I think you picked a good itinerary to ease your husband back into cruising - there are plenty of options to explore/walk allowing you to distance from the crowds. The beautiful scenery is great motivation to enjoy the great outdoors.

You are correct - you won't see the OBC in the booking, but you can ask for an updated invoice and you'll see it there. And you can use your OBC for gratuities.

We did a similar itinerary a couple years ago, our last cruise before Covid shutdown, from NY and the most moving memory (probably the most talked about) is seeing Lady Liberty as we left. We just couldn't get enough; probably the longest we ever stayed on our balcony during a sail away. It is actually the reason we booked this cruise with this cabin. We'll be aft on deck 7, so maybe we'll see you. Looks like we're already neighbors - Texas neighbors 🫠 so you know we'll be loving the cooler weather!

I am thrilled for you!🥳 Aft balconies are wonderful and true aft balconies with wake views are especially awesome, allows you to see both sides. The extra deep balcony is like getting extra "living" space. You will be spoiled for your 1st balcony - congrats and enjoy!! Should be spectacular views of Statue of Liberty🗽 from your balcony. BTW - are you on for Sept 23-29 or also Sept 16-23? Just curious how long you get to be Queen for a Day 🤭

Very good question. If the numbers are correct, IMO, they should not necessarily receive more. If they are indeed paying more, they possibly should get more..with that said, there are several ways to determine the rate beyond the "cruise fare." $$/day being one and potentially $$/so that you mention. There is indeed a difference and one could probably make an argument for whichever side they support. Interesting...

I'm experiencing that right now on current casino booking - I was able to add CO, but have not been successful in adding HIA. 5 phone calls, 3 Supervisors all say my casino rate code is not combinable w/HIA at the reduced $50/day rate. I can add it if I pay full price of $99/day. @OCJayGuy you may have received incorrect info. I recommend you call the Club Orange number directly. They can confirm availability for CO on your cruise (it's capacity controlled so may be sold out) and check for whichever cabin you want to see if it's available. If you decide to add it, they can also do that for you. Yes, CO can be added to casino bookings, but can they be added to land based casino bookings? I hope you'll let us kniw.

Agree that providing a place to work would be nice. I had to turn 3 opportunities this year to cruise itineraries that I've been looking to do because I need to work and the connection is not reliable enough and there is not an acceptable place for me to work.

Oh goodness - I want to be you when I grow up!! 😊😎 When we have a 2:00ish flight, even though we use Port Valet, we sit at the airport. I want to be brave enough to see anything other than the airport and the highway leading to it. 🤔🙄 How do you get there - Uber? I definitely want to try next time.

I agree if the person is asking for themself (huge no no), but see no problem with it when it's for someone else who was mentioned as doing a great job. If the SOP is recognition through surveys, that's where the praise needs to be memorialized. And if a peer or supervisor points that out (after being made aware of the praise) and it helps get the comment to the right place, I'm ok with that. Especially when the peer or supervisor have no way to get the praise "upstream" in front of the right people. I'd rather someone politely ask me to leave comments on a survey for someone (who deserves it) than have that comments not reported. Just my opinion...

Full price is $99/day, sale price that I'm trying to add is $50/day. That makes sense for it to be available full price. I'm wanting to add it at $50/day, which I did get an email for, but they can't do. The full price doesn't make sense for us, either. Thanks!

I agree that the views are awesome; however, embarkation in Vancouver is a real kick in the teeth. There are numerous threads lamenting the boarding struggles of Vancouver, so I won't go into those, but it's bad enough my outlook loving, nature seeking, AK loving DH said "never again" to leaving from Vancouver. We are still open to Whittier->Vancouver as it doesn't shave those challenges.

Travel partner did receive an email as well. Hers, like yours and mine, showed a rate of $50/day, but in the booking it didn't have a rate, which is usually an indication it's not available. She clicked it anyway but got an error the that it wasn't available, so she called and was told same thing - not available due to not being combinable with the free casino rate. Will definitely continue to call, though. Thanks for the heads up about checking both emails.

Is Alaskan Brunch served on the last day on every AK cruise regardless of ship? We haven't seen it before and my DH would love the biscuits w/reindeer gravy.

Agree substitutions are not special requests and don't add extra time. I frequently ask for green beans or broccoli when I don't care for the vegetables. Especially easy when you get something from one of the other dishes offered on that night's menu. Food for thought... Have you considered listing corn as a food allergy? Then they would know not to serve you corn and, when you do eat in MDR, you would get the next night's menu in advance.

Oh I will - so far, I've made 4 separate calls.

Hey @new2cruise1981 we're right there in your age range with out 30 cruises on our books, but feel like we're nowhere near experts. You're right, though, there are many experts here who are very generous in sharing their tips and experiences. You're in the right place!

Thanks @rodndonna ours is 14 days. I wouldn't be trying so hard, but the math just works on this cruise. We definitely can't do it online no matter what browser we use, so it's a phone call.

I hope so, but the calendars I found show Oct is best for seeing fall foliage colors. Both of our cruises were in Oct, both had magnificent colors, like postcard magnificent colors!! We booked hoping we would be blessed with another color show, but thought the dates were just a bit early. We love the itinerary, so if we don't get to "leaf peep" we'll still enjoy the cruise, but will be a tad disappointed. Strange that Carnival chose to do this early in fall instead of a couple weeks later, especially at the prices they were charging when we booked. Maybe they couldn't get in, too many other ships?

And now I see this from someone on the Koningsdam last week who added it (the stickers are mine to highlight the rate and package). Grrr and ugh...
