  1. Currently trying to figure out how to fly Rome to Portugal. Reading reviews about Tap Air Portugal and they are not good. Anyone have experience doing this? thank you in advance
  2. That I cannot answer but maybe try calling Delta. We flew home via AMS from Cape Town in Dec. on Delta. We did claim our luggage then rechecked it back in the next day on our flight to Portland OR. It was not a problem. Both last summer and again in Dec we stayed at the Sheraton Hotel at the airport.
  3. Oops I meant when the last sea day happens to fall the night before coming back to port chic nights could end up being a day earlier. I stand to be corrected.
  4. Sea days are perfect days but considering day 6 is the night before arriving back in port and luggage needs to be out it could happen on a port day (5) We have seen it both ways.
  5. How do you put a courtesy hold on a stateroom? I can’t figure out how to do it using my cell phone. Thanks
  6. We actually changed it before our final payment is due in about two weeks. We had a non refundable deposit which we were able to just transfer over to this new cruise. Technically there is a penalty of $100 per person which we would loose but the rep was able to get it reversed so we were able to apply the whole deposit. The cruises were one week apart and both were Transatlantics. Of course the new fare was substantially higher but it did make travel easier. We did give up a SV veranda since there was not one available on the new cruise so we will discover what an Infinite veranda is all about. Mary
  7. Hi Brenda.. nice to see a post from you. We just changed a cruise yesterday and so I looked at our summary. It means you booked the all inclusive pkg and also got a 75% discount on the second passenger. I hope this helps. Mary.
  8. On the three occasions we have stayed here since July we have been able to check in and to access our room early apx 09 am. We checked in on the Bonvoy app. We last stayed here 1.5 weeks ago and left our extra luggage in storage here at the hotel while we took the train to Maastricht for a few days. It is also extremely easy to take the train into AMS Central Station as like Cotswold said the station is right underneath the Sheraton. There are carts available to help with your luggage to the hotel as well as at the hotel to assist with luggage to the Delta check in counter. Our Delta flight left out of Terminal 2 and it was a very long way to the gate! Be prepared for a lot of walking!!
  9. We flew back to Portland direct on that Delta flight. I would never attempt to do this especially on an international flight. You need time to check in get through Security and Passport control. What we have done three times now is spend the night at the Sheraton Hotel located there in the airport. It’s much more relaxing and really takes off the stress. It’s a very nice hotel. Schipol was extremely busy last summer and many people were missing flights now that more people are once again traveling. Trying to make a 1030 flight would be risky.
  10. We just flew out on Sunday. We left from Terminal 2 and the line was short. Took us about 15 min which was a whole lot better than our 3.5 hrs last July.
  11. Flying to AMS tonight. Does anyone know what the current situation is for airport security? We will be flying out again in four days. So will need to return to the airport and go through the security line. . Hoping it has improved.
  12. It’s also a long walk to get back there. If you enjoy a lot of extra steps on your Fitbit it’s a good choice. We have traveled across the Pacific twice in good seas in a SV. We loved it. The roughest for us was it was lousy weather in the NW so the first day was somewhat rolly in Sept/Oct. you do feel more movement on the Aft. We love it but others do not. The nice part about the IV is the windows open so it’s kind of like the windows on a riverboat if you have ever been one. If you have any desire to cruise in a SV you better grab it sooner rather than wait. They get snapped up fast. You can always move to an IV but it may not be possible to change your mind in Feb after you have experienced your IV.
  13. Using the tenders on the E class ships is very different than the other classes. It’s so much easier as they use the Magic Carpet which has a platform that you literally just step aboard which makes it more stable.
  14. We have done a sunset veranda on a Hawaii Cruise twice from Vancouver and we loved it. Wouldn’t do it any other way. Thanks to the OP giving us this heads up we just booked a SV veranda on the Edge deck 10 from Honolulu to Sydney 18 nights. Thank you OP. We did this cruise in 2018 on the Solstice and it is one of our favorite itineraries. Lots of sea days and beautiful ports. Looking forward to doing it again. After cruising on the Beyond in an SV last summer we love the E class of ships.
  15. From our experience the longer the cruise and the more expensive the cruise the older the demographics seem to be. We were also on the Beyond the later part of July in Europe and the demographics for that one were all over the board. There also didn’t seem to be many families. Capt Kate had her husband and Niece and Nephew with her. This was a 9 night Med Cruise. Port intensive with only one sea day which was exhausting We were also at apx 50% capacity on that cruise. We had a Sunset Veranda and we’re very happy with the size. Large veranda but it was really too hot to spend much time out there. We did a Transpacific to Australia a few years ago and there were many retired folks on that one. Many sea days which is the kind of cruise we like.
  16. Glad to report I’m happily back in on my iPhone signing in as usual. For the past year I have been having to resign in every time as CC wouldn’t keep me signed in but at least it was easy with a few taps.
  17. This am we updated our IPhone 12 Pro Max with the latest updates and now we are unable to log into CC. Previously every time I was able to hit previous user and my password would appear. Turned off phones and rebooted them. We are however able to log on with both iPads one updated and one not. What is going on? Pretty sure this is not the correct place to ask this but Celebrity cruisers are a very active group! I like to be able to use my phone!
  18. For the cruise immediately after ours for embarkation they did have to check in at one pier and we’re bussed. The rep said the pier where check in was at was not big enough for the Solstice. It was a smaller pier. This whole ordeal was an anomaly. We pd $43 ea direction for Uber. We spent the night before at the Marriott LAX Our return from pier 93 to LAX was also 43$ for the two of us. The problem was if you were close on time we were also competing with Norwegian passengers whose ship was at pier 93 who were still around.
  19. We pd $43.42 dollars to LAX in a Mercedes! For some reason our ride arrived before many of the others. I think by the time we got to terminal 93 many of the earlier Norwegian passengers had already been picked up so it was not too overly crazy! Busy yes.
  20. We booked select dining online. If you want to go at the most popular times it might be best to reserve ahead of time. We dine early so we booked early 6-6:30 ea night. When we decided to change a dining room we just showed up and they got us right in. For those that do not have Select they were assigned to one of the dining rooms.
  21. No announcements on C. We have been on four cruises in the last year (Europe Alaska and twice to Mexico) as well as a land trip involving trains in Europe we have not gotten Covid. We are also very careful. We are boosted to the max. This particular cruise was really fun and our weather was perfect.
  22. Folks withWheel chair and scooters and walkers had their own handicap smaller bus. The reason we had to do this is because both Princess and Norwegian had use of the main piers at San Pedro. We were told they had seniority. We were at a sort of makeshift pier #46. For those with early flights you need to let them know as no one could do walk off. They will place you in a earlier group. We did not get called until nearly 9:30. Then you get in a long line to clear Immigration in the dining room then another long line to walk down a very steep plank from deck 4. Then the two busses one to get luggage and place it on another bus and finally down to Pier 93 where taxi and Uber cars are. At this point we then competed with the Norwegian passengers. We made it to LAX @apx 1145! Needless to say a process and hopefully it’s not like this all the time. Our flight was not until 2p hence the reason for our late group #28.
  23. Thank you OrcaGirl for your review. We too we’re on this cruise so it was fun to read of your experiences. You have a good way with words. Sounds like you did a variety of excursions so really enjoyed your honest take on them. You two really know how to have fun. Mike and Ron who are asking about masks and coughing. Yes there was some coughers but not a lot. Very few wearing masks. No requests to wear them by staff or Capt. We are very cautious so purposely kept ourselves out of crowds. Even had our own corner in the Theatre by ourselves and we’re one of the last to leave. There was one guy who we particularly noticed so stayed well clear of him. Would see him at El Bacio. Unfortunately today through all the chaos of disembarking and on and off again shuttle buses just to get to where we could get an Uber we found ourselves several rows behind the cougher who made no effort to protect anyone else. We made sure we wore masks on those busses. Others got them out and put them on. Fingers crossed 🤞 Several years ago we did the Airport transfer excursion Timekiller. Got a glimpse of Rodeo Drive. Ended up costing us a 50$ taxi to get back to LAX from Santa Monica! Make sure you have a really late in the afternoon flight!!
