  1. You've obviously missed something. Look again. Or, someone doesn't like you. 😆
  2. Yes, and I believe many will. That's kinda the point. Smaller ships, at a profitable price point. I believe the super-duper-mega ships are going to find themselves in a position that they almost have to give away their cabins -- at a loss.
  3. Overbooking makes sense for an airline, when there's almost always another flight to put them on. It makes no sense for a cruise line, where there are no options other than expensive compensation. I honestly hope HAL isn't attempting the best of both -- cancellations with limited compensation.
  4. Another argument for smaller ships is that as more and more ports limit their capacity, the super-duper-mega ships are going to have fewer and fewer places to go. Personally, I think once the current "cruise boom" is done, the biggest ships are going to find themselves in the worst position.
  5. Not on Carnival, apparently. All they needed was a last name and booking number. Pretty sad. Also, when was the last time you actually signed a form for anything regarding a cruise?
  6. That is exactly our intention in August. However, HAL isn't currently offering that service. I find it unlikely that it's sold out (just keep running the shuttles until you're done), so I'm at a loss.
  7. There is a reason that Encore is our favorite NCL ship. But since most of Encore's upper space is taken up by things we never use, the comparison to Rotterdam will be interesting. Also, I have never been on another ship that can compare to Encore's Waterfront or Observation Lounge. I also agree that I've never been on ship where I've said, "I'll never sail this ship again".
  8. I appreciate your perspective, but of course it was "their fault". Crime is crime, but if my mailbox is overflowing and there's a 65" TV sitting in its box outside my house -- yes, it's my fault. No brainer.
  9. I would prefer to believe this is the correct scenario, rather than believe HAL intentionally overbooks CO. Regardless, HAL needs to make OP whole.
  10. I wouldn't bet the farm on that. There is a lot of background "pushback" on the bigger is better concept. There are too many of us who like the smaller ships to be ignored.
  11. Those certainly are mega ships. The term "mega ship" was here long before the ships you mentioned were built. The newer 6000+ plus ships have no classification, other than the "Insane Class".
  12. To each their own. We love the cruise through Puget Sound.
  13. You are correct. It gave zero indication of who chose what to show. You simply said "they". Are you offended that I simply clarified your post? That seems unlike you.
  14. NCL certainly chooses what venue's TV shows what. However, if the company they use for broadcast chose not to show the Patriots game, you would have been out of luck.
  15. Not specifically. Your post seemed to imply that NCL chooses. AFAIK, that is not the case.
  16. You get whatever their satellite feed chooses to show. I also assume that will include the NBA Finals.
  17. I don't understand your logic. It's still a comparison. I sailed on the Carnival Holiday in 1992 w/ 1450 pax. Does that count? In any case, I look forward to comparing "the masses" on Rotterdam vs. NCL Encore. 👍
  18. I assume you were a week too early? We did the NE cruise in mid-September '22 and everything was as green as Spring. Definitely wouldn't book a NE cruise with any expectation of seeing Fall colors. That's a disappointment waiting to happen. The year we decide to try October, we'll probably miss it late.
  19. Man, you guys are so spoiled. 😆 Talking about "the masses" on a 2700 pax ship. We've been sailing the mass-market mega ships (4000+) and can't wait to get on the huge Rotterdam.
  20. Why? If OP can only book one spot, that one spot sold out the excursion. That is a fact. What is NCL going to tell them that we haven't?
  21. We wouldn't want to miss an Alaskan sail away. Is it really that important when/where you eat? If you must eat at Cagney's on embarkation day (not sure why), I would attempt to change to a later time once on board.
  22. NCL's website is very good. Royal, not so much. HAL's is not at all intuitive, and difficult to navigate and find anything, at first. However, once you get the hang if it, and understand how to find what you want, it's quite good -- 90% of the time. The other 10%, I just log off and come back later.
