  1. @gradydude google flight shows a non stop flight 7639 725pm arrive 220 am ( oy vey the fun of south american flights) It is listed under GOL in the flight search function
  2. I have not personally been to Lake Louise or Banff. Banff is the national park there and the whole general area is referred to as Banff. I think most people favor Lake Louise overall for its dramatic setting. WIth the large ski area I think you might find more services and opportunity. You you will be seeing fall colors and running water in rivers and waterfalls. Most of these areas have easy to follow walking trails that will get you safely to scenic spots and I am sure there are a lot of information form on line sources. Folks in the Pacific Northwest region love outdoor hiking and activity Lyft is a ride company just like Uber . I use Lyft primarily but at busy times and in some locations ( rural/ early hours/ overnight) having both increases your ride potential.
  3. I am not sure about the legal aspect of walking out. Someone else may have some guidance The pier is also home to other businesses and I cannot see how they can restrict how people get to work. There is a bus stop on the Magnolia Bridge. If you zoom in on Google Maps and switch to the photo image ( real) view and zoom in, you will see that the suggested route along Elliot actually crosses the entrance to the trail. TAKE THE TRAIL it is why you are there. Elliot is simply an industry lined road. The trail is for enjoyment. Expect bikes The route on the pier appears to take in marked walking paths and a sidewalk pavement. With all the parking there needs to be built in safe passage. Back in the day this pier is where the ships from Japan unloaded cars from Honda et al and loaded them on to rail cars
  4. There is no Uber stand like at an airport at Pike Place, you pick up your car where you call from, just like regular use. Call for your car in front of one of the businesses on First Avenue. Do not call from inside the market on Pike Place, it is not a useful road for the Uber driver. Uber and Lyft ( please have both apps) are highly popular in Seattle as many folks here, particularly younger generation , do not bother owning cars. They find they can get around and using U/L as needed is more economical. I would spend the night in Seattle and take the Seattle Victoria ferry. The ferry from vancouver to victoria still means you have to get back to vancouver and you have spent a alot of your valuable time traveling, including the Tsawwssen and Sydney connections. To get to Banff, a worthy destination, I would fly to Calgary from SEA . you can book shuttles from the Calgary airport to Lake Louise a stunningly beautiful place. You will be able to use the same clothing as you used on your Alaska cruise. I would book Lake Louise / Banff over Victoria and Whistler https://thebanffblog.com/banff-in-october/
  5. I would arrange a car service which supports car seats, in advance. A shuttle van configuration should hold all passengers and luggage
  6. @GTJ the OP on this thread is from Asia, visiting Vancouver for a meeting then taking and extended vacation after.
  7. I would take the Elizabeth line to Bond Street and transfer to the Jubilee line to Waterloo as described before Bond Street can be intimidating, but the Elizabeth and its stations are designed for people. I love the Piccadilly, but it feels like hauling cattle and not always easy transfers
  8. do you know how to use google maps to route find? It shows the walking route (45 minutes) and the bus route to The Nobel Museum ( on Gamla Stan) , including bus numbers and stop arrival times. The suggested walk and bus routes are actually one and the same. It passes the ferry depot dfilpus mentions
  9. as others have said, largely cashless. I enjoy having a few leftover coins from different countries as a souvenir more than anything. I am, however a fan of graphics and design. If you like to travel in out of the way places and small villages, it is good to have a small amount of cash for when things go sideways, but overall I would not worry.
  10. Here is another resource for port information https://www.cruisemapper.com/ports actual berthing locations can change at the last minute due to issues out of the ships control,
  11. I would take the info you saw on line with a huge bucket of salt. There have been many highly conflated "documentary reports" from media outlets which are agenda driven rather than based on balanced facts. Seattle , like many international large cities, IS impacted by poverty homelessness and a drug crisis. I would apply the reasonable choices you would make while traveling in ANY city, to Seattle Yes I live here, Yes I am a single senior and travel independently
  12. consult a travel doctor or pharmacist they have access to the latest advisories CDC guidance and information is here https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel
  13. the three service dogs I regularly have contact with ... I have never seen them on furniture when on duty. Always at the feet of their person when seated in restaurants or socially. I have seen them when at home and not wearing their harness lolling on furniture with their owners ( the dogs loll, the owners, not so much)
  14. If you booked your own air fare and get an oversold offer... If you go ahead and use your airfare for independent travel on the original dates, I assume that they will only comp you for the cruise aspect you lost plus an "inconvenience fee"?
  15. You should have no issues with getting through the market and down to the waterfront.
  16. On some of the tour company sites, it is called Harbor Skarfabaki, so alphabetizes up in the H along with a slew of Hotel XYZ listings
  17. I had used Reykjavik Excursions with nothing but praise for the Golden circle as well as airport transferes with flybus via Blue Lagoon . I would have been very upset having such an immature person at the wheel, bragging about drunkenness. Sorry such a wonderful country left such a bad impression
  18. There was a long thread about this that was locked yesterday. There are rules about citizenship, ports of call and lots of other maritime law that is confusing. I would think the train will do fine. You could walk to P66 easily. Uber lyft taxi also easy.
  19. It has always been around. These days, however, you hear about it widely via social media , often within a day. It never rose to "newsworthy". These days everyone thinks everything is newsworthy Sickest I have even been was at a meeting.in Vegas. Wanted to truly die
  20. Are you traveling as a pair? Very likely a conventional uber lyft taxi is fine with your luggage. Around here Friday commute traffic is called Friday Lite. I think any flight after 11am is fine
  21. I wish I had held on to my tags for POM and PEM.
  22. I was going to suggest Venice Beach, Inn at Venice Beach. Very close to airport and an interesting town
  23. sooner or later one must trust in the system. Ifs and Ands can keep you sitting on your sofa. Ifs and Ands are why so many people plan a day ahead. I would not expect a random bus to break down. They are not jitneys they are long distance coaches trains in the US , particularly on the west cost are very limited. They are not like the massive systems in Europe or Asia which move a large number of people and have a large infrastructure going everywhere. The train from Vancouver to Sea is very scenic ( sit on the right side) and likely to be a good choice. Issues or train running poorly is more likely in winter and late Fall when rain on the coast and snow in the mountains become an issue. the bus I posted is a nice alternative to know about. They clearly know their audience with stops at the seattle convention center, the two piers and Sea Tac. These bus lines are very popular on the west coast particularly with younger folks who do not drive. They know they can easily get where they want to be with simple fares. Many young folks dont drive or own a car when simple urban transportation is handy and the overhead of owning running and storing a car in the urban cities are just not money well spent
  24. The Flybus and all the tour providers of Iceland are amazing and moving people about and getting you to where you need to be. This is a huge industry there. The Golden Circle tour is wonderful. I believe the bus to the central depot from Harbor Ska is the Purple Line
