  1. @NE John I am SO glad you have had a good time on your cruise. I’ve followed along and read every post. Are you hooked on QG now?
  2. This has been a great string of fun to follow. I have enjoyed seeing new names posting, and some will be with me on the 18 day Dec. TA, and I hope we meet. Thanks to @Joe33472 for all of the hard work of posting such great information. I hope your SO has ended the voyage happy.
  3. @Megabear2 I’ve sailed Settle to Alaska 4 times and have never been through the inside passage. Q526 looks like it goes through on the eastern side of Vancouver Island, which is the inside passage. I’ve always wanted to do the White Pass train, but it has always sold out. We’ve booked it through Cunard for June, 2025. I’m probably paying more but I am determined to be on that train when it pulls out. (I don’t think you need a passport anymore because they stop and turn around before you cross the border). When I couldn’t get tickets last year I went onto Trip Advisor and booked a road tour that went over the border into the Yukon and did dog mushing with our 10 year old grandson. The mushing was interesting and the scenery amazing. Pack layers.
  4. @buchanan101 What do you mean you don’t know if the button works!!!! You HAVE to press it and find out. We’re all holding our breath. (Wait a minute, did you just bring that along and put it there to fool us?)
  5. @NE John I’m looking forward to reading your posts. Where are you staying in Vancouver and where are you eating? Thanks for the tip about using a cab for drop-off.
  6. @NE John I’m so excited for you! Enjoy QG. Have fun and please leave a review. We’re booked for the same cruise this week next year. You should have really long days due to the Solstice.
  7. @D&N Thanks for finding and posting the new list. We’ll be on her in December and my DH will surely be going through this list carefully. I hope all is well with you.
  8. Great details in your review @Jack E Dawson and it sounds like you had a grand time. Sorry to hear about the positive Covid tests and hope it doesn’t last long.
  9. Good Luck @Jack E Dawson. I feel for the people waiting to board. It reminds of the 4th of July cruise last year that was 6 hours delayed. It was a nightmare for those waiting to board. I hope you make your flight and I’m glad to hear the crossing has been good for you. (Looking at being in your city in February for Chicago Symphony Concert)
  10. I live 5 minutes from one of the two piers in Seattle where cruise ships dock. The additional bus, van, taxi, and Uber traffic can be frustrating. Lots of people in a hurry so driving crazy or lost so impeding traffic. We do our weekly shopping at Pike Place Market and wading through people taking pictures of $89. Mushrooms has become the norm. While I pack my patience the businesses pack the money bags. The six months of tourism balances the ledger for the rest of the year when only the regulars buy the mushrooms. Seattle is large enough to be able to handle the inundation of 3 large cruise ships per day, but I can’t imagine more than that. For the small towns in Alaska it must feel over the top and maybe they just need a day of peace and quiet.
  11. https://replica.seattletimes.com/infinity/article_popover_share.aspx?guid=4376b9fd-a8d8-40b2-97d7-6c1bb15ec4a5&share=true This article was in our local newspaper and points to changes in the number of ships that will be allowed into Juneau.
  12. @Cowbell Kingdom We also raid our cellar when we sail. You can’t carry it on, and you can’t send it through Luggage Forward. We put it in our checked luggage for the airport and then when we get to our hotel pre-cruise we transfer it to carry-on. We usually fly Alaska Air and they have a Wine Flies Free, and a special carrier for a case of wine, but we haven’t tried it yet and it only applies to specific cities for the wine flying free. This isn’t the cheapest way to take wine on-board but it lets us take some of our special bottles.
  13. @NE John I gave you a ❤️, but not sure after reading your description. I hope it works out well for you.
  14. @LymingtonLad We’re perhaps on the same cruise with you. We’ve never been to Zeebrugge, and I expect it to be raining. I got tired of trying to figure it all out, and worrying about it, so I booked the excursion that includes the canal and the afternoon on our own.
  15. @Bigmike911 Glad to hear you haven’t been affected by all of the storms. We get rain up here on the Pacific Coast, but it really isn’t the same as the deluge others experience. And the tornadoes? Wow. Take care —
  16. @Bigmike911 Thinking about you and the weather. I hope you are doing well.
  17. Then $275. Per person for the entire cruise is definitely worth it!
  18. @Liao Look at the December TA’s. The ship is beautifully decorated, but the west bound QG does sell out.
  19. Love the Q4 balcony, large table and chairs for dining, and the extra bathroom. $275./pp per night worth of love? Maybe not.
  20. @D&N I thought of you last night as we enjoyed this bottle. Perfect with roast chicken and morel mushroom risotto.
  21. Thanks for the link @bluemarble, that is one really cute bear. I hope I can score one in September, and if not, then in December.
  22. How exciting @NE John! We only have 2 cruises under our belts with Cunard and have booked QG from the beginning so I can’t comment on this being the norm. I’ve certainly never read of anyone receiving a phone call on CC. Is this upgrade for Alaska?
  23. @asdf1245 We have a large Tumi that will not fit under the bed. We put it in the corner of the walk-in closet. It is my understanding from other posts that they could be stored somewhere else on the ship.
  24. I love the look of the waistcoat and is very forgiving as pounds gather at the waist during the cruise. Have fun and congrats!
  25. They are available on-board in the gift shop. I can’t help you with cost for rental. You can also purchase bow tie, cuff links, etc. I would go early to make sure they have the correct size.
