  1. Do that many people actually remove them? I've heard people threaten it on different posts here and there but when push comes to shove do they actually do it?
  2. I have a hunch if we saw even further behind the scenes we'd see more employees in those categories than we ever expected to see. Still it's nice to see any kind of breakdown.
  3. Fingers crossed for your sailing. My good friend's family is scheduled on that cruise and they are stressed as well.
  4. I was pricing Caribbean cruises out of Galveston and the prices between Carnival and Princess were a surprise. I don't know anything about the individual boats and maybe that accounts for it, but Princess was less.
  5. I've complained before about having to wear full fire resistant stuff in the Utah desert heat....that's my excuse for wearing lounge clothing when off duty. It's not a great excuse but my wife accepts it, so far anyway.
  6. Then prepare to laugh because my trucker butt is coming out! 😂
  7. Oh, I already accept it. I also accept I'm not going to win the lottery but a part me can still wish it.
  8. Part of me wishes they had formal dining rooms with linen napkins and tablecloths and the whole 9 yards, and then casual dining rooms. I know not everyone cares, but some do want to recapture the nostalgia of the old cruiselines vs the casual resort vibe. Of course from a business perspective the logistics would be a nightmare and not worth the trouble. Edit: How's that for a thread 180...sorry OP. 😊
  9. I get an email. I don't see it online unless I go digging around under the booking details...I'm not sure exactly where it shows up because I think the Carnival website layout is a mess.
  10. We have two rooms booked on Panorama in March, a cove balcony and an inside across the hall. We selected the rooms ourselves. I've gotten one offer to move the balcony to a higher floor, I can't remember the cost, less than $50. That was shortly after booking. I've had 2-3 offers for the inside to move to a higher floor, about $28 I think. Offer today to move inside to an oceanview for $168. We haven't considered any of them.
  11. So I have a question, if I may. Are the number of Panorama breakdowns normal among all her peers or unique to her? If she is less reliable, then why?
  12. Oh, gotcha. I thought you meant they made changes recently to the upcoming itineraries and I just missed it.
  13. I have an 1130 flight out of Long Beach on disembarkation day, so in a similar boat. At least we can use Southwest and they are flexible if we decide to change flight times. We are still undecided on what to do.
  14. I'm on her in March, haven't heard anything about switching to 8/6 runs, where'd you see the details on that?
  15. I'm sorry you are finding out this fact the hard way. To play devil's advocate for a minute what do you expect from the cruise line? That's two rooms on a sailing just over a month away that Carnival has to try and fill.
  16. Ok fine, I'll go with you.... In all seriousness I have no advice but I hope something works out for you.
  17. I think I largely agree with your points. As I've said, I wouldn't be happy with the Panorama situation and compensation and I think my reasons are valid. Others disagree, and I recognize their opinions are theirs and also valid. Furthermore, I understand Carnival's limited liability and all of that and, unhappy though I might be in the situation, I wouldn't have any intention of making demands, throwing a tantrum, or any such actions. I do find it interesting when people insist their opinion and actions are automatically the appropriate ones for everyone despite the fact many of us have distinctly different backgrounds and circumstances. Sure, there are obvious over reactions and all that, but I'm not going to insist traveler A should be content because traveler B is. It's also easy for me to stand on my internet soapbox like this because I'm not in either traveler's shoes at the moment. Lastly, on just the current sailing alone are what, thousands of passengers? We will only hear from, and interact with, a small fraction of them here. Hopefully most are ultimately happy.
  18. I would also argue that a cruise ship is not the same as passenger rail, airlines, or taxi services. But if we are making that comparison I wonder what Uber would do with a driver who's ride had a history of breaking down in transit with passengers. 🤷 Personally, I would not feel satisfied with $400 obc on a cruise that set me back thousands in tickets, hotels and airfare, as well as my oh-so-precious PTO. I can't think of anything I would spend it on that would make up for the loss of 2 out of 3 ports. That isn't to say everyone feels the same as me, or should. I want the passengers happy with their cruise regardless. I wonder if some of the "meh" attitudes are because the itinerary isn't as exciting to most as say the ABC's where I imagine the loss of two of those 3 ports might arouse a stronger attitude.
  19. Sounds like she's dragging her feet a little to get her full 7 days. Would think they'd do the double Cabo port thing instead but maybe that's not an option. Or maybe she really is this crippled and they simply hope they can put the spurs to her getting home nearly on time.
  20. No mushrooms? I better not tell my wife she might outright cancel the cruise. A mushroom burger is her jam.
  21. Just a guess, but I don't think it sounds like a significant breakdown, but rather a part (or series of parts) that continually fails under strain thus the reduction, and not outright loss, of propulsion. And why the repairs are never permanent. But I have no clue how these ships work. In the words of Oddball: "I just ride 'em, I don't know what makes 'em work."
  22. I agree, $400 obc is nice and all if you have something to spend it on, but it doesn't make up for missing 2 of the 3 ports because they can't keep the boat working. As has been stated, this isn't a one-off for Panorama but a returning issue. I sympathize with Heald and the rest when passengers are angry about weather and port issues that they can't control. But this isn't that. I have this cruise as my first in March and would be upset.
  23. We were going to book Cucina and JiJi's for our cruise in March but after talking over the price increase with the wife (there are 4 of us going) we figured we'd rather spend the $200 on food in port since we have never cruised before and don't know how good (or bad) the included food is. And also, I'm a cheapskate. 😉
  24. Can you explain what you mean by "put on request"? I thought carnival just informed you if an upgrade was available.
