Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Well we saw plenty of fresh food being loaded at Southampton, at Alesund and Reykjavik.
  2. The tomato soup and the consommes were delicious, I had tomato soup most nights. Plenty of pudding choice ( 3 every night plus ice cream ) and I didn't think they were flavourless. We had apple pie, poached pear, sticky toffee pudding, baked cheesecake, baked Alaska, chocolate mousse, meringues with tropical fruit, grilled pineapple etc. You say one other dish, you mean one other meat dish, plus a fish dish and the vegetarian choices. We had a vegetable Morrocan tagine one night which was delicious. Some of the other dishes I remember Greek lamb meatballs, pasta dishes, goan curry, lentil Dahl, Asian stir fry, several different types of pie. Fish choices were varied and included, trout, lobster, baked cod, plaice, lemon sole, John dory, salmon, cod in batter, hake, a seafood risotto. I thought food was pretty good. I've had far worse meals in restaurants that I've paid a lot of money for including one of the worst meals ever in a Rick Stein restaurant in Padstow.
  3. That happened to me a lot. It worked intermittently yet hubby's worked fine. I gave up in the end as it was frustrating. I just looked at hubby's phone mostly for the drink menus, venues for activities and to check our onboard account spend.
  4. We had fried bread on Aurora in August 2022.
  5. Menus are posted on boards outside the restaurants., we'll that was our experience on Aurora in August 2022. On Saga menus are available on the in cabin TV.
  6. Interesting, our experience was different. We were on Aurora in August for 3 weeks and we both were happy with the choices. A different main fish dish every night was on offer for 2 weeks. The menu was repeated for week 3 but that wasn't an issue as some nights there was more than one option that I could have chosen. Hubby was pleased with the choices of curries, dhals, stir fries etc both in the MDR and the buffet. I am a fussy eater but never struggled to find something to eat. I thought the buffet was very good with a wide selection at lunch time. We are both meat / fish eaters but we're happy with the options. The steak I had one night was one of the best I have ever eaten. No mean feat given the numbers of people on the ship.
  7. Dun Laoghaire is in Republic of Ireland so its not part of the UK and not subject to the same rules as Northern Ireland
  8. If the cruise starts in the UK but does not stop at other UK ports, alcohol can be served duty free. If its a round Britain trip then tax and alcohol duty have to be paid. Other cruise lines either charge customers the extra tax or absorb the cost themselves. Probably passing the cost on through increased charges for trips etc.
  9. Yes that is the same as on Aurora recently plus the sanitising of public areas on ghe ship.
  10. The free coffee is dire. I took my own coffee for the cabin.
  11. No need for an observed test. You can look up latest information re testing and vaccination on the website. https://www.pocruises.com/cruise-with-confidence/preparing-to-sail
  12. From what I remember you both have to have the drinks package. I agree about the non alcoholic packages. Limiting if you don't like fizzy pop.We didn't bother and just pay as you go which worked out fine for us as we had increased OBC, and didn't used it all by the end of the cruise.
