  1. Oh the life of a cruiser trying to find a place to hang out while most everyone else is off the ship.
  2. Wondering if anyone has been able to get internet on a Transatlantic?
  3. I know I have seen this many times about many of us having 0 cruises and shows our status as pretty low when in fact we are not far from elite plus. Celebrity has most of our cruises listed and says we have X but only gives us credit for part of them. We are missing about 3 of them which puts us at close enough to be making a difference. …..How do we contact the Capt Club? ……We can nearly come up with the dates from photos we have leaving port. With the X symbol. …..if we can get an email we can send the evidence. Thank you.
  4. We will also be on the Transatlantic in April and during the crossing it will no doubt be windy and too cold to be out there. Hoping while in the Med we will have the chance. Last summer on the Beyond we tried numerous times but could not get a table. We did not want to sit in the smoking area. Sure hope the service picks up. Pretty sure Capt Kate would not be pleased to see what you have described happening. We are enjoying your 46 days onboard.
  5. Besides staying an extra night by the airport with a free shuttle @0500 we got through the airport pretty quickly and had plenty of time to sit and have a relaxing breakfast. It was definitely worth it for peace of mind. A lovely hotel nearby that we used was the Salles Ciutat del Prat Barcelona Airport. We also discovered after we checked in we saw two other couples from our CC Roll call there.
  6. When we arrived back in Barcelona instead of racing to our flight we decided to spend a night in a hotel by the airport that offered a free shuttle that way we could relax and get to the airport early with no worries.
  7. That could be but we didn’t buy the cheapest tickets. The seats that were $100 more were right behind us and there are still quite a few seats left on that flight which is now a week later. Sometimes we have found the more you play around with it the price increases. There must be a way of recognizing a device! These tickets were purchased 3.5 months out so for International travel that’s getting pretty close.
  8. After I finished booking International tickets for the end of May (Delta) I went back in to look at something on another device and that one way ticket was nearly $100 more! This was 15 min later.
  9. I read an interesting solution on another board. This guy would simply remove the hogs books and their bags etc and take them to Guest Relations and tell them that “I think someone lost these” In some cases the hogs had even left them before going out on an excursion and it was until the afternoon before they returned!
  10. Well if you have taken a look at the prices on Sunset balconies lately you will see that they already did that awhile ago. They are considerably more than a regular balcony! Currently on our Transatlantic there is one sunset left and it is about 1500$ more than a regular veranda. This is on the Beyond. LET THE RACE BEGIN!!!
  11. When on a 777 we usually pick seats in the center section 3-4-3. that way hopefully one of you can have an end seat. Easier for bathroom visits in the middle of the night. If for any reason you need a little more time for boarding go with the early boarding group when they call for those needing extra time that way you can get your bag in the overhead. If you’re running between flights you definitely do not want to gate check it! We traveled on a 2 week cruise and a week land trip in rollaboards last summer. We only did that because of huge fiasco at Schipol. It’s definitely doable but you really need to plan wardrobe. Glad you got your flights.
  12. You can book Delta as an open jaw flight. PDX-AMS- Rome Home Lisbon -Portland.
  13. We are from Portland OR. We booked our own air so we have control over it. We are also flying home from Lisbon. Different Cruise. What we are doing is flying from Lisbon to JFK on Delta (direct) Spending a night in a hotel near the airport and then flying to PDX the next day. We decided to do the last part of our trip on Alaska Air. We also wanted to break up the long trip into two manageable segments. We could have done it on Delta with the nonstop from AMS but it makes for a really long day and a possible snafu in AMS if anything is delayed and you have a marathon run through Schipol Airport coming from Lisbon with 1hr40 min. connection. We are also in our early 70’s!! We flew twice last year through AMS to PDX and it is a good flight but we started there. The Airport Scene was a nightmare in July but the flight itself was good. Delta segment Lisbon to AMS is operated by KLM.
  14. We have a b2b after our TA. It is only 8 days so we do not need to test for that second cruise. Our TA does not need to be a monitored one.
  15. Take a look on Celebrity website. It all depends. Transatlantic sand Transpacific yes on test but not necessarily monitored.
  16. Thank you for the warning. Just took a look at both of ours as we made these reservations 5 days ago and so far we are good.
  17. We also took a pretty good medicine cabinet with us. I did check liquid otc cough syrup we brought onboard in our luggage for our flight. I then had it in my hand carried w/o a problem for our Med cruise. The only time I had a problem carrying cough syrup onboard a flight was coming home from London. I had bought some cough syrup in Sweden at a pharmacy and they took it because I did not have a prescription!! Meaning official pharmacy label on it at Security. Since then I have learned to check all otc liquids and gels. I’m not going to give them an opportunity to take my luggage apart or ME!!
  18. Yes that can be true. It’s up to you how honest you want to be and how much do you care about others! I do agree that a non monitored test is about as good as no testing at all and personally we do not like the idea especially on a transatlantic or transpacific cruise when we are all confined inside a ship for so many days. If we are doing these long cruises and we are too it’s a risk we all are having to accept and be responsible about it.
  19. There can be proof when the photograph was taken. In your photo library pick a photo and then slide it up. The date and time photo was taken are underneath. I inserted an example.
  20. Renting a golf cart on Catalina is a fun thing to do. Easily accommodates 4. Like others have said two hrs is all you need. I would get off early and beeline for the rental. If you don’t make it with the first batch stand in line or come back later. They had quite a few carts.
  21. 17 Mile Dr was very easy driving to Carmel. When we were there we rented a car thru Enterprise. They came and picked us up at the port and dropped us off afterwards back at the Port. This way we could linger where we wanted to. It made for a very pretty and fun day.
  22. We were on a similar sailing to you only we did not stop in Catalina or San Diego. Enjoyed your review. You certainly described everything very accurately. We too really enjoyed the cruise with less than 50% capacity. We did fly into LAX the day before and got a very good rate at the Marriott there. We even had a shuttle to the hotel. The next morning we took an Uber to the Port. Which made life a lot easier with no traffic.
  23. Finally decided to book TAP for mid May. Needed a checked bags and hand carried luggage and a seat assignment. Even upgraded to extra legroom all for apx $135 ea. Dk hopefully that does get us covered.
  24. Thank you to all who helped us. I am going to look at TAP today for May flights.
