Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. My family is doing one next year. I wish my cousin chose a different ship, itinerary, or both. He went with a TA.
  2. I took 12.5 mg of meclizine instead of the full 25 mg tablet on a choppy day at sea. Got rid of the motion sickness without the drowsiness. I weigh less than 115 pounds.
  3. We missed Victoria due to a (drawn out) computer system malfunction. Didn’t receive final billing until at least 5 days later. Been getting security warnings on the email I used for NCL. I compartmentalize so not all my emails are affected.
  4. My opinion: Food 👍🏼 Shows 👎🏻 Classical music 👍🏼 Ambience 👍🏼 Don’t miss the dry sauna with the ocean views in the locker rooms.
  5. It’s difficult to compare pre and post-pandemic cruises. Here’s my food ranking for 5 cruises including RCL and Princess: 1. Cunard 2/3. Disney/Princess (For the food. The Disney experience is a class in it’s own.) 4. Royal Caribbean (Everything was satisfactory-just not as excitement inducing as 2/3.) 5. Norwegian (The only post-COVID cruise on this list)
  6. I went to Mendenhall glacier on a gorgeous, clear sunny morning earlier this month. Shout out to tour bus driver Carlos. You’re 👍
  7. Depends on how much the customer adjusting the fee makes per hour themselves. On my first cruise, no one at my dining table outside of my group tipped the staff. Two were college students (forgot what their mom did). There are people who don’t tip housekeeping at land-based hotels. Regarding other services: I don’t tip dry cleaners. But then I do this like once a year since I try to avoid buying dry clean only clothing (get my wool coats dry cleaned). Having sent clothes to dry cleaners in both AZ and CA…CA is more than triple the price in AZ.
  8. If you want to tip less, go to Guest Services and sign a form. They will subtract the amount you want removed. Some people only eat at buffet and never at table service, so they believe they should be charged less for service-which imo is reasonable. On land I don’t tip the same percentage for table service, pick up, and buffet/cafeteria service. It takes a different skill level to have to communicate with clients versus clearing a table. But I don’t understand people who want to remove the service fee entirely. A reasonable adjustment imo for example would be subtracting a percentage of the calculated daily service charge if one does not use table service restaurants.
  9. My group checked in after 11:30 (we spent the morning inside Amazon Spheres) and it wasn’t too bad. We had early boarding but decided against check in, sit, and wait. Disembarkation was ick though.
  10. Is it weird that I consider SPF part of my beauty/skincare routine rather than healh-related?
  11. Since coming back from a non-Princess cruise, I’ve lost 1 pound per day. The effects of excess sodium intake while on the cruise!
  12. And if I remember correctly, codeine is still otc in JPN.
  13. After insanely overpacking on my second cruise, I now prefer 1 carry-on and a large backpack. If I need to pack more I’d do a medium sized check-in and a large backpack. So two pieces of luggage max. I leave room in my backpack for my crossbody. The reason I no longer overpack? I do not want to be a burden to my travel companions. I don’t have the physique to take care of more than one rolling case on my own.
  14. Didn’t book it yet but most likely a family reunion cruise in about 14 months.
  15. Five. Alphabetically Cunard, Disney, Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean.
