  1. But unfortunately the majority of the time the staff ignores it and does nothing because they don't want to offend anyone.
  2. Has nothing at all about how much you pay. It's all about the ambiance of the establishment. There is a difference between eating in the steak house versus other locations. There are a certain percentage of cruisers that will push the boundaries whenever possible and more often than not, the cruise lives won't push back because they don't want to make waves.
  3. What about the afgogati with amaretto that was in the previously posted menu? If you have the drinks package, this should be included and count as one of your 15 drinks, similar to how it is if you order an espresso based drink with alcohol. Carnival has milk shakes with alcohol that are included with Cheers. There's one made with coffee ice cream, espresso and Bailey's.
  4. There's a difference regarding where baseball caps are worn. Anytime in the buffet is fine. In the MDR for lunch or dinner is passable. But in a specialty venue for dinner crosses a line, in my opinion. You pay extra for the food and the ambiance in a specialty venue and wearing a baseball cap 🧢 goes against the flow so to speak and is out of place.
  5. It's simple math. Plus is 60, factor out gratuities and it's 44 per day. We consider WiFi as gravy, we never buy it a la carte on any cruise we take, so it's of no value to us. So we get the drinks package with grats for 44 per day, which is cheaper than any other cruise line, especially compared to Royal. If wifi brings value to others, then the 44 is 29 after including wifi. So anything over 29 per day between alcoholic drinks, coffee based drinks, soda and bottled water makes the plus package worth it. There have been reports of teetotalers that still get value from purchasing the package. And I never even mentioned the two visits at Gigi's/Alfredo's. The bottom line is that there are various ways of looking at it and it brings value to different cruisers depending upon which aspects of the package bring value to them. Unless you're a bare bones cruiser that doesn't drink alcohol, brings on their own soda, pays for a case of water, is ok with MDR coffee and doesn't want to eat at Alfredo's. There are ways to please everyone.
  6. This has been a popcorn discussion on various threads with many of the main stream cruise lines. In general, fashion seems to be a little bit more "formal" on the other side of the pond and a little bit more casual on this side. Caribbean and Mexican Riviera cruises are more laid back and the dress accordingly is more casual. Wear pants, wear shorts it doesn't really matter. But, one thing that my father would never allow to be worn at home at the dinner table, let alone in a specialty restaurant is a baseball cap. Saw this in Sabatini's on the Discovery on a Mexican Riviera cruise in April of 2022. There was a group of seven with 3 males all in their 20's wearing baseball caps. Certainly not in their 50's worrying about thinning hair. What someone wears is not going to effect how our meal tastes, but it does in fact change the ambiance of a specialty venue. Baseball caps are against the rules with various lines but it's a crap shoot as to whether it's enforced or not.
  7. On NCL, their drinks package does indeed work when embarking from Galveston. It is of course with the limited menu of alcohol choices purchased in Texas. Have first hand experience on an 11 day repo cruise from Galveston to Miami on the Prima.
  8. Have to fully agree. The one main stream line whose buffet would be better than NCL would be Celebrity.
  9. Discovery Princess April of 2022 for 14 days doing Mexican Riviera and Majestic Princess for 14 days this past summer in Alaska. Never had a problem with getting a Coke Zero. Sprite Zero was much more limited. Had them every night in the MDR with dinner as well as in the MDR for sea day lunch and also at Gigi's on the Discovery and Alfredo's on the Majestic. Even had them from Good Spirits at Sea at the end of the night to take back to the cabin.
  10. We will enjoy all the Coke Zero we care to consume on our future cruises on the Enchanted (28), Sun (28) and Discovery (7) through the Plus program.
  11. Must have been pre Covid since Pepsi products have been on Carnival since just before the shutdown. They have Pepsi and Starry Zero.
  12. Just sail on one of the newer ships in the fleet and they should have Coke Zero. 14 days on the Discovery and another 14 on the Majestic, all the Coke Zero my DH and I wanted.
  13. Let into your cabin early because you use a walker? They don't let me in with my scooter, so you have your answer.
  14. Spent 14 days on the Discovery in April of 2022. Spent another 14 days on the Majestic in May/June of 2023. On both cruises we enjoyed cans of Coke Zero as much as we wanted. Sprite Zero was more difficult to come by, but my DH did enjoy a few cans of it. I would infer that the newer ships in the fleet carry more items at times.
  15. Real easy, it's embarkation day so you just don't eat breakfast. Lunch at noon, dinner at 600
  16. There are 15 other smaller ships in the fleet that obviously must be to your liking. Nobody is twisting your arm to cruise on the Sun or the Star.
  17. All of the canned sodas are included. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Zero, Mt Dew, Diet Mt Dew, Ginger Ale, Root Beer, Orange, Starry, Starry Zero, Club Soda. Mr Pibb from Galveston I believe as well.
  18. As Sparks mentioned it's for short cruises only. Check out what RCI charges with their dynamic pricing policy that fluctuates depending upon ship, time of year and length of cruise. Carnival's pricing is cheaper.
  19. Disney...you pay three times as much for the cruise, but you get to bring on a six pack at each port. If I was offered a free cruise on Disney, I'd turn it down. Too many Rugrats.
  20. Come to think of it, since there are five of you depending upon how much luggage and carry ons you have should determine whether you would need 2 UberXL's or possibly 1 regular and one XL. The regular one is cheaper and will accommodate two with luggage, leaving the other 3 for the XL version. Unless you have a lot of luggage, a regular and a XL should accommodate the 5 of you.
  21. Over 900 K gone, down to a lone single point. 😥😭. Keeping fingers crossed with the cash and Walmart sweepstakes.
  22. The usually included juices in the MDR for breakfast are orange, grapefruit, pineapple, apple and tomato. Cranberry is usually only available at a bar and would be free with Cheers.
  23. Which cruise line currently allows you to bring on beer when embarking from a US based port?
