  1. As I posted after, it was a typo. We board Dec 20th in FLL for a B2B.
  2. @dchip Denise and Howie, if I bet a million bucks that that was you, would I be a winner??!!?? 😋
  3. Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news but at least now you know what to expect. Here's hoping you test negative on the 20th! 🙏
  4. Unless they've changed the protocol since March when we tested positive on Zuiderdam, the day a person tests positive is counted as Day 0 and you must test negative on Day 5 (which is actually the sixth day one's been isolated) to be released; if still positive, it's mandatory full 10 days (and release on the eleventh day). Either way, it's boring as hell and I can't imagine doing it without a verandah.
  5. Thanks. And I just noticed the typo … we board Dec. 20th, not the 5th. 🤪
  6. Hi, Kris - we spent 18 days in July in 7090 which is directly across from 7079 and it was very quiet. BUT if I were going to pick one, I'd probably skip 7079 because there is a larger crew area with stairs on one side and you might hear noise on that adjoining wall. I'd also suggest avoiding 7078 (adjacent to small crew area) but any of those forward of there would be good, as long as the door opens to the Port side hallway (the Starboard side gets a bit more traffic due to the two additional doors into the Neptune Lounge and its food prep/storage areas). We walked by all of those on Port side many times a day and it was very quiet. Hope that helps! Barb
  7. @cwd79 Just a thought and of course I don't know if it would work for you but another option is for you to do the Zaandam December 20th cruise and then stay on for her next segment which is the 16 day sailing with a full Canal transit that ends in San Diego on January 21st. Maybe HAL would be more willing to let you switch by doing that? Hope you find something that works out for you!
  8. No need to check their itinerary. We're booked on that cruise too and Half Moon Cay is Day 2, Nassau is Day 15 and Bimini is Day 16.
  9. @Scrapnana Inquiring minds (who will be boarding Zaandam December 5th for 32 days 😆) wonder if they've started installing the new flat-panel TVs?
  10. Our fav for local grindz is the Highway Inn Kaka'ako location, with the bonus that it's within walking distance of the pier, on Ala Moana. We also enjoy walking around that neighborhood looking at all the great street art.
  11. Just got this email today. New Antarctica Promo (on select sailings) - ANTARCTICA SUMMER SALE All-Inclusive from $11,995* Plus, FREE International Airfare ASK FOR OFFER: ANT22 Antarctica Sale (viking.com)
  12. Yikes! How long were you stuck and did you have company or was it just the two of you? Did you spend the day with your family in Hilo yesterday?
  13. Heard you had a nice visit with @catletCathy and Jim! 👍
  14. We both tested positive in March on Zuiderdam while in French Polynesia. Thankfully by the time we disembarked on April 3rd back in San Diego we were both negative so no shore-side quarantining required (just 10 days onboard). Our FCC's were available to use by around April 26th so not even a month. Of course, YMMV.
  15. We, like you, have a lot of OBC on top of the HIA package on our Zaandam B2Bs in December/January and were planning to spend some on a Rudi's pop-up. Sounds like that won't be happening. Wonder if any of the other specialty evening dinners (e.g., PG Gala, Cellar Masters, etc.) will still be around?
  16. I'm not sure you even need to go that much trouble (have your spouse check-in and switching tag, etc. after). I actually asked a Shore Excursions agent on the phone a few weeks ago about letting my husband use some of mine and she said "Should be easy to do as nobody checks to see if the person checking in matches the virtual ticket on your phone; they are far too busy to do that. Just sign up under your name and your husband goes." Guess it's worth a shot.
  17. Don't forget that the Neptunes on Deck 7 of the few remaining R class ships are directly below the Lido deck so you can definitely get noise from above. We only book Neptunes on those ships that are directly under Canaletto which provides some amount of buffering but friends who were Port side under the pool area and said never again.
  18. We always request it if it's not there and have never been denied on any HAL ship.
  19. Elemis Shampoo, Conditioner, and Shower Gel are all in separate bottles. Bar soap is available and if it's not there, just ask for it. We prefer bar soap over shower gel so always get one bar for each sink and one for the shower.
  20. Our first HAL cruise was in 2004. We have sailed on 13 HAL cruises (avg. length 19 days) and just reached 5* this summer after #13. We always book suites so that gives us double points which add up quickly. Add in points for onboard spending and, well, here we are.....
  21. Currently in 518 but prefer more midship. 536 and 533 are both available but I'm a bit concerned about potential for crew noise as they go in/out of or up/down within either of those areas for 47 days (am noise-sensitive so pretty specific where I will or won't book on any ship).
  22. What are the white spaces shown below, just aft of and directly adjacent to 533 and 536? And are those stairs for crew only? Thx.
  23. We received notification that our December 20th departure from Port Everglades has also been moved up an hour, from 4pm to 3pm. My first thought was that it was due to several ships being in that day but everything I can find shows we're the only one that day so no idea why they changed it. No other changes to the 16 day itinerary.
  24. Ohhhhhh..... you just reminded me! I fell in love with a Mary Frances small crossbody/phone bag with ladybugs on it on Nieuw Statendam in July but didn't buy it (and they told me they aren't allowed to discount them). Maybe I'll get lucky and Zaandam will have it in December and I'll buy it with the insane amount of non-refundable OBC we'll have!
  25. John has a Citizen Eco-Drive and really likes it.
