We just stayed at the Downtown Miami Hilton last Sunday 1/24/10. Bought it on Priceline for $85 per night for a 3 1/2*. We upgraded to a bayview room for $25 extra. We had a wonderful corner room on the 14th floor with a great view of the port. Well worth the $25 upgrade. It was a very nice hotel. We'd stay there again!

I am a long time user of Priceline and have been bidding for Miami Downtown for April 9 before our Navigator of the Seas cruise.
I have bid up to $95. for a 3 star and no luck. I checked the rates on the hotel websites and they are running from $149 - 189 for hotels like Marriott Bayside, Hyatt Regency and Hilton or this date.
I have checked biddingfortravel and most people seem to get a hotel in this zone for much less than $100.
Perhaps inventory is not released yet. I am thinking there is not a special event of some sort going on cause the rack rates are not high.
Any thoughts?
I am a Priceline junkie and I too, was bidding on a hotel in Downtown Miami. I needed a room for Jan. 24 and started with a $50 bid for 3*. It was rejected. Over the next week, I bid every day on a 4* and re-bid on a 3 1/2* and 3* hotel. On the last day that I bid, it rejected my $95 bid for a 4*. Finally, it accepted my bid of $85 for the Hilton Downtown Miami, which is a 3 1/2*. I see a few posts previous to this that someone got the Hilton for $72, but it was a week and a half earlier than what I needed.
I've used Priceline many times, but this was the most difficult bidding experience I've had. It won't stop me from using it again though. :)
Just a thought Emmy, maybe your bids aren't being accepted because it's Spring Break time and it's supply and demand?

My daughter also got the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina hotel for $50 on Priceline.
Ft. Lauderdale Downtown 4* 12/5/09

Most of the hotels in the downtown area start at about the $150 price point but to get that rate you need to use Priceline or Hotwire. Last season we were seeing Priceline rates at the Hyatt Regency at about $150 this year we have we have learned of Priceline rates at the Sutton Place at about $135 and just this afternoon someone posted of a Hotwire rate at the Westin Grand at even below those numbers. If you decide to bid on one of these service look at the area "downtown - west" and would bid for 4* and higher. In that area and at that * level you will get a good hotlel at a good price.
I bid on Priceline for a 4* Downtown Vancouver hotel and got the Westin Grand for $100 per night. We will be there May 19-22.

Has anyone got any good deals on a nice hotel in Vancouver for May 2009?

I have 9584 booked on the Radiance for Alaska next May. I like the fact that it's on the hump and I'll be able to see forward and aft. :)

I need to bid on a 3* hotel near Disneyland for early November, through Priceline. Has anyone bid on this area lately? How much and which hotel did you get? Thanks in advance!

And not bad to look at either! Lucky you!
We had him on Radiance for our Alaska cruise in 2006.
Hubba, hubba! :o :p :D
Now that I think about it, it wasn't on the Brilliance, it was the Radiance in January of 2006.
Yes, he's not too bad to look at...and I had a good look at him since he was sitting right next to me! :D

I had breakfast with Capt. Hernan Zini on the Brilliance in 2006. He was very nice to talk with!

We're sailing on a B2B on the Jewel in January. I'm sure we're going to enjoy the Jewel just as much as we enjoyed the Radiance and the Brilliance. We love the Radiance class ships!

I was just on the Brilliance in December. I went to the champagne bar and asked the bartender about the card, but he said "no, they didn't offer it" I was bummed, to say the least. :(
Warning about the Scopolamine Patch -- Please Read
in Cruise Rituals

I tend to get seasick, so I take 2 Ginger pills in the morning and 2 before dinner every day of the cruise. I start taking them the day before we sail. I have found that for me the first and second days are the worst as far as how I feel, so I have started to take Dramamine with the Ginger pills the first day or so and then just the Ginger pills. That seems to work for me. I don't believe that Bonine makes you sleepy.
I tried the Scop patch on my first cruise in 1992. I had a terrible reaction to it...blurred vision, dry mouth and a terrible withdrawl from it when I took it off. I have never used it since.
I would never go on a cruise without Ginger pills...they work! :)
