I would have loved to have been offered that on our Miami B2B.  I've got a B2B coming up with Venice, opps Trieste , as the turnover city.  I probably will be off the ship for the day, but might not if I can get that.

  3. Not Oceania, but friends are on the Escape which hit a sandbar trying to leave Puerto Plata, the first port.  They canceled the cruise, refunded everyone's money, and in addition they get FCC of the same value of this cruise. They are chartering flights for everyone back to Florida. My understanding the following cruise was canceled as well.   Lots of people have already left but my friends are still eating and drinking on NCL's dime.  Another hit to NCLH bottom line when they can least afford it.

  4. I have been in one of those E cabins and I would never stay in one again. I would do an inside before I would do an E.  To me they are just too small for two people.  We spent little time in our cabin, but when we were getting dressed, taking showers, etc. the two of use were bumping into each other. And the fact that you cannot open the bathroom door at the same time as the closet with the drawers at the same time was very annoying.    Glad that others like them, but for me they are a hard no.

  5. I have been in one of those Deck 3 rooms.  They are VERY quiet.  Since the hallway does not go through, you can only access from one end. That eliminates any traffic other than those who are in those rooms.  The downside is they are dark since the port hole is not huge so not a lot of natural light.

This must be what he is referring to.  The GOC website has not been updated so I can only assume that the news is informed speculation.

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/feds-to-eliminate-pre-arrival-pcr-testing-for-fully-vaccinated-canadian-travellers-source-says-1.5778453

Quote from the new article   My bold for emphasis.

The federal government is set to eliminate PCR testing requirements for fully vaccinated Canadians travelling outside of the country, a senior government source tells CTV News.

Instead of a PCR test, Canadians will be required to show proof of a negative antigen test, similar to the United States.

With this discussion of a potential crisis in the Ukraine and folks considering cancelling prior to their FP date, has anyone had the Administrative Fee charged in the past? We've always cancelled far in advance of Days stated and the FP.  See extract from O site:

    Cruises 14 days or Less:

DAYS PRIOR TO CRUISE SAIL DATE - CANCELLATION AMOUNT
    91-120 Days Prior - $250 per guest administrative fee+

Cruises 15 days or more except 180-Day Voyages:

DAYS PRIOR TO CRUISE SAIL DATE - CANCELLATION AMOUNT
    151-180 Days Prior - $250 per guest administrative fee+

+The Administrative Fee may be converted to a future cruise credit redeemable on bookings made up to 12 months after cancellation date and for travel within two years of issue.

You will definitely be charged the Admin fee if you cancel after a certain date.  It can be converted to a FCC, so if you have another cruise coming up you can apply it to that.  It cannot be rolled over forever though, it definitely has a time limit.

Was on the Oceania SA/Antarctica cruise for this Jan, 2022.  2023 is sold out.  Looking to book for 2024 as soon as dates are posted.  Does anyone know when to expect those dates to be opened?

Probably around April.  You may also want to get on a waitlist for the 2023 version.

  9. Thinking about a cruise that has stops in Greenland.  I have learned my lesson that ports that are anchored and not docked are especially iffy (ie Easter Island).  Those who have cruised to Greenland, did you make your scheduled  ports?
