In the princess plus package it includes two casual dining meals that are prix fixe.  What does this mean?  What restaurants can you use it at and what does it include?

    Emerald Princess?

    Vines & Salty Dog pub

Maybe Steamers and Planks- pop ups??

well, glad you did some more investigating and yes, the cruise packages can potentially be a good deal.

It all comes down to how much you think you’re going to drink & what or if you think you’ll want to use the Wi-Fi , also depends on how port intensive your cruise is -if you’re going to be away from the ship many, many days then you’re not going to get your drink or Wi-Fi package benefits for that day pretty much. But a lot of people do the cruise fare only and no packages at all. They just pay as you go and some of them feel that’s worth it to them.
Most people just leave the crew gratuities in place if they do the cruise only fare ,so just have to take that into consideration as well  & how much you think you’ll drink .Only you can decide if it’s worth the extra charge for you .

So many choices and price points to consider for some.

$80./ day x number of cruise voyage per guest for Premier cruise package. $60. For plus cruise package per day x cruise voyage per guest.

You didn’t say if all three of you were sharing one cabin, there might be some difficulty to that as far as the packages go, but somebody can chime  in about that. I’m not sure if the first two people in the cabin need to purchase the package but if you are in a cabin solo, then I think you can do your own package, but I’m not sure that.

    Happy cruising.

  3. @trintrav I’m enjoying your Live.

As far as packages for @chepar they said they were not interested in the cruise packages that include Wi-Fi,tips, speciality meals, etc.
So I was providing information about beverage packages and the confusion some may have because the names are so similar.

Maybe @chepar wants no package and pay as they go for their Scotch? I think they are investigating & gathering information & options at this point.

  4. @tanzer22pilot

maybe you could ask on this forum what kind of question that you have for the dining room.

Perhaps somebody knows the answer ?

Sometimes you will find in your patter/event listing upon embarkation to go to a particular dining room if you have dining issues. Or just show up at the dining room between noon and 130 that is open on embarkation day for lunch and you can speak to someone. And if none of those work, go to guest services and ask where you can speak to somebody in person.

  5. Ship is heading or in Ireland according to the itinerary they posted. I have not looked at any cruise websites( i.e. marine traffic, etc) to see if they’re actually in port or not just looked at the authors itinerary that they posted. I also have not looked at the weather for the area. Sorry for the OP/author that they’ve been having quite a few rough nights.

  6. @chepar

it’s a little confusing with Princess as far as their packages.
They have what they call a plus beverage package and one can get beverages up to $15 USD. And they also have a premier beverage package and it’s for top shelf premium beverages up to $20 USD.
They also have packages where they bundle ( called plus & premier cruise packages) certain items as you mentioned. If you just go to princess.com and use the search function you may come up with what you’re looking for. Not always ,it’s not an easy site to search. I don’t think. The Princess website tells you how much the package is and that price is usually per day for the length of your cruise. It also describes all the ins and outs of the package.

  7. @chepar Here is what I found Scotch wise on Princess, some of the menus may have increased the price ,this is approximate at this point. Some of the ships mix the menus from Scotch and then some include them under the whiskeys. Someone had posted what they could get on the ocean now menu and then the other menu is from Crooners, it does not seem like every bar has scotch .

Maybe you can find someone that is on the ship ( The Diamond) that you’re considering or booked on and maybe perhaps they would post the scotch menu for you , that way you can decide on a drink package.
I believe you can maybe look at a few of the bars once you get on board to see if they have the scotch that you would like and then purchase the beverage only package?? Of course you would have to purchase it on the first day or you’d be losing out on the package per se.IMG_9902.thumb.jpeg.f57e0ef99b99a7709df21d1b3ec89781.jpegIMG_9903.thumb.jpeg.3f3f0522d805603d207a820618cd75b7.jpegIMG_9904.thumb.jpeg.2297518db3ec2faf224e57c10edf0e58.jpegIMG_9905.thumb.jpeg.4a0939651644e2b2eceabb4d15de1ef0.jpegIMG_9906.thumb.jpeg.0256c7f68dcd99dad9adb6fd6b03d549.jpegIMG_9907.thumb.jpeg.76a47488b7e037a1527e015ed4b4861d.jpegIMG_9908.thumb.jpeg.c5d64dfd2938ee2eee0b5b790a0c5019.jpeg

  8. @Tennant

hopefully someone that’s been on a California coastal will answer or post their patters a.k.a. event listings. The latest California coastal was April 27 to May 4 .LA to Vancouver and there is a thread out there that says just got off the Discovery Princess - @highloyo screen name. Maybe you could ask them ,they have not posted any Patters .

Although it was not a California coastal, it was a Mexican cruise on the Discovery Princess February 24 to March 2. @New2cruise2022 They had many patters, menus, and lots of information  & you can also find them under supervalue bros .

I don’t know where your ship leaves from or gets into?  is your cruise round-trip? If so, Chicago to Long Beach on Southwest is my tip. The airport is very easy to get to and from the port of LA.

other tips/ tricks are out there. Don’t know what you’re looking for?

On our recent Caribbean Princess cruise there was a nightly Elite lounge in Skywalkers with drinks and nice small bites.  Also the Elite (and Platinum I think) departure lounge for disembarkation day.

Yes, if you are platinum status, elite status, or in a suite( some ships have dedicated lounges for suites) there is usually an evening hors d’oeuvre bar/lounge set aside for this every evening except for when the captain circle party is happening. If your ship has a skywalkers, it could be held in skywalkers or take five lounge, etc. But you do pay for the drinks or if you have a plus or premier package it is included. Hors d’oeuvres are complementary and you should receive a card in your cabin that tells you each nights menu. And if you don’t receive that card, ask your cabin steward.

Yes, there is also upon embarkation an area to meet if you are elite, platinum, & suite and it’s just a place to wait for your luggage tag to be called. Sometimes they have coffee and juice in there and water and maybe some danishes ,but in our experience, we’ve already eaten breakfast that morning and usually most everything is gone -so don’t count on it to eat breakfast in that lounge. There’s also the same type of waiting area ( in the port building)upon embarkation as well, but we’ve never really needed it. They usually are already boarding.

  10. You would think that Princess would have somebody dedicated to all the deck plans/website changes , but I’m sure it comes down to lack of  money ??

We are definitely a society now hooked on technology and fast information. But apparently Princess and possibly other cruise lines and other businesses are just not in the mood to update these things that we all rely on.
Agree, the barrel chairs have been gone for a long while And some sort of chair needs to be brought back, but I guess that’s not happening. I know my mom when she cruises totally misses the barrel chair because otherwise when there’s two people in a cabin, there’s nowhere to sit except for the desk chair or the bed or if you get a cabin with a sofa, which she says isn’t very comfortable, but better than nothing at all.

thank goodness for this forum so we can all help each other out with  what is real/ true on the deck plans and other “stuff”.

  11. So for those onboard currently. I see the letter that you were given by the captain. It says any adjustments to taxes , fees, and port expenses associated with these changes will be automatically credited to your onboard account.

So does that mean all current passengers need to spend that onboard? Or go to the casino and try to cash out?  Just curious. For some not a problem to have that money absorbed to obc folio. Some have a bunch of obc already ,so it doesn’t benefit them. Did they say if these adjustments are refundable OBC? Probably not a big amount of OBC?

  12. @davy jones here’s the current Princess website information-whether they’ve updated it or not ??

if you’re really interested in fresh or frozen maybe see if someone has the menus posted from the current Alaska sailing. Since the Alaska cruises have just begun. I am assuming the cook my catch is a very expensive experience. IMG_9896.thumb.jpeg.8d1a95b4cfc05655586d593a5e631120.jpegIMG_9895.thumb.jpeg.a3b0b4d56a3c960a7ba59842d53856cd.jpeg

  13. @davy jones probably on small chartered yachts -yes potential of crew going ashore in AK and getting fresh salmon. Not the big cruise lines.

You could go on an excursion to a salmon bake or a restaurant to have fresh salmon while ashore.

As someone else said -if you take a fishing excursion (select ones )you can have your fresh fish prepared for lunch or dinner in the dining room. Who knows if they’re still doing those? I have seen it advertised, but no first-hand knowledge.

  14. @memoak

i’m not sure why you keep quoting me. Yes I’m responding and so are you. But probably should be directed at the author. I have no control on what cruise line they choose. I am just offering my opinion, but the author seems to be OK if their teens are the only ones on the ship ,they like the itinerary and they want to go north in the summer. Maybe staying home is not an option for the teens.? Not my decision.

This will make me sound very old but I do not remember being asked for vacation input when I was a teen. We were just thankful to have a vacation

Op says teens are grateful for the vacation .

but in saying that …..times have changed and some families that can afford a vacation ,because not all can .sometimes they enlist the opinions of their children.

  16. @carrieholden I don’t know how to share other posts, but there is a title -Live from Enchanted Princess 7 day to western Caribbean…. Author is :By 2 to Sea.

it was April 27 to May 4. They do have some menus posted, but I don’t know which day is which. I believe they have the second formal night gala dinner posted and a few others.

  17. @Castaway Cowgirl I don’t believe if you’re just purchasing daily Internet like occasionally ,I don’t think there’s ever a stoppage.
If you’re trying to purchase a Wi-Fi package onboard then yes ,I’m sure there’s a point that they stop offering it -you would not want to have to pay for all seven days if you didn’t use the Internet on day one and two etc.

The package for one device, which basically means one device at a time, so if you and your cabin mate don’t want to use the Internet at the same time ,you can use two different devices. The package price is $24.99 times the amount of days of your voyage. And if you are platinum and above status then you get 50% off in the form of on board credit.
Maybe someone knows the daily price if you just get Internet occasionally .I’m actually not sure on that price -$30 for 24 hour??

    • Thanks 1
  18. @Castaway Cowgirl yes you can buy Wi-Fi onboard any day that you need it.( i .e. 24 hour period) You do not have to buy for the whole week if your cruise is for example seven days. Of course it’s most likely a higher price per day than a package per day ,if you buy it -let’s say on a Monday and a Wednesday ( daily rate), but if that’s all you need wi fi ,then yes you can buy it for whatever days you need. But of course you can buy it onboard your cruise as well or you can purchase it on the app( for length of cruise package only )before you cruise .

If you only need it for a few days here and there, then you cannot purchase it in advance, I do not believe. You just do it when you get onboard.

  19. @Usuallyrightagainso this is a 10 day round-trip on the Island Princess in June 2025 from New York to Canada, correct?

Is there any possibility that the four of your teens would be fine hanging out together ? Are they all siblings? Are they cousins etc. ?

Since this is summertime, I’m sure that there will be some teens onboard? I think it’s difficult to say at this point in time and would your decision change on itinerary or cruise line if there was none onboard or very few?

It is possible to go onto your roll call or start a roll call and ask if others that are booked on your voyage if they have teens or is it even possible to call Princess before your final payment is due and see how many teens are booked? I don’t know if they give that information out or not on any cruise line?

  20. @tjcletzgo I don’t think you meant December 14 ,but anyways …obviously just keep monitoring everything i.e. meaning cruise critic and any other social media platforms and see how many of the next cruises are affected and you have about one month before you really need to decide ,since your final payment is in June, if your cruise is still going to your satisfaction at that point. Only you can decide if you’d like to cancel or not or move to another ship, etc. It will depend on what type of deposit you made etc. if you cancel before final payment.

If this cruise is  definitely a bucket list item and you’ve never been to Alaska. Yes, you definitely have a decision to make. I think at this point nobody has a crystal ball to know what ship is not going to be following the itinerary that it’s supposed to or if the Sapphire is going to continue to have problems, I think nobody knows this for sure .

Can anyone on board confirm that someone is working on the problem? We may cancel this cruise, much to my regret🛳️

Do you sail soon or is final payment soon?

    I am not onboard.

I think if you are at the end of the season, time will tell for you.

I am sure they are working on the issue, I believe there was a letter posted somewhere from the captain.Post #37
