Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We were on the Summit years ago sailing to Bermuda with Captain Kate. Loved it! We will be sailing on Summit again in June 2024 to Alaska. Can't wait to see the changes! We are in Aqua Class (again) so will be dining in Blu. Question for those recently on Summit - is it possible to order from the main dining room menu in Blu? We are sailing with another couple who have never eaten in Blu and afraid they may not like all the healthy choices!
  2. Planning a Celebrity cruise to Alaska beginning June 7, 2024. In looking at shore excursions offered by Celebrity, I am seeing some already sold out or have very few spots open. There will be four of us (two couples) travelling together. We are really interested in fishing. I am looking an independent charter - GO FISH Charters which operates out of Clover Pass Resort. The instructions say we would have to take a taxi to and from this destination. Which dock does Celebrity use at Ketchican? Just trying to figure out how far it will be by taxi to get to Clover Pass from the pier. Has anyone had experience with this charter? There are only a few reviews on Trip Advisor but mostly all really good. Trying to decide if saving a couple of hundred dollars per person is worth the time and hassle to get our own transportation. The ship only has one spot left for it's fishing excursion. Also, has anyone booked Alaska shore excursions through Alaska Shore Tours? I realize they are also a booking company but I double checked several excursions with the independent tour operators they use in various ports and it is not anymore expensive to use this company. Their pricing is fairly equivalent to Celebrity. I am thinking it might be easier to use on company to book tours in several ports rather than individual bookings????? Thanking in advance for any suggestions!
  3. Did you exchange money into francs for tipping or used US dollars?
  4. It is scheduled on our June 8th sailing.
  5. Thank you Daddioppp for your recommendations. One final question - do you know if we need to bring our own snorkel vest (will bring mask and fins from the ship) or will the excursion company provide? Don't want to pack unneccessary stuff!
  6. We are going on the Windstar Tahiti cruise June 2023 and have signed up for the Coral Garden Drift Snorkel at Tahaa. I note that it states "strenuous". We are mid-sixties and occasional snorkelers while on a cruise. My husband cannot float and always uses a floatation device (belt or vest) while snorkeling. Is this possible on this snorkel or is it too shallow? He is concerned so I am wondering if I should cancel. The pictures and reviews of this snorkel are amazing, and I really hate to miss it, but don't want to be uncomfortable and not enjoy the beauty. Any recommendations, thoughts???
  7. Trying to read all comments regarding Tahiti and Society Islands. Think I am tagging onto this thread - hope you all don't mind. We are planning to do the coral garden drift snorkel at Tahaa in June with a Windstar excursion. My husband is concerned as he tends to sink (cannot float) and has to use a flotation belt or vest when snorkeling. Is that doable on this excursion? We are not avid snorkelers - it's been several years since we've snorkeled while on a cruise. I'm wondering if this is the wrong excursion for us. Would appreciate input from those who have done this excursion.
  8. This will be our first Windstar cruise in June 2023 and first time to Tahiti! We are a couple in our mid-sixties; interested in easy snorkeling. Looking at the coral garden drift snorkel but concerned because ship excursion states Strenuous. Is it the strength of the current that makes it difficult? If you had to choose, which is the best one (and maybe easiest) to do? My husband prefers snorkeling in shallower water or closer to shore; he does not like to jump off a boat in the middle of the ocean to snorkel! HA Any recommedations for other excursions - with ship or independent tour operators? We would like to see some of the islands - maybe 4x4 or ATV. Best way to spend time in Bora Bora and the lagoons?? We have swam with dolphins and sting rays at other places. We have used independent tour operators on other cruises - based on Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor recommendations. Easy to do off this cruise? In Bora Bora, are we allowed to visit the motu during the day prior to the evening dinner and show? Any other recommendations or suggestions - anything Wind Spirit cruise to Tahiti - would be greatly appreciated! Super excited about this cruise!
