  1. This is interesting. I wonder how the expiration date change will affect the resale market on CN? I'm sure it only helps NCL as people hold on to them hoping to use them but then never get around to it.
  2. Don't forget clean towels! If the OP's pic is to be believed it's actually more like $4.90 per day (per person!) given the $20 DSC now. For a family of 4, that's almost $16 per day "just" to make our beds.
  3. WOW. I can't decide if you're serious or seriously trolling. But okay I'll bite. Have you ever been in your stateroom or hotel room and had someone pulling on the door? Or just argue outside your door? I have and it's not annoying per se, but it's also not welcome. I would like to mitigate the chances of this affecting my fellow passengers. It can take many forms because with children a simple don't do that doesn't usually work. Did you always listen to your parents? The kids have been capable of understanding and identifying numbers since 3, counting shortly thereafter. It doesn't mean they take the time to utilize this skill when they're racing. They do this if they have a key card or not to hand. So not a moot point. Maybe you haven't parented young children recently or maybe my kids are different, but they do lose some common sense and manners when they're excited. Adults do too if you haven't noticed, especially when intoxicated. Yeah I'm more than capable of knowing which floor I'm on. But also capable of making an error. In this case I was the only one on the elevator, no other buttons had been pressed and when the door opened there was no one waiting to get on. I was in a hurry and made the wrongful assumption that it stopped on the deck I chose. It's what, a second or two difference in ride time? I found my room and felt like a dork. It didn't take more than me showing down and paying attention. Could happen to anyone. I was being sarcastic about the eyesore, choosing that language only because of a pp. Sorry you didn't understand that. Still, I do find the doors simple and boring. I don't expect them to be different, but I can have my opinion without being questioned about it. From experience, I can say many do feel as I do about multiple cabin decorations. That's why we're even having this topic about having even just something small like a magnet. To add, I've sailed DCL where maybe not the majority, many many doors are elaborately decorated. I've yet to read anyone on a Disney forum describe this as an eyesore.
  4. They wouldn't open it. They would try to open it. And fail. And potentially annoy them in the process.
  5. Personally I think NCL doors are, what was it again? An eyesore and visual pollution? I like the small amount of personality that passengers bring by bringing magnets or other decorations. As long as the reason behind the rule isn't ignored. Fire hazard, really? If there's a fire in stateroom hallways capable of igniting said decorations, NCL has much bigger problems to deal with. I can get behind nothing political, protuding, or small enough to choke upon. One cruise, day 5, stone sober I was walking in a hurry determinedly to my stateroom. It was a full 30 seconds at least before I realized the reason I wasn't finding my room is because I was on the wrong deck. Even if I'm capable of remembering my room # having visual clues helps you more easily identify if you're walking on the right deck on right side of the ship towards the right direction. We also have children who like to race to be first to open the door, no matter how often I remind them not to run on the ship. At least if there's something on our door they're less likely to try to open our unsuspecting neighbors door.
  6. Yeah the coffee is pretty bad anywhere. But at least on NCL you can brew your own in room which is supposedly better. I'm too lazy and impatient for all that.
  7. Disney has really set themselves apart in many key areas. I've only sailed post pandemic and all lines have suffered a loss of service and increase in prices to some degree. The Disney theming and service is a big value add for a lot of people. I know people who aren't huge fans and still rather cruise DCL for the difference in service alone. It's not any one thing, but when you get smiles and greetings from the whole crew, even senior officers, it really adds up and contributes to the whole vibe of the ship. The other thing is for families, staterooms make a big difference. An inside on a budget line is more difficult to manage than an inside on Disney. DCL still has daily towel animals and bunk beds put away every day and turned down every night. I'd rather go inside on Disney then balcony or above on another line and at that point the price differential becomes less. Lastly, vacations are for making memories. DCL is also excellent at setting up those memory making opportunities. When you go home from DCL you're way more sad to be leaving and itching to come back than on any another line, especially if you already love Disney.
  8. When we went Aug 2022 they had 3 different sign up times for a painting class on our 6 night cruise. The spots filled up quick and there was already a long line even 30 min before signups started. I wanna say it was $30pp.
  9. Pools were definitely heated on the Spirit in Alaska. At least the covered one was.
  10. I'm a complainer. Well not really, but a lot of things bother me in the moment and I tend to say something about it. I don't feel I'm complaining, but simply stating how the situation bothers me and letting my emotions be known. I also do the same with positive emotions. Sometimes I'm looking for validation or empathy, but I'm never looking for "compensation." Anyway, not everyone shares their bad experience to put down the cruise line. Stay away, never sail them again, that kinda thing. I like to read all reviews, even the complaints, usually with many grains of salt, because it helps me manage my expectations or prepare and have patience when running into these possible experiences, which in turn leads to a better enjoyment of the cruise once onboard. So yeah go ahead have your cruise, complain in your review if you want. If the internet isn’t a place you can vent your grievances, where is?
  11. Except that if you only buy one CN (and why would you CF is a better value if you only get one) it's neither 50% or BOGO. NCL can't really use those sales terms to describe the entirety of what they're offering. It's up to the consumer to do simple math. OTOH if they could cut the BS and just tell you the OBC can be used to offset the cost and is on the current cruise only not a FCC that would clear things up for a lot of people.
  12. I love how no matter how many cruises we've taken it's still so fun to anticipate the next one. I still get excited for each one, so I completely get starting this live early. And so many sea days!! Hopefully we'll get to book a TA one day too - looking forward to following along on yours.
  13. Nope. Still bad. Even the funfetti is still a cloyingly sweet cake. The teeniest amount of cheesecake doesn't make up of the effort to get to it. Or the amount of wasted cake I won't eat. Besides the smoking smells being unavoidable and poorly placed smoking sections imo, my other pet peeve is all desserts seem to be cake. For someone who doesn't like cakes it can be difficult to find a dessert to enjoy.
  14. DCL allows a 6pk. And unlike Carnival, it's at every port not just embarkation.
  15. Life experience has taught me to always look for the asterisk in any offered pricing, cruises or otherwise.
  16. Anyone recall if these are available during lunch on embarkation day, or if we need to wait until breakfast the next day?
  17. Carnival does allow you to bring a limited amount of beer and wine onboard, too, to consume in your room/balcony. Factor that into whether to get cheers or not.
  18. Those light up boas are like....when you find out something was always missing in your life that you never knew was missing. Must find one now.
  19. That blanket looks cozy!! I always considered asking for one but I kinda assumed they'd just bring me an extra sheet or something.
  20. I can't be the only one that just sees....um... yeah that's a phallus
  21. Book excursions early (if you're planning to) because they can sell out. Also price compare because CCL has a price match if you can find the exact same elsewhere. Don't worry bout flights. Some people on here even recommend driving up the night before in case of traffic or accidents. Everyone's risk tolerance is a little different. I would fly the night before but that's only because I like the departure city to be part of my vacation planning. I treat it something like an extra port day.
  22. Sorry OP. I also would have expected at least an announcement saying we were past it, or an announcement that barf bags would be available, or when it's necessary or not to go to medical. But there's not much you will achieve from complaining to corporate about the communication or lack there or while onboard.
