  1. I presume you can do laundry at regular cost any time? I was planning on taking something like 5 days of clothes and doing laundry twice on my trip in December. Working on my wife to do the same 😁
  2. I lost count of how many Alaska itineraries I had to click on to find one that had any available verandahs but ended up snagging one for next May, just a 7 day though. I need to check out cruiseplum
  3. Last cruise we took in January we didn’t get our assigned cabin until four days before leaving, I was stressing it for sure. We got a couple of cabin categories upgrade but honestly nothing you could notice. I’m guessing it was about location rather than amenities.
  4. I asked on our Atlas FB group and a half dozen people all replied saying they took both a roller bag for the bin and a backpack/small bag for under the seat and it was no problem.
  5. So long as that candied bacon is still there, only reason I go.
  6. I’d love a bon voyage for our little repositioning cruise in October. 10/22/2024 Koningsdam 4 day Pacific Coastal Cruise thanks!
  7. I feel like this question is more about the number of bags allowed rather than the weight. Can we take a checked bag and two cabin bags (a backpack and a regular carry on) or will they deny that even if below the permitted weight.
  8. Looks like we are on the same trip and I’ve been wondering the same thing. Given the desire to pick light I won’t be bring anything to wear for a party but curious what might be going on. Also, we will just be coming out of the Drake Passage and if we get the shake we might all be sick in our rooms!
  9. We did this cruise last year exactly because it wasn't the usual Mexican trip and absolutely loved Loreto, and will go back there later this year be air and land. I would absolutely recommend a cruise that stopped there.
  10. I um'd and ah'd over this for a long time before booking our trip for this December and eventually settled on the balcony, mostly because we tend to spend a lot of time on the balcony on our trips and even though it is going to be cold I thought we would miss having the option to sit out and enjoy the outdoors. But like others have said, my research showed that both are great so seems like you can't go wrong.
  11. Last year we booked a private driver that had good reviews on Viator, English speaking driver and driver would meet us at arrivals with a sign. Of course neither was true, took quite a while to find someone who had a clipboard of drivers who then called our driver to come to the terminal, and when he arrived he spoke no English. That said, he used a translator app and was very knowledgeable and chatty with us and it was an enjoyable ride, took us right to our hotel. Which is all to say there are lots of options on Viator, just be prepared not to get what you expect! Oh, we paid $193 for the two of us.
  12. We had a balcony for South America last year and every view was on the other side. And the one glacier we stopped at where the captain said they would do a 360 so everyone could see everything the winds came up before our side came around and we had to hightail it out. But like someone else said, for the really good stuff the captain opened the bow deck and that’s where I headed each time. Unbelievable views. Though I’ll admit I struggled to find how to get out there.
  13. We’re staying in the very most forward cabin for Antarctica in December, so can let you know then! I know it’s almost certainly the worst place if you don’t like the rocking and rolling but I figure someone has to take it. With such a small ship I figure there’s not a whole lot of difference between front and back but I shall return in January and let you know how wrong I was.
  14. Well I see what you mean, finally pulled the trigger on my booking online and the payment confirmation screen was a bunch of errors, no such reservation, invalid departure date “0” but I did get an email so it looks like it did go through. Now to se up our myAtlas accounts but there’s no loyalty id in the email so looks like I will have to make a call!
  15. I learned something here, so thanks for that!
  16. Hi, I’m looking at doing an Atlas 11 day trip that includes crossing the Antarctic Circle and looking at a mid December or mid February date (all the January sailings are sold out). I know every trip is dependent on conditions but I’m curious if reaching the Circle in December is still likely, or if that’s really important to me I should go February when there is much less ice.
  17. As someone who cruises a lot on Holland America it is hard for me to fathom there is a worse cruise line booking website. I'm about to pull the trigger on a Feb 25 Antarctica trip so am "looking forward" to seeing just how bad it is. Glad I am at least forewarned.
  18. Hi everyone, Looking to do their 11 night roundtrip Antartica cruise in February 2025, wonder if anyone has answers to these questions before I bother their customer service with them. 1. Getting there it looks like you fly into Buenos Aires, stay the night and then the following day they pick you up and fly you to Ushuaia and to the boat. What about getting back, it looks like they fly you back to BA but it isn't clear to me that they do. 2. Am I right in thinking that the Juliet balcony is just to look out of - you can't actually go out onto it and sit out there? Sitting out with a glass of wine is our favourite thing, though with the temperatures perhaps not so much but I definitely think we would want a sit out balcony. 3. What is the food selection like? I see lots of pictures and videos of very fancy food but I'm a real plain meat and fries kinda guy, will I starve if I don't eat Beef Wellington? Thanks in advance if anyone knows! Paul
  19. We were on it a couple of months ago for a 7 day Mexican Rivera trip and were delayed because they couldn’t start the engines. Took 2-3 hours to fix but like you say it doesn’t hurt the experience other than missing the great views on the way out
  20. I’ve never seen duelling pianos on HAL, dual yes, but always working together. I’m very sad if that’s now down to just one, the interplay between the two was always great. When we got off the Koningsdam last month our pianists, Brian and Katie, were on their penultimate cruise before a break. Sounds like break might be longer than they thought. It was our third time having Brian, and we loved Katie. I’d choose an itinerary just for them.
  21. I’ve seen the shows four times now all on different ships and while I wouldn’t go that far, they were all quite poor. They mostly seem to do the balletic dances well but as soon as the tempo goes up, there’s no technique, no poise, no dancing, just running from line to line and striking a pose. On the Koningsdam right now and first show is tonight, I plan to go because I really want to see them do well, and I love a good dance show. Fingers crossed this is the ensemble that proves me wrong.
  22. Somehow missed roll call but we will be making the two hour drive to San Diego shortly to board the Koningsdam for a little Mexico adventure. This will be our first time repeating a ship, we were on the Koningsdam in October 2021 for a different Mexico itinerary. We’ve done several Mexico cruises but this will be our first time visiting La Paz and Loreto, so looking forward to it. Everyone have a great day
  23. 100% this, I don't know where they get their dancers from but I'm yet to see a show where they are up to the choreography. The slow, classical numbers are mostly ok but when it comes to the upbeat stuff, I can't watch. And omg please stop doing the latin show, or at least get some basic training in latin dance technique. As an ex-latin dance professional I understand I may be watching with a different eye than most but when you compare the standard to those on other ships, there is a huge difference. We always enjoyed the LCS though after a couple of cruises, sad to see it gone, although they did need to update their material.
  24. Well tonight it all seems to be working for me. Continue button works on the iPad, and my upcoming trip is in my bookings.
  25. Its definitely hard to test everything across all platforms but I would have hoped that testing would have included making sure the purchase button works everywhere. Still doesn't work for me on my iPad, or anyone in my office, but perhaps they don't get many bookings from iPads so it doesn't matter to them.
