  1. Just returned from the Equinox and we booked Le Petit Chef at the last minute on the last evening even though my husband wasn't keen on it. We both loved it! Excellent presentation and the food was just as good as any other specialty restaurant if not better. With one minor problem. I noticed the feta in my tartlet was runny as my husband's was not although it tasted fine I just thought that was unusual, maybe it was just the watermelon or tomato liquid that made it runny but it really shouldn't do that with feta. Had a lovely dinner and really enjoyed it. However I was quite ill very suddenly 15 minutes after leaving there and thankfully we were already in our cabin. It reminded me of when this happened once before after dining at a Brazilian restaurant, within a half hour I was quite ill. It might not have been from Le Petite Chef of course but I was fine after about an hour and felt fine the next morning going home, so I don't suspect Noro. Just an FYI maybe stay away from the tartlet if the feta is runny.😉
  2. Can someone please remind me where I can find information on where the bed is placed in a specific cabin? I'm looking at Celebrity Reflection cabin 6251. There wasn't much left when we booked this but this cabin seemed to be the best of the worst in terms of partial obstruction. Thanks in advance for your help. .
  3. Yes as of todayContinental breakfast is free for all passengers.
  4. We're coming up on our 4th cruise since the covid restrictions were lifted and have 50 something cruises under our belts . Celebrity is in the majority but we like to experience other cruise lines as well from RCCL and X to more upscale or whatever is convenient for us at the time. We are no longer loyal to any one cruise line. We've been on RCCL and X in the last year or so and are quite aware of the changes that have occurred. I was just making the point about Carnival food quality because they have a low brow reputation by some cruise snobs but the 2 times we sailed with them the food was very good. However I wouldn't be surprised if they've lowered their standards and quality just like the other mainstream cruise lines using covid as the excuse.
  5. Yikes, that sounded like a threat. Maybe these people shouldn't be allowed in there at all if they're going to make threats to other passengers. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and hopefully those passengers are advised by ship's staff the proper rules of behavior. I'm sure threatening to ruin the other guest's cruise is not one of them.
  6. I don't know what their food is like recently but it was surprisingly good on Carnival the 2 times we sailed out of Norfolk, most recently 4 years ago.
  7. Prime Rib showing day 1 on our April Equinox sailing. DH will be happy about that. 🙂
  8. I checked in for our April Equinox sailing yesterday and the earliest time available was 1pm. We're in a CC and really enjoy the boarding day lunch but checking in that late could make us miss it. Why doesn't X take that into consideration when assigning check in times? Any way I called X customer service and the first rep said yes they could change it but had to transfer me to a different dept. So after a total of 58 minutes I finally get through to a rep who immediately said no, check in time could not be changed. She put me on hold for another 6 minutes and still said no but to just arrive early. 😏
  9. We were going to do this again as we did it on the Eclipse and loved the privacy of it and having a set place outside all day on a sea day since it can get really crowded by the pool. But... the cabanas on the Equinox look like cages to me. There's no way to get sun You mentioned a butler. Are you in a suite?
  10. I'm guessing the name of the 5th E series ship will be "Ultimate".
  11. Yes they are! That's my go to drink at Elite Happy Hour. 😁 Cheers!
  12. Okay, thank you for clarifying that but someone else might not already know that nor be aware of the benefit if this was the only place they looked.. I see it under the general tier benefits, but with it missing here under my account it could cause confusion. Which it has.ðŸĪŠ
  13. I'm not very proficient at this obviously. 😆 The screen shot also shows too much. Sign into your account and click on your CC # and click view benefits. It does not say 15% off drink package or upgrade to premium. It just says 10% upgrade to premium
  14. To the OP, sorry your plans were ruined. We've been on cruises that have skipped ports for various reasons and each time they said port fees will not be refunded. I'm pretty sure 2 of them were on RCCL. I myself would be happy to skip SFO, with the state of that city these days you'd need to carry disposable gloves, sanitizer, a can of mace and antibiotics just to walk around certain parts. And watch where you're stepping. 😎
  15. Last week there was only 1 spot left for the De Palm Island shore excursion at 96.00 so I booked 1 for DH in hopes I could book another for myself when on board. Yesterday more spots opened up so I booked 1 for myself at the new price of 116.00 (up to 139.99 onboard price). I won't even bother calling X about the price difference, the hassle is not worth $20.00. So we were doing the math on drink packages and last week the Elite discount was 15%, not sure about Elite Plus at the time but today the discount is now 10% for Elite/Elite plus. We hadn't planned on getting a package anyway but now any kind of incentive is gone. We've done suites before as a splurge yet they were still affordable. Not any more. At least on the sailings we will consider. Won't bother bidding for move up as Suites show full and the move up minimum is not worth it. Concierge is fine for us. I'm sure we'll have a lovely cruise, we always do, but our decades of loyalty to X has disappeared at this point with their cost cutting and nickel and diming. We've recently heard good things about MSC suites and their pricing blows X out of the water. I know in the past they haven't had a great rep but right now neither does X so what can we lose? A cruise is a cruise. Eat, drink, dance, see shows, visit ports, sit by the pool. If I can save thousands doing it all the better. Would love to hear opinions from any X cruisers that also have sailed with MSC.
  16. Just reading a recent Summit review and they stated "bars on the Summit are closed on sea days." I would think that would be cause for mutiny, jk. But seriously that can't be true, can it? Anyone experience this recently?
  17. We declined the $1700 - $2000.00 drink packages because if we ever have a $2000 bar tab we've got other problems, but then we were thinking of getting 2 bar set ups (DH likes rum, I prefer vodka) that would last us 9 nights but now with the latest increase they've lost that sale too. With the Elite happy hour, wine on our balcony at sunset and a couple of fancy drinks by the pool we'll be fine. We were also about to buy the 4 night dining package. Nope, they only had 1 slot left and wouldn't open up another so they lost that sale as well. We don't need 5 or more nights of specialty dining so we bought 1 night at Tuscan Grill. So thanks Celebrity you just saved us a boat load of money to use on shore.
  18. Thanks, even though I can't understand the logic of it. I went back to book the 1 reservation and now it's sold out. I refuse to buy a 5 nighter. Now X loses a dining package sale and so we plan on just one dinner in the Tuscan grill hoping they still have the beef carpaccio and a decent steak.
  19. I just tried to book a 4 night specialty dining package for our upcoming 9 night sailing on the Equinox for the 2 of us. The response says "we're stuffed, reservations are currently not available" But it allows me to book it for only 1 of us with a time of 3:00 pm. How silly is that? 3:00 pm for what? where? It's been years since we sailed on X which used to be one of our favorites but does this mean our first nights reservation for whatever restaurant will be at 3:00 pm? I'm able to book a 5 night package which we really don't want, but is that just X's way of forcing us to do that? Has anyone else had this happen? I'll call X in a little while when they open, in the mean time I'll hold 1 reservation for my husband and take the chance that if they have a table for 1 available then they can fit one more and if only 3:00 pm is available I'll just cancel the package all together, we shall see.
  20. We've sailed on Carnival twice but only because the departure port was in my daughter's city and we could drive there. On the 2nd cruise we saw that the very large bouncers in the nightclub were armed! We had never seen bouncers in a ship's nightclub before, let alone carrying guns. What do they expect to happen that they would need to be armed? We left soon after and didn't go back. To the club or Carnival.
  21. Thanks wrk2cruise, that's good to know.🙂
  22. We have selected late seating on Equinox in April and have requested our usual table for 2 but want to avoid those tables that are lined up inches away from other 2 tops. Our last sailing on the Connie we had the center 2 top on upper level overlooking the dining room below which we loved. We know it's a different class of ship but I don't see anything like that on the Equinox. Wondering if anyone has had a 2 top late seating on the Equinox, what level will be seated and are the 2 tops crammed together? Looking at the dining room layouts it doesn't look good for tables for 2. Would a 4 top be more private? Thanks in advance for any input.
