thread is entertaining. My latest offer is $500 Fun Play, $200 obc, free drinks, $100 inside. I have never sailed in an inside and it kind of scares me. I figure all in an 8 Day on the Dream with taxes, fees, gratuities and insurance would be $805 for 2 people. I have not sailed Carnival since 2011 and I'm sure I didn't gamble that much back then. I did win $500 one day. Do they still want it back? LOL I'm trying to decide if I should take advantage of the offer. My husband is firmly against cruising Carnival again, but he's considering it at that price...it's hard to pass up considering today's prices. What to do? What to do?
  22. You are confusing Spice with Vibe. Spice is adults only and does not require a pass. Vibe is adults only and requires a paid pass. All activities in Spice are open to all adults onboard.
  23. I believe the Coast Guard is responsible for migrants found at sea. At some point they will intervene and return them to their home countries.
