  1. My wife is mad, mushroom burgers are her jam. 😆
  2. Good heavens. At the end of the day we are talking tips, right? You know, that extra reward for good service. If someone pays their fare as a customer and doesn't feel a tip is warranted than fine, that's for them to decide. This US notion that somehow tips are really mandatory now for basic service and an additional tip on top of the tip is how we reward good service is, in my opinion at least, dumb and should stop. I'm not advocating customers don't tip when warranted, that's not the point I'm attempting to make. Gratuities are still tips. Regardless of any private reasons the cruise industry adopted auto gratuities the way it was sold to customers was to streamline tipping across the board and to remove the need to carry cash onboard, right? Not to offset wages we might feel are inadequate. I don't personally agree that a customer is inherently horrible for not paying an automatic tip for mediocre service. It's their money, their decision.
  3. My wife says it's spending too much money and energy pretending to be homeless. 😉
  4. We are campers going to try cruising for a change.. wish us luck.
  5. I think the people problem exists everywhere now, unfortunately.
  6. I read that Carnival recently invested heavily in new Starlink hardware, so there's that. And satellite internet is fairly expensive and much lower in bandwidth than the fiber many of us have access to at home.
  7. By the way, sorry about your cancelled cruise.
  8. All of my offers have been via email, no phone calls.
  9. For those interested in this topic I got another (4th so far) upgrade offer for the Panorama March sailing, inside to OV for $344. Worst offer yet, but we aren't really interested in changing as we picked our own rooms (cove and inside across the hall). With all the sailings that were canceled for her breakdown I wonder just how crowded she'll be in early March.
  10. As long as boats continue to sail at capacity they show no signs of reining in the cuts/increases. I do wonder if it will catch up to them or if this is simply the way the market works now.
  11. No made to order omelets, no mushrooms, no homemade fries, limited bacon, no more free room service, limited housekeeping, and on and on and on... at what point is it OK for a person to express disappointment? 🤔
  12. That airfare section was weird. Didn't it say they would only reimburse if the airfare was transferable with the airline for credit and covered only the difference, or something like that? Maybe I just don't understand but I to was unimpressed with what I saw. After all, this isn't an act of nature or similar, this is entirely on CCL.
  13. You might not find it useful but I do, so personally I'm glad it's asked routinely and thankful that others still share their insights.
  14. Was this an Alaska cruise? How was the wind on the forward balcony? Care to share the room #?
  15. The cellular at the sea provider is easily recognized? I'm on ATT and I think the two providers for me might have ATT and MX in their names, but I just read that here, I haven't confirmed it yet.
  16. Fingers crossed. Sorry, we know what a gut punch it is when this stuff happens.
  17. This. You might be able to contact the vendor and get them cancelled and reissued. I'm not sure where you bought them or how they were delivered.
  18. Thank you. So it's better not to risk it onboard the actual boat, even during port stops? I'm not tied to my phone but my teen daughter is another story. 😂
  19. Hi, hoping someone can help me understand using my cell on our cruise. I have an ATT unlimited cell plan that includes Mexico and I'm going on a cruise to PV, Mazatlan and Cabo and been told by ATT my phone will work just fine in those ports. Great so far. But I've also seen warnings to make sure I'm connected to ATT MX (or whatever their network is called) and not the ships cellular or I'll get a big fat roaming bill. However, ATT locks the cellular network selection on their phones leaving me totally confused as to how I should proceed. Any help from fellow ATT cruisers is much appreciated. (I tried searching up an answer but the threads I found were years old and unclear, at least to me)
  20. I keep seeing this...is there really a site we aren't allowed to name or is this some kind of inside joke here?
  21. It's not just you. That guy is about 25% useful info and 75% drama. 😂 I suppose that's his job though.
  22. Haven't even cruised yet, not for a few more months. But to that point, are they there to remove gratuities specifically or to address other concerns? I'm not arguing that people don't do it, but I'm genuinely curious how common it is.
