  1. A quick Google search will mention that "the kitchen " is a seven foot section from the net where players are not allowed to be standing in order to be near the net in order to slam the ball back towards their opponents. In general, pickleball is a hybrid of tennis and ping pong played in a miniature sized tennis court. Games are either singles or more often doubles. Very popular in the retirement communities and have since expanded elsewhere.
  2. In order for it to really work, there needs to be a dedicated space for it instead of trying to use the basketball court and turn it into a multi use set up. If there is a dedicated spot and there are Carnival fun team members that know the rules and can educate newbies about the game, it would add to the cruise experience. NCL has dedicated space within a fenced in area to keep from losing balls on their newest ship, the Prima and will have it as well on it's sister ship the Viva.
  3. Wow. NCL's solo cabins are nowhere near 90% of what two would pay and seems to be the best solo value.
  4. NCL, RCI and Celebrity all have solo cabins on many of their newer ships, some even have balconies.
  5. It's certainly a first world dilemma when it comes to snacks left in your ship within a ship suite. In general, the MSC YC is cheaper than the Haven unless there is a last minute deal to fill cabins.
  6. I realize that there is a disparity with Disney in that they have an adults only pool area as well as an adults only restaurant, but being locked into only two areas to avoid the kids would be a pain. We don't mind well behaved children, but unruly rug rats are another thing and having them on Disney would surely have them taking it up a notch.
  7. No, your finest quality is the young lady you brought into the world, who was here after "America's Team" won their last ring.
  8. When you're on a larger ship, it's up to you to see the ocean or not. As SRQbeachgirl showed in her previous post by the picture she downloaded, there are certain areas of the ship that even though you're inside, you can still she the ocean. If you prefer the feeling of being at sea all of the time you can stick to the 100 K or smaller ships, but I feel that the larger ships provide more things to do, have more entertainment options, more food options and more bars. The last time we were on a ship under 100 K was over 12 years and 30+ cruises ago on the Spirit doing the Mexican Riviera. There is no right or wrong answer, but for us at this time the smaller ships are in our rear view mirror.
  9. Many Carnival cruisers have the same mind set. They obviously have never sailed on one of the newer builds from NCL or RCI that are bigger than the 133.5 K of the Vista Class or substantially bigger that the 110 K tons of the Conquest Class. When the ships are bigger, you obviously deal with more people but at the same time you also have more space to spread these people out and you also have more options regarding things to do. The passenger to space ratio is better on the Oasis Class than the Excel Class, but all of the options on the Excel Class raises the bar compared to the rest of the ships in the fleet. Some cruisers are happy with the ships they have had good past vacations on and don't want to change. As a stock holder, this makes me happy. On the other hand, some cruisers like to evolve and hopefully they try out the Excel Class before they move on to other lines. With all of the options added compared to the rest of the fleet, they're missing out if they don't cruise on one of them at least one time.
  10. This and paying for Cheers will get me a drink on our 10 day sailing of the Venezia over Memorial Day 2024.
  11. The sweet n sour shrimp is normally on the first night. The lobster 🦞 is now on the second elegant night, which is usually night 6. Post covid there is only a single dessert that changes daily. Each night there is WCMC, ice cream, cheese, & sugar free option. But only one other choice such as creme brulee, Grand Marnier souffle, Baked Alaska, etc.
  12. Could not agree more. This year we will be cruising on Carnival, NCL, RCI, Princess, MSC and Celebrity embarking from Miami, Port Canaveral, Bayonne, Vancouver, Brooklyn & Fort Lauderdale.
  13. I will infer from where the OP got their advice and concur that Carnival stepped up their game with the introduction of the two ships of the Excel Class. It's a step up over the rest of the fleet with the sole exception of the Havana area, which is where the OP will be staying.
  14. They used to include it in all of the venues. But then added it to Teppanyaki, I would assume because of the entertainment value of the cookery. No idea about the Chef's Table, never went there.
  15. Yes, Onda by Scarpetta. I mentioned the venue at the beginning of the post and then posted links to the actual menus. We went to that venue twice on our 7 day Encore cruise and 4 times during our 25 days over three different cruises on the Prima. Excellent venue.
  16. After perusing the menu, we'll be passing. Onda by Scarpetta is an optional Italian specialty venue on a few of the NCL ships (Encore, Prima, Viva) and provides a much better offering and their veal milanese doesn't have a $20.00 upcharge that this new venue on the Venezia has. https://eatsleepcruise.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/onda-1.jpg.optimal.jpg https://eatsleepcruise.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/onda-2-1.jpeg.optimal.jpeg https://eatsleepcruise.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/onda-dessert-3.jpeg.optimal.jpeg Above are links to the actual menu. Most cruisers use a specialty meal credit, so you can ignore the pricing. But, as a couple you could get a pizza and an app or two apps, a pasta dish pp, an entree pp, a side pp and a dessert pp.
  17. It's Costa by Carnival on an Italian influenced ship called the Venezia, which if you can look at the spelling implies Venice, so there is a full sized gondola on board. So, it goes without saying that there will be a top end Italian restaurant on board. Please educate us with what your best case scenario would be regarding "something that's actually interesting."
  18. How about the last four numbers of your SS number or the four digits that correspond to the month and day of your birth? Even if you had Cheers and drank 15, you can still remember those numbers. 😉
  19. We all survived shrimp-gate a few years ago before Covid, so we can too survive the fact that the fries at Guy's are no longer fresh cut with skins on and they are now plain frozen ones. If you want the best fries on board even compared to the old ones from Guy's, get a batch right out of the hot oil from Shaq's.....you'll thank me later.
