  1. @erniebernie It is definitely not too early to plan. Then book as soon as they are available. If the one you want sells out don’t be afraid to look on Trip Advisor (hope I’m allowed to say that) as they offer almost identical tours from each port. If you’re going to Skagway and want to ride the train book it immediately when available.
  2. @punkybett I just logged in using Chrome and had no problems. Did you accept all cookies when asked when you logged in? Did you clear your browsing history? If you do that it will force the full page to load rather than relying on cached pages.
  3. @Tigergenesis I think my answer would depend upon your luggage. There is a very nice park along the waterfront, but getting to it can be tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing. Consider walking across the parking lot and up a set of stairs on the Magnolia Bridge where bus #33 stops. It will take you through the hard to navigate portion, there are active train tracks and fences to keep you from crossing from the street to the park. There are two pedestrian bridges that cross the tracks. Use a mapping app to see where to get off the bus and access the bridges. Is it safe? Yes, we take our grandchildren on this walk and there are tons of bikers. It can get congested. Enjoy.
  4. @Eddie Wilson Hi Eddie - I took my 9 year old grandson to Alaska last year. I had a notorized letter giving me permission with all of the cruise details listed and I had an original copy of his birth certificate. Because we went into Canada I had to take his birth certificate with me on an outing and we did not get off the ship in Victoria, B.C. I had to show his birth certificate after picking up our luggage in Seattle and he was questioned by the officer about who I was to ensure I was grandma. I worried about all of this for several weeks and never really needed to. I am taking our 5 year grandson this year to Alaska and will take the same documentation. Don’t worry. Have fun!
  5. @PORT ROYAL I guess I read the comment about adherence to standards by @WantedOnVoyage in a different way. I read it as humor. A cravat at lunch? I think he was joking.
  6. @punkybett What browser are you using and what is the machine? Are other sites working properly? Clear your browsing history and do a restart.
  7. @punkybett When is the cruise?
  8. @Windsurfboy Thanks for the information. When we disembarked last December you had to show your ticket with the color and they were announcing which colors were allowed. Sounds like they need to go back to that system.
  9. @rmsEtruria Hmmm I think either term will work. They are round objects that get hot and I wrap my hair around them and then use a metal hook to hold them in place. If I am talking to my DH and tell him the term curler would refer to my curling iron. I had both on the QM2 and they were not confiscated nor did they blow any fuses causing lights to go out on the ship.
  10. @rmsEtruria I took my travel size electric rollers with me on QM2 without a problem. I would have been a mess if they had been confiscated!
  11. @Victoria2 It would be far easier to have one list and be able to purchase in a larger quantity for every ship and distribute to the proper ports as needed. It would be interesting to know if they see a difference in what is chosen based on the area of the world where the cruise originates. Do QG passengers embarking in NY headed to Boston ordering the same items as QG touring Japan and headed to Alaska? I remember many years ago talking with a VP from HAL and learning they source all of their meat from one place and it is shipped to where it’s needed. This was many years ago so I don’t know if they still do that or not.
  12. @Host Hattie You’ve got Stephen Payne!!!!! I hope he wants to be in Boston for the 4th of July!
  13. @Victoria2 “I wonder if the list varies between the ships?” I had the same wonder, but it wouldn’t make organizational sense to do that.
  14. I actually have a long strand of pearls…do women wear a long dress or perhaps a short dressy dress?
  15. @ballroom-cruisers and @Host Hattie Your beautiful pictures have now added Cadiz to my list of places to visit. (Sherry tasting sounds like a great idea!)
  16. @ballroom-cruisers I need pictures of what women are wearing for Roaring Twenties. I don’t know what I’ll do if it shows up as a theme on our 19 day cruise.
  17. I’ll be on board June 30th. I’ll take a pic and post.
  18. @LittleFish1976 Thanks for posting. I certainly hope there is better availability now.
  19. @KroozNut I just purchased the package and yes the 18% was included in the bill. Now, I don’t remember if it was part of $69. per day, or if added at the end. I really wasn’t paying that much attention because I was shocked to see the total over $550. 🙂
  20. @firefly333 Good to know I just pay the difference. Thanks for sharing that information.
  21. Does anyone have a recent list of prices at the bar? I’ve never cruised RCI, but the price drop for our upcoming cruise is $94. down to $70. How many glasses of wine is that? How many margaritas? Thanks in advance.
  22. @AMHuntFerry Thanks very much for posting all of these pictures, especially the disembarkation information.
  23. My experience has been musicians who would like a tip have a way for you to know how to provide it. A glass on a piano with a dollar stuffed in it, an open violin or guitar case, or a can with a sign on it. Cunard may have a rule against musicians doing this. I agree with @Pushpit that purchasing a CD is a great way to provide support and IMO shows a greater regard than a tip.
  24. @saltcreekmom1 The other possibility is people won’t make final payments and rooms will open. If you’re working with a TA let it be known you want to move to a different level of cabin and keep your eye out yourself. You can do fake bookings to check. As an example we are booked on an almost all sold out cruise and the day we called to pay the deposit our TA did a quick search and a cabin that had not been available the day before opened up and we were able to book it. Good luck on getting the room you want and have fun with your daughter. I took our daughter to Italy/Rome/Med. on a cruise when she was 18 and I’ll always remember it.
