  1. Received 2 days ago. I too feel special @LibertyBella.
  2. @BklynBoy8 We have a car arranged to take us from port to JFK on July 7. That was the original booking through Cunard.
  3. @bluemarble You got to hear Stephen Payne?! I am so jealous, but very happy for you.
  4. @Victoria2 I’m so glad to hear you’re on your favorite ship in a “spacious cabin” and sorry it has poor wi if. I thought of you the other day as we learned we’re moving up from a Q5 to a Q4. Looking forward to our more spacious cabin and hoping there is a wifi box outside our door.
  5. I found my email where I was very specific that we need port to JFK on July 7. I gave my Cunard TA all of our flight details, we arrive on the 28th, not the 30th, so she booked it without my asking. I’m glad I caught it.
  6. I looked closely at our billing statement and discovered Cunard had booked us for a transfer from JFK to the port in addition to port to JFK. I called and we are receiving $120. refund.
  7. @Mercruiser We are also staying at the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge. Please leave a post regarding your experience. FYI - I, and DH, both grew up in Spokane and will be there for Memorial Day visiting cemeteries.
  8. Not many clues in this picture.
  9. Yum! It must have been good since the bottle is empty. 🙂
  10. I received an email this morning saying our bid had been accepted. We are now in a Penthouse Suite, #9060. This is an upgrade from a Q5. I bid $2,200. per person. This is after we had rebooked twice due to the price dropping. Is it worth it? Would the bid have been accepted if I had bid lower? I look at it as an opportunity to try something new for a lot less than I would normally have paid. We are at 41 days from sail date @Host Hattie.
  11. Our family makes Swedish Kurf. It is pork and potatoes, salt and pepper, stuffed into pork casing. This is a common recipe that is usually boiled. But because our family migrated across the Dakotas without refrigeration the recipe was adapted. It is hung in a warm room for several days where it cures, smells, and becomes sour. If given at birth a taste is acquired for it, if eaten post-marriage it is deemed horrible. The family gathers once a year in November at the home of the person possessing the official sausage stuffer. (The stuffer is passed generation to generation. My DH feels he won because we do not possess it) The booty is divided and eaten for breakfast on Thanksgiving. Fried eggs, hash browns and strong black coffee accompany.
  12. We did a bit of research. In the U.S. with the shipper DH looked at you can’t order lamb kidneys alone delivered because they don’t weigh enough. We thought perhaps they can’t be frozen, but how else could they have them on-board a ship? I’ll talk to my butcher and see what he says, but it will be a few weeks due to travel plans. Excited to see what @Victoria2 posts regarding texture and taste.
  13. @Victoria2 What’s the texture like? My mom made beef liver and over cooked it to leather. The spices sound interesting. I think I’ll stick with bacon/ham/sausage.
  14. @exlondoner Where do you get lamb kidneys? Do you fry them or cook them in a sauce?
  15. We pre-booked Red Hook to JFK, a large car to handle all the luggage, last December it was $200, this July it is $300. Perhaps I need to call my Cunard TA!
  16. I don’t want to take this thread off topic, so I will jump over to the Princess forums to learn more about the medallion. I would love to be able to track the location of DH, or grandsons. Thanks for pointing out the good points of the system @tacticalbanjo and @LadyL1.
  17. I’m with @D&N regarding anything I have to wear that would interfere with my baubles or scarves. I hate the feeling of those paper wrist bands I have to wear in some museums. Plastic would be like a hospital! Although I must agree with @NE John that digging a card out of my purse with my other hand clutching a cold libation is difficult. Just install photo recognition like my iPhone!
  18. @Kellie in Texas I gave him a choice, the lumberjack show was one of them. It lost to the Duck Tour. You just can’t win when a big truck is a choice.
  19. @Germancruiser Thanks for mentioning the public toilets, especially by the theater.
  20. Are 5 year olds allowed in the Arcade? Are there age appropriate games?
  21. @nimbex1970 Taking him at age 5 1/2 is young, but he earned it through behavior. This is more about being on the ship than Alaska. He wanted a water slide, but I refuse to sail Carnival. I’ll be sure to report back.
  22. @2Oldpeopleinlove Those nasty shower curtains are also in Queen’s Grill Q4 and Q5.
  23. Our paperwork says we have 7:30 dining. Yikes! I hope I can get it changed. I will take his ipad, but I have to get him to wear headphones. @kitkat343 thanks for your reminder to have his food brought first. Last year on Celebrity with the 10 year old GS they brought a small plate of carrots, etc as soon as we sat down. This will be my 4th time in Alaska, so I’ve got the tour planning all in hand. Thanks again for your post.
  24. @bluemarble Absolutely incredible! Thank you so much for posting the pictures. I can’t wait to show grandson #2, and DH. 🙂
  25. @bluemarble Did you take any close-up shots that you could post? That’s amazing! Lego sold a kit and I’m sure someone on this forum has built it. I hope the person reads the thread and posts a picture of their build. (I need to get out my calculator and convert the metric into measurements my U.S. quilting mind can picture)
