  1. I have cruised Carnival and Holland and have never been charged a port tax on drinks, which surprised me when I saw that on another thread and prompted me ask my original question.
  2. First time on NCL line. It appears that NCL nickle and dimes you and has 'hidden fees/charges'. What are the 'surprise' charges I will find on my bill at the end of the cruise? I know I will see the following, is there anything else? Crew appreciation (if not pre-paid) 20% gratuity on food/drink (Does this include complimentary dining? If specialty dining is included in your package, do you still pay the 20%?) Some kind of taxes on drinks while in ports? Is this just US ports or all ports? If I stay on the boat in port, all my drinks will be taxed?) Do you pay extra for movies on demand on the TV? Are there any other charges I can expect (other than purchases I make on the ship?)
  3. New to NCL line and Bliss. I was watching a YouTube video from a travel agent showing the Bliss and I have a couple questions. What shows have a charge? Does the water tubes have a charge? Does the Local Bar & Grill have an a-la-carte charge? Does Teppanyaki have an a-la-carte charge? What is the difference between a balcony and a club balcony room? What times do the shows start? Is there a charge for the Salt room at the spa? Are any parts of the spa free? I'm sure I'll have more questions.
  4. We will be stopping in Acapulco on our Panama Canal cruise in January. The US government recommends no travel there. We are not going to get off the boat. OVERALL RISK : HIGH Currently, the U.S. Department of State is advising that Americans not travel to the Mexican state of Guerrero, where Acapulco is located, due to both high levels of COVID-19 in the country, and rampant crime and kidnapping in Guerrero specifically.
  5. Thanks all. I'm logged in. I was letting my entries be self-populated (I started typing the info and the rest came up and I clicked on it as opposed to finish typing the info). Once I typed all the info in, it took it. I appreciate all your responses.
  6. I am logged in on the computer. When I log in on phone is says my username or password is incorrect. I click on the "forgot username or password". Then is asks for my first, last and email. I fill that in and hit submit. It doesn't submit because I don't receive an email. I put in my husband's information and get the same response.
  7. Downloaded the NCL cruising app. We have booked our January Panama Canal Cruise. It will not sign me in. When I try to go in through the booking number, it only goes up through October. Am I doing something wrong or can you not get into the app until close to sailing? Also, will you have to make reservations for shows like Jersey Boys? or do you just walk in?
  8. Thank you all for your responses. It is much appreciated. Another question ..... How much is laundry service? Is there a place on NCL website that has all this info? I can't seem to find it if it does.
  9. We are new to the NCL line and sailing in a balcony room on the Bliss in January. 1. Do they have shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body soap? If so, what is the brand? 2. Do they have safes in the room? 3. Are there hair dryers? 4. Are there coffee pots? 5. Do they have Mountain Dew? 6. Do they have powered coffee creamer in the restaurants? 7. Do they have gala nights? 8. What is the dress code for dinners? Thanks in advance for your responses.
  10. Since Holland is part of Carnival, if I take a Carnival cruise, do/can I get Holland Mariner credits?
  11. We asked our steward to clear it when we arrived in our room. We found everything in a drawer under the bed. Lol!
  12. Was there 2 weeks ago. No problems with the dock. Our ship docked at the furthest pier.
  13. We were told to download and complete the Verifly app for our Alaskan cruise on the Noordam, 8/28. When we embarked I asked where the Verifly line was. She said, "Oh, you have Verifly? You can go to that guy over there." (He happened to be the next open position.) There was no specific line for Verifly.
  14. Just got off the Noordam on Sunday. The ship is old, but it is updated nicely. The showers are in a tub with a cloth curtain. (keep in mind if you board a Holland ship with the glass enclosure, the toilet is situated in such a way that if you are tall, you have to sit sideways on it because your knees don't fit because of the glass.) The rooms are updated. If you watch videos on YouTube, it shows an old model tv in the corner. They are now mounted on the wall across from the bed. No smoking in the casino. There are designated smoking areas outside. The food was good. No complaints from us. The pre-cruise Covid testing is changing 9/6. Check their website for specific info. Never been on a Celebrity ship so can't compare.
  15. We booked our flight through a Holland agent using Flight Ease. I printed out my information and my name reads Firstmiddle Lastlast (last name should be hyphenated and there is no space between the first and middle name.) My husband's name is listed as Firstmiddle Last. I emailed my consultant and he stated that that is normal and not to worry. When I go on American and United airlines, it has the name listed like above. Am I going to have a problem getting on the plane since the name does not match exactly as my license and/or passport? Has anyone else notice this on their paperwork and have a problem getting on the plane?
  16. Just checked with my pharmacy in Oklahoma City area. She stated that yes it is available without a prescription, but would only dispense with a positive covid test and a kidney function test given within the last year. She stated they do not give it without doctor's script nor did she know of any other pharmacy in the OKC area that did. So check with your doctor to get a script.
  17. I had the same issue. You cannot access it until 30 days prior to your trip. You may have to cancel the trip and reenter the information. I was just able to put in my vac info for our trip the end of August .
  18. OMG! That is hysterical! I'm still laughing!
  19. Thanks. Keeping them on the outside of my luggage and the possibility of theft was my concern.
  20. Just purchased a 4 pack of Apple Air Tags from Amazon. My question, can you put them inside your luggage or do they need to be attached to the outside?
  21. Thank you EM-SK. Just wanted to know what to expect.
  22. Stupid question, but ... I know Canada doesn't have TSA in their airports. What is it like going through the airport in Canada to US. Is it just like US (take off shoes, go through xray, bags get screened, 3oz in liquids in bag, etc)?
  23. Thanks all. Thinking we will either take a cab/Lyft or take the SkyTrain. Not going to cancel that end of the trip since we are using it when we arrive in Anchorage (Airport to hotel). Don't want to get them confused and they end up cancelling both ends.
  24. I was reading a trip report from someone disembarking in Seattle at the end of June. She mentioned that the bus transfer was a total mess. No HAL employees directing people to the buses, the buses not marked, etc. She said everyone was just standing their with their luggage, including those people who were first to disembark an hour prior to her disembarking time. Lucky for her, someone had directed her to a bus and she got to the airport (Seattle). She was also told that those still waiting for a bus had a long wait since the next one coming was at least an hour later. That got me wondering. Has anyone used this service in Vancouver this year, and if so, have you had any problems? I believe we get into port around 7am and figure we would be off the ship around 8am. Our flight is at 12:30. I'm just wondering if we should cancel this service and take a taxi or Lyft to make sure we have enough time to get on our flight. Any comments, recommendations would be appreciated.
