  1. When I dined at Murano on Reflection, I passed on the 5-course tasting menu because I wasn't interested in the wine pairing or the extra cost. My server told me I could just order an extra appetizer or entree to still have a 5-course meal and that's what I did. No extra charge and had an amazing meal.
  2. I've seen this itinerary before online and looks like Equinox will still be on it in January. This review is definitely swaying me to booking it.
  3. "Tortuga" means "turtle" in Spanish. The Dry Tortugas is an offshore national park centered around some remote islands west of Key West.
  4. Out of curiosity I looked at MIA's website and see a grand total of 8 cancellations (4 arrivals, 4 departures) and most of those are flights to/from Cuba. I wouldn't worry about your flight today. It'll probably take a day or two for things to fully smooth out at FLL, sadly.
  5. Best of luck today, gentlemen! I can tell you looking out my window in Miami it's very sunny this morning and a plane just flew over my apartment leaving MIA. We might have some rain in the afternoon but it shouldn't affect your plans. While FLL was completely inundated this week MIA never closed and is more resilient to this sort of weather, anyway. Worst case you may have to circle over the Everglades for a bit. Have a great cruise!
  6. This is my approach. For the (outrageous, IMO) price of the zero proof you'd have to drink 5 or 6 everyday to make it worth it, and that's just too much for me. I carry my water bottle and keep refilling as I go.
  7. Speaking of waived fees for status, travel class, etc. – I wonder if the airlines will proactive about attaching "priority" tags to eligible bags. I assume that the proper airline tags with barcodes will be printed at the airport so will Celebrity have a way of communicating which bags should be given priority handling? It may not matter to some but it would suck if you paid X's fee only to miss out on getting your bags quickly at your final destination when you otherwise would have.
  8. I'm a Celebrity newbie as well. From reading here, there should be more availability on embarkation day. You just need to go to the restaurant itself and inquire once onboard (and do it as soon as you can).
  9. Some lines won’t even allow plastic bottles because of the waste. I know Virgin is in this camp.
  10. Me three! Won't be packing any wine but keep going back and forth on a 12-pack of Coke. I know wine has to be carried on, would the same rule apply to soft drinks?
  11. Same for Reflection in 4 days. Tried reloading/refreshing a couple times but nothing yet...
  12. My Reflection sailing on Sunday still has the modified menus with no prime rib, beef wellington, etc. on any nights. The lobster tail on night 6 (out of 7, also the 2nd Evening Chic night) also has the $16.99 upcharge for a second serving.
  13. Why have I waited so long to click on this amazing live report?? I love your sense of humor, photos, and most of all your positivity! I'm doing my first X cruise on Sunday on Reflection and this is definitely making me more excited. Really enjoying your updates! And that MSC bed... that's certainly... a choice as far as decor goes. I'd probably laugh myself to sleep every night just looking at that pattern. 😂😂
  14. I mean, I just paid $5.50 for a scoop as dessert at an Italian restaurant, so it could be worse!
  15. Check your email(s) from when you first booked your cruise, too. For me, there was a printable luggage tag on one of the last pages of a PDF attachment.
  16. Navigate to "Manage Reservation" on the Celebrity website (top-right corner, make sure you're logged in first): Then on this page expand the "Reservation Details" tab and you'll see your dining preference with an "Edit" button. Hope this helps!!
  17. I can't help with the Celebrity question, but keep in mind that the bullet train/shinkansen uses the separate Shin-Osaka station which is a couple miles from Osaka station. But no shortage of trains between regular Osaka station and Kyoto. Japan's trains are incredibly efficient and extremely punctual. You shouldn't have any issues and you have a ton of time to figure it out, anyway.
  18. Thanks. Honestly, for what X charges as a "cruise-only" base fare wifi should be included. Even the "best" prices here are obscene. Even airlines charge much less on long flights (Jetblue and soon Delta are free, even) and by all accounts it's much better quality/speed than what cruise ships offer. Don't mean to soapbox; I knew the price/quality ratio would be awful going in but didn't think it would be this bad.
  19. Yeah I opted out of that. Wouldn’t have used everything on there and I prefer a la carte in general, anyway. Without the picture I wouldn’t have believed you. Even with the picture I’m still in shock. Good lord. People actually pay that? It would be cheaper to pre-purchase the basic package for 7 days than just pay $67 x 3 sea days.
  20. Not a lawyer or anything, but I think we can add this to the long list of reasons cruise lines flag their ships somewhere other than the United States. Anyone know what Malta's bait-and-switch regulations are? 😜
  21. I'm new to Celebrity so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I know onboard Wifi can be pre-purchased before my cruise in 2 weeks for the duration of the trip, but is it possible to just buy it one day at a time while on the ship? My thought is to just use it on sea days and rely on my AT&T $10/day international pass while in port for data (except in St. Thomas where I believe my normal AT&T service will work fine) on the other days. I'm not planning on buying AT&T's $100 cruise add-on due to the paltry 200 MB data limit. Thanks!!
  22. I agree; maybe I worded myself poorly. My point was that there will be overlap between social media and surveys/stat reports and that the best conclusion will come from making sure not to overweigh online trends against the quantifiable data they collect onboard.
  23. You could argue that it would be redundant, though. If I complain on here then turn in a negative survey on board, would that count twice against just one positive survey from someone else? Should it? Just because CC users are the loudest (so to speak), should our opinions count for more than the majority of folks who cruise (and hand in opinion surveys) without visiting/commenting here? While any service- and sales-oriented company should absolutely keep an eye on social media and message boards, they also need to keep track of opinions they get offline as well in the form of surveys, etc. How to balance the two is the hard part. I don't know the answer to that.
  24. It can be fun, just keep in mind that Super Bowl Sunday is THE biggest sports day in the U.S., so expect any place to be extremely busy (and loud). I imagine many will have some kind of special Super Bowl event going on. Keep in mind, though, that many will refer to it as "the Big Game" to keep the NFL's lawyers at bay, so don't be confused by that. These events may include special pricing on food/drinks (either higher or lower than normal), some kind of pre-/post-game entertainment, or even a cover charge. It depends on the venue. Here are a couple of articles from last year that should help you get an idea of what to expect: https://www.timeout.com/miami/things-to-do/where-to-watch-the-super-bowl-in-miami https://www.thrillist.com/drink/miami/best-places-watch-super-bowl-miami If your hotel is close to the port then Bayside Marketplace should be walking distance away (or at least a very short Uber). It's quite touristy for my taste so I rarely go, but it has a number of bars and restaurants with bars that will have the game on. The rest of the downtown/Brickell area has too many restaurants to list; I can't think of any that would be qualify as a sports bar off the top of my head but they are definitely out there. If you're OK with driving or Ubering further away, then there are places in Coconut Grove, Wynwood, etc. that may be a bit more low-key but still fun. Personally, I'm a fan of the local bar+grill chain Flanigan's (there's one in Coconut Grove) but that's pretty busy on an average night (doesn't help that it's a bit small). On Super Bowl Sunday, I'd stay away. Ultimately, Google is your friend, especially once the game is only a week or 2 away. I'm sorry I can't recommend any specifics but you definitely have plenty of options.
  25. If you're in downtown/Brickell there are no shortage of restaurants and bars with TVs that will certainly be showing it. Just be prepared for them all to be very busy. I live close to PortMiami, what sort of taste/preferences do you have?
