  1. We are planning to go there in late September (not on a cruise) Hope it is back to normal for you in April.
  2. If you decide to stay in Fremantle, one suggestion would be to see Fremantle prison - old prison, now historical site, from convict era. Several guided tours. Underground tunnels one was really good.
  3. we used ours for laundry. on a fortnight cruise we managed no laundry costs - used the one included bag, then OBC credit for one more bag and washed underwear and light tops by hand (was warm weather) Not sure how removing it i n any way 'cherishes the planet' 🤨😵 Fortunately our next Scenic cruise is on Mekong and the boat has a self serve laundry for guests
  4. Correct! Fellow in middle is William Charles Loxton, after whom the town is named..
  5. Guessing is hard sometimes but it is also hard knowing what picture to post. Somewhere between the absolutely obvious like Sydney Opera House or Stonehenge but not so obscure that nobody has a chance. So my last 2 were guessed really quickly - perhaps I went too far other extreme with this one. So, clues. I am in Australia in a historical recreation village and the fellow in middle is the founder of the town.
  6. Well, sure. But I wasn't suggesting anyone was going to make me nor that anyone else shouldn't do so, if they want to.
  7. Yes I'm sure it can if you are one of those people who want to do that. I am not.
  8. I've wondered about these claims of people going on 2 week trips with only carry on and thought I could never manage that. Makes sense now - they are not managing with 7kg limits either.
  9. But most of these river cruises are fully booked - so not often you could do that.
  10. Cu Chi tunnels are fascinating, have been there on trip to Vietnam in 2017.
  11. Australia is a big place - so it really depends where you are going. Tasmania weather will be vastly different from Darwin weather Most of Australia will still be warm to possibly hot weather in March NZ will be bit cooler - similar to Tasmania.
  12. Ok I'll take a wild guess Warragamba dam, NSW
  13. Do I get an honorarary mention for spotting the country by the " we love NZ" sticker on the bin?
  14. Staff are paid penalty rates ie a higher wage on Sundays ( sometimes all weekend depending on the award they come under) So this is sometimes passed on to customers with a Sunday surcharge. Public holiday surcharge common too for same reason.
  15. the issue isnt whether wait staff are well paid compared to , say, tertiary qualified occupations - but whether they are similarly paid to other similar qualification level occupations that nobody would tip for. In US they are not therefore you tip to make up the difference In Australia they are therefore you do not tip.
