  1. My family is doing one next year. I wish my cousin chose a different ship, itinerary, or both. He went with a TA.
  2. I took 12.5 mg of meclizine instead of the full 25 mg tablet on a choppy day at sea. Got rid of the motion sickness without the drowsiness. I weigh less than 115 pounds.
  3. We missed Victoria due to a (drawn out) computer system malfunction. Didn’t receive final billing until at least 5 days later. Been getting security warnings on the email I used for NCL. I compartmentalize so not all my emails are affected.
  4. My opinion: Food 👍🏼 Shows 👎🏻 Classical music 👍🏼 Ambience 👍🏼 Don’t miss the dry sauna with the ocean views in the locker rooms.
  5. It’s difficult to compare pre and post-pandemic cruises. Here’s my food ranking for 5 cruises including RCL and Princess: 1. Cunard 2/3. Disney/Princess (For the food. The Disney experience is a class in it’s own.) 4. Royal Caribbean (Everything was satisfactory-just not as excitement inducing as 2/3.) 5. Norwegian (The only post-COVID cruise on this list)
  6. I went to Mendenhall glacier on a gorgeous, clear sunny morning earlier this month. Shout out to tour bus driver Carlos. You’re 👍
  7. Depends on how much the customer adjusting the fee makes per hour themselves. On my first cruise, no one at my dining table outside of my group tipped the staff. Two were college students (forgot what their mom did). There are people who don’t tip housekeeping at land-based hotels. Regarding other services: I don’t tip dry cleaners. But then I do this like once a year since I try to avoid buying dry clean only clothing (get my wool coats dry cleaned). Having sent clothes to dry cleaners in both AZ and CA…CA is more than triple the price in AZ.
  8. If you want to tip less, go to Guest Services and sign a form. They will subtract the amount you want removed. Some people only eat at buffet and never at table service, so they believe they should be charged less for service-which imo is reasonable. On land I don’t tip the same percentage for table service, pick up, and buffet/cafeteria service. It takes a different skill level to have to communicate with clients versus clearing a table. But I don’t understand people who want to remove the service fee entirely. A reasonable adjustment imo for example would be subtracting a percentage of the calculated daily service charge if one does not use table service restaurants.
  9. My group checked in after 11:30 (we spent the morning inside Amazon Spheres) and it wasn’t too bad. We had early boarding but decided against check in, sit, and wait. Disembarkation was ick though.
  10. Is it weird that I consider SPF part of my beauty/skincare routine rather than healh-related?
  11. Since coming back from a non-Princess cruise, I’ve lost 1 pound per day. The effects of excess sodium intake while on the cruise!
  12. And if I remember correctly, codeine is still otc in JPN.
  13. After insanely overpacking on my second cruise, I now prefer 1 carry-on and a large backpack. If I need to pack more I’d do a medium sized check-in and a large backpack. So two pieces of luggage max. I leave room in my backpack for my crossbody. The reason I no longer overpack? I do not want to be a burden to my travel companions. I don’t have the physique to take care of more than one rolling case on my own.
  14. Didn’t book it yet but most likely a family reunion cruise in about 14 months.
  15. Five. Alphabetically Cunard, Disney, Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean.
  16. I was recently on the Bliss and it was served at the buffet on the last night of the cruise (their Asian cuisine night). The beef skewer was served next to a soy-based sauce while the chicken satay was served next to the peanut sauce as appropriate.
  17. This is a category in which I overpack. imo the necessities are: Rx meds for chronic conditions (affecting circulation respiration metabolism), seizure disorders, ones that can cause withdrawal (includes seizures) if you miss too many doses Bandages for blisters and little cuts/scrapes Antibiotic ointment Meclizine (only took 1 tablet on my last cruise) Either acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen Cough drops/lozenges Loperamide Either loratadine, cetirizine, or diphenhydramine I also pack: Electrolyte solution powder packets (for supportive care due to diarrhea, can also help with intestinal cramping) Generic Miralax packets Pseudoephedrine COVID-19 tests Lactaid Bismuth subsalicylate The supplements I take are Vitamin C and 81 mg aspirin (not recommended past a certain age without consulting your physician) Besides the meclizine we only used bandages, antibiotic ointment, loratadine, and acetaminophen on our last cruise. I used cough drops and the generic Miralax on the land portion of our trip.
  18. I can’t answer your questions but I too found the peanut sauce yummy.
  19. Do any of the mainstream cruise lines still offer soufflé in non-specialty restaurants? I went on 2 (or was it 3?) where soufflé was offered on the MDR menu. Also consommé as a non-specialty soup option.
  20. I love promenade decks as well. Unfortunately the ship I was recently on has a “waterfront” on their promenade deck with outdoor dining as well as a cigar lounge. They had another deck with the life boats but it didn’t go all the way around the ship either. The “ waterfront” was often closed due to rough seas and/or wind. Classic promenade decks have a wider walkway than The Waterfront.
  21. The only advice I can give you is: Prepare your closet for rough seas. Three things to do: 1) Leave your closet open with the hanger side open and the two sliding doors against each other 2) Support the sliding doors open by propping them with luggage or unused cushions or pillows 3) Use every hanger in the closet If you don’t do at least #1 and #2, during rough seas the sliding doors will be banging all night.
  22. They have oatmeal on the Bliss’s Observation Lounge on only one side. I didn’t eat the oatmeal though (because I prefer my oatmeal on the thick side) so I didn’t pay attention if the oatmeal was available before 5:30A but it should be available after. There are raisins and brown sugar available as accompaniments.
  23. I was up during the 4 o’ clock hour one morning recently and they had cereal and tea out already in the Observation Lounge. An attendant was already setting up the pastries, meats, and cheeses. Milk cartons were out by 5A. To note: I was actually on the Bliss and not another ship.
  24. Two of the dinner reservations I made got cancelled. One of them may have seemed redundant to the system, but I wanted our group to split to two different restaurants one of those evenings. We get tired each other every now and then. Introvert majority group.
