  1. Definitely Deck 7 then :) We're Canadian so bringing back a couple of bottles of stuff we can't get at home for cheaper that what we'd pay up here is hubby's top priority
  2. We had some tuxes and gowns on our sailing from Ft Lauderdale to Galveston, BUT, I suspect many of those people were from the UK where they tend to dress up more, as we were the last leg of a repositioning cruise that started off up that way. I also saw plenty of people in jeans and shorts walking through the Piazza. Definitely no need to get formal (though I admit it was super fun to see some of those people dressed to the 10s (nines doesn't describe the gentleman in a white tux with red accents!)). Hubby wore dress pants, a shirt, and a tie, I wore a dress that was a step or two above casual but not super dressy and definitely not formal. Based on what we saw he could have ditched the tie and felt perfectly comfortable.
  3. Enjoy your cruise! We were on the cruise prior to yours as it repositioned into Galveston. Hope your weather is better than ours was (we still had a fantastic time!).
  4. It must be a state thing - we were on the Regal for the sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Galveston the cruise prior to this and had no problem using our drink package before we sailed out of FL.
  5. One more little tip - the gift/jewelry/shiny stuff shops are all on Deck 7, but if you're looking for the toothbrush/deodorant/cold medication you forgot at home, or want duty free liquor, there's a small store down on 5 that we totally missed for the first couple of days. We were puzzled at the lack of liquor selection or sundries for the "oops I forgot XYZ" when we browsed the main shops. Funny that we missed it at first because Good Spirits is down there and we found that on day one!
  6. I'm not a huge lunch person - we tend to eat a decent sized breakfast, then maybe grab a snack before a late dinner. The buffet suited us just fine during the day, the dining rooms at night. One of my favourite snacks/light lunch was the little brie sandwich (with or without a cookie on the side) at the International Cafe, where you could grab a latte or blended coffee and sit down with it - or eat it with a cocktail at Good Spirits (right next to the IC).
  7. To be fair, it *is* good pizza. There's also a pizza place on the pool deck that serves by the slice to go (rather than the sit down service at Alfredos). We at at Alfredo's once, Ocean Terrace the other time under our package. I didn't really feel a need to go back a second time, but some people did love it.
  8. Casual dining options on the Regal are Alfredo's and Ocean Terrace (sushi). I *think* Vines also had a casual dining option but we didn't investigate as we only got the two included meals. I'm unclear if Vines is tapas, charcuterie, or sushi now (I MAY have read somewhere that they switched from one of the former choices to sushi now, although that puzzles me as there is already Ocean Terrace).
  9. Very recent. They started charging in early October and made it a two time "perk" under the Plus package (unlimited under Premier). A lot of us were very annoyed as there was no warning. We paid the final payment on our cruises and they just sprung it at us with no warning. It was worse for the non-package people that looked forward to eating there as an included venue regularly (and paid on that supposed promise) and now they have to pay each time they eat there.
  10. We loved Good Spirits too and agree they had an amazing cocktail menu. On that note, the colour changing Butterfly cocktail should be ordered at least once just for the "neat" factor.
  11. They do still have the champagne tower, but from what I've heard it's not nearly as tall and grand as it was many years ago.
  12. Yes, the menu is the same at all three dining rooms. Again, if you want to have the same table and wait staff throughout the cruise, just let them know you'd like to book in for the same table and time each night :)
  13. Didn't see White and Gold night on the Regal we just disembarked from at all. Have also heard that not many people *do* dress in white and gold when they do have them. If you have a white and gold outfit you love maybe take it, but I wouldn't suggest going out to buy something special for it.
  14. You're not assigned to any particular dining room. You can book at any of the dining rooms for any time you like. We booked day by day and ate at all three dining rooms (as well as the buffet and we splurged for the Crown Grill (specialty restaurant) one night). However, if you do prefer to eat at the same table in the same dining room at the same time every night, just ask the staff to book you in for it at the start of your cruise.
  15. February should be better than this time of year... hurricane season is still winding down but should be finally done with by the end of November :) I'm not a terribly experienced cruiser (this recent one was our third other than the one I took when I was 18) and it was our first with Princess, so hopefully others can chime in on this!
  16. With eight people you might want to book earlier in the cruise than later - or go talk to the dining room manager on your first day if there appears to be an issue, I'm sure they could accommodate if you don't leave it too long :)
  17. We just came off the Regal Deck 14, aft. It did feel a bit rocky up there, but that may have been an issue with the weather for the whole ship at this time of year. Pros are that is is close to the pool deck and buffet (both on deck 16), but as Jimmy says, it's further from the Piazza and bars/restaurants on levels 5 to 7. We did tend to take the elevators mainly as I have an achilles strain so I'm hobbling a bit. Two flights of stairs was my maximum (and we only did them a couple of times), except on our last day disembarking when the elevators were packed and I just limped all the way down. That was a lot of stairs on a sore heel/ankle, but normally I'd have no problem with it. Other than the last day disembarkation we didn't have much trouble getting elevators if that's what you prefer.
  18. Oh I got the joke, I was just commenting on how fun it was *laughs*.
  19. Especially if it's a port day.. we were always back on the ship by 3 or 4 PM and that gave us plenty of time to relax, have a drink, shower and make the late seating. Most people tend to book on sea days.
  20. We forgot the painters tape to cover the sensor so we just asked our room steward to disable it and he covered it with tissue and tape. I'm pretty sure he was very used to receiving such a request!
  21. This was a fun game show to watch! They bring up the passenger contestants one at a time and the hosts question them for up to three minutes trying to get them to say "yes" or "no". It sounds easy but apparently it isn't as most people slipped up within a minute or two.
  22. We just got off the Regal on Sunday. You should have no problem getting a table at least for the later (7:40/8:00) seatings. We had an 8 PM booked and changed that day to 7:40 and the restaurant was half empty. They did say the earlier seatings were fully booked though.
  23. We enjoyed it, but it was our first Princess cruise so we have nothing else to compare it to on the Princess line. Our only other sailings have been with Norwegian (Jewel in 2017, Breakaway in 2019). Both were pre-covid, had a nicer "free at sea" perk package than they have now, better production shows, and we remember a fun blues club on one of the Norwegian sailings. We did enjoy the piazza on the Regal though with the lounges that looked out over it, and other members of the forums here have said Regal and it's sister ship Royal were among their favourite Princess ships. Medallion net and the Ocean now delivery system were nice touches, but those aren't exclusive to the Regal of course. We did miss having a walkable promenade around the pool deck, but there is a walking track up a level or two. We did love the International Cafe, but again, not exclusive to Regal. Note: Lesly in Outriggers is a gem! She'll be with the ship until she gets to go home for a few months in February or March. Unfortunately I just don't have much to compare this ship to, with my only other sailings being "our first cruise(s)" experiences (so bigger wow factor) and pre-covid qualities on a difference cruise line.
  24. We just got off the Regal (October 24 to November 5) and the app worked fine on my husband's Android. I guess it's YMMV? I just noticed that this post is from Saturday... we did get a notice that there was an update to the app a couple of days before we disembarked that we didn't mess with, so perhaps the latest update that came out a few days ago is bugged :(
  25. We just got off the Regal. Our room was serviced at least twice a day (sometimes it felt like three times) We saw plenty of people carrying on 12 packs of soda.
