  1. Had some Guinness on the Star in July. Didn't see any NBA, but I wasn't seeking it out so may have missed it.
  2. To add on to tomberly's response, if you are in a suite/haven and decide to do this, I recommend you arrange it in advance. We let the butler know the day prior that we want dinner in the room the next day and at what time. He'll bring the menu to you that morning or early afternoon and get your selections. Come dinner time he'll set the table and serve the dinner course by course. We don't do it often, but it's a nice perk for when you want a quiet dinner alone.
  3. We always just walk out of the terminal and grab a cab or shuttle. There are tons of them waiting. Got a limo once who charged us the same as a cab.
  4. When I was in my mid 30s a friend of ours' 11-year old daughter laughed at me when she saw I was starting to go gray and said "You're old!!!" I smiled at her and said "Yep. But I can order candy over the internet, pay for it with my credit card, and have it delivered right to my front door, so there!" 😄
  5. I've had my mother (almost 80) slammed into by kids jumping down the stairs; my stepfather (walks with a cane) banged into by kids riding the elevator. I've also had an adult (probably about a 6'7" male) walk into my wife who was on crutches at the time. He was facing right in her direction. Nearly knocked her down. I grabbed his arm and said "Watch where you're going you giant a--hole!" He at least had the decency to look ashamed for a second. On the flip side, I've also seen people on mobility scooters run into other passengers. On the Star in July there was a passenger we referred to as the scooter witch, as she purposely hit people who she thought were in her way numerous times. Just because you've never experienced it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
  6. We don't have kids, but we really enjoy the Haven on the Escape. Sailing with two kids, I would recommend avoiding the smaller ships (Gem, Pearl, Dawn, Sky) as the larger ones will have more activities that may interest them.
  7. We eat there every cruise and we pretty much order what we want, and we've never encountered any issues with FAS/Latitudes not covering what we've ordered. Sometimes it's several appetizers to share and two entrees. Sometimes it's several appetizers, soups, and salads. Regardless, no one has ever wagged their finger and said "You can't!"
  8. "Only 36 hours and 12 minutes until this 40% off deal expires and the next 40% off deal starts...but only for three days!" 🤪
  9. LOL! I'm the same with the Latitudes party. "What? Free rum punch and shampain, along with some cheese -n- crackers? Heck yeah we'll be there!" Meanwhile, DW is sitting there going "Um, dummy I mean love of my life, you realize we have the drink package and can pretty much get free food that's better than cheese -n- crackers anywhere, anytime?"
  10. What we found funny was that we went there while visiting some of the smaller whiskey distilleries in the area (and they are definitely small). Their whiskies were decent, but holy cow, the gin was great. Leiper's Fork Distillery is another one in that area that is definitely worth visiting. No gin there, but damned good whiskies.
  11. ...and the last one was six years ago. Surely his opinion on the food in the MDR and the entertainment is more valid than yours, I say, sir! 😲
  12. I'll give you a detailed response about netiquette in October of 2023.
  13. Yes, my SIL ordered just that a few years back on the Escape. She didn't want a big lunch so asked the waiter "Could I just get a grilled cheese sandwich and some fries?" The response was "Of course, ma'am."
  14. It was dead for almost 15 months. Now, it's alive...ALIVE!!!
  15. I can't answer that, but if it's not in the Haven just ask for it. Inform the concierge or restaurant manager ahead of time that you'd like a bottle of it with your dinner in the Haven. They'll get it taken care of. Of course, everyone else in the Haven restaurant will starve to death because of this mundane request. 😄 (A reference to a different thread.)
  16. I turned a 45-year old who had been drinking Jack Daniel's since he was 19 on to Evan Williams with a blind test. When he was done he said "Wow, it's so much smoother than JD." Then his jaw dropped when I said "Yeah, at half the cost." I don't drink gin often, but when I do I drink it over a couple of rocks without tonic. So I usually go with Bombay Sapphire, Hendricks, or Tennessee Dry Gin.
  17. If any of you gin fans live around Franklin, TN or are passing through there, take a detour to H. Clark Distilling and grab a bottle of their Tennessee Dry Gin. You won't be disappointed.
  18. FYI, they posted that 13 months ago.
