  1. We got our block at 140 on the Navigator last January. I knew that we would get one on that cruise. I didn't ask about it...it just showed up in our room during the cruise.

Just a word of caution for those of you that get blocks on your cruise and have to fly home...Pack it safely in your checked luggage. I put it in my carry on beach bag and when it went through security at the airport, they did a bag check and pulled the block out of its box and swabbed the block.

  2. Familycruiser, I'm on the same cruise with you (and from Minnesota, too) I get seasick easily and the only way I can go on a cruise is by taking Ginger pills. I start taking them a day before we fly and then while on the cruise, I take two in the morning and two more before dinner. I continue taking them a couple of days after we get home. That takes care of that feeling of still being on the ship and swaying.

On my first cruise many years ago, I used the patch prescribed by my Doctor. BIG MISTAKE for me. I was so sick from the side effects...dry mouth, vision problems, etc.

Give the Ginger pills a try. They were tested on the Mythbusters TV show and proven they work.

  3. Thanks for the advice, Mango. I'm still very much a Priceline newbie (last year was my first time) so I'll be sure to remember your advice next time. I'm still not going to complain, though as the prices I got are still much better than what my TA is quoting for a stay at the Holiday Inn Express (which isn't even right on the beach!) :)

You still got a good deal. I can't imagine paying full price for a hotel anymore. I'd much rather have a 4 star hotel for half price than stay at a cheap hotel. I've been spoiled by the great deals I've got on Priceline. ;)

  4. I just submitted two bids on Priceline. One for a 3-night pre-cruise stay in late January 2012. I bid $110/night for 'Resort' level in San Juan (hoping to get Marriott Stellaris) which was rejected but was offered an immediate re-bid if I would agree to up my bid to $140/night. I did so and ended up getting 3 nights at the Intercontinental (which I know nothing about). I see, however, that pghflyer above did much better than me.

Croptop...just a little advice I've learned from several years of bidding on Priceline for hotels. When you bid and they reject it and offer an immediate re-bid if you up your price to what they say...Don't go for it. Wait 24 hrs. and up your bid by $5 - $10 and you'll probably get it.

By the way, I got the Intercontinental for first week of January 2012 for $120. My first bid was rejected at $115 so I waited 24 hrs. and re-bid successfully at $120.

  5. I tend to get seasick. On my first cruise back in 1992 on the Sovereign, I used the patch and got very sick from the side effects from it. Since then on my other cruises, I take Ginger Pills. They are a natural supplement and have been proven to be effective. I would never go on a cruise without my Ginger Pills! I take 2 pills in the morning and 2 more before dinner. I also start taking them at least a day before we sail.

I'm doing a B2B on the Allure in January. I can't wait to see how much different the motion is on the Allure to the Radiance class ships.

  6. My first cruise was on the Sovereign of the Seas, February 1992. At the time it was the biggest cruise ship in the world. It was a seven day cruise to Nassau, San Juan and St. Thomas. We really enjoyed the cruise, but the best part of it was that I won the trip through a drawing by my employer.

That was the beginning of my cruise addiction! :D
