  1. I will be able to tell you in mid-November 🙂 I am going on my first Celebrity cruise, with a purpose. The health spa I used to go to every year closed down and I was looking for an economical replacement. I got a solo supplement sale price for an Aqua suite at about a third the price of any of the health spas in our state. My objective is to see if Aqua class is a good substitute. I tend to take full advantage of all the benefits and I anticipate my difficulty may be my self control to avoid the food that will be available versus what we were served at the spa. I doubt there is a potassium broth break (!), but I want to make good choices at Blu and the spa cafe. I intend to write up some notes to post since I didn't get much advice or feedback when I asked about this before I booked (I think most people thought it was a joke).
  2. Smmessineo, I don't think the posters are upset about people who drink, they are upset about people who get way past drunk and then are rude to hard working staff members and others who are trying to have a great time in an adult manner. I don't drink, but I have a sister who can go way overboard and get SO LOUD (her husband has to carry her off on occasion). She's not usually rude (except to family), but she can be quite embarrassing (I don't know that lady, as I skulk off in another direction).
  3. Hi and thanks in advance! For those of you who have worked out in the Solstice gym, is there room to grab some weights and work out with some space, or, is it so tight, that you have to be on a machine or stand in a corner? I have a standard workout I'd like to do, but need room to use a mat. I know some ships have a separate, empty room or larger space where you can set up.
  4. They had really cute desserts in the dining room with a Halloween theme. We also cruised during October, not Halloween week and they had costume night.
  5. The shop on board is a duty free shop - the same as if you purchased it at the airport or on land. You are supposed to declare it, but I doubt if very many people do. You get it the night before disembarkation. You can order bottles from room service for your room, I seem to remember they were slightly more expensive than ordering pre-cruising, just like sodas, etc.
  6. My husband took the barbque class on the Panorama. Be aware that if what you are preparing takes a long time to cook, they will serve it to you that night in whatever dining room you are eating at. We had reserved the Asian restaurant for that night and about the time we were stuffed, they brought us a brisket! We gave some to the folks seated around us. The pie class is also done like this. Next week, we're scheduled for the pasta class, but since that is quick cook, it will be our lunch.
  7. We explore the entire ship. Start at the top and work our way down, stopping where ever the specialty coffee bar is. Then, we find something to eat, usually ANYWHERE other than the buffet. This time, I'd like to try the Mongolian Wok if it's not too busy. Plans are sometime altered by late boarding.
  8. We stay at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa. NCL used to use it as their pre and post cruise hotel and what was great about that is you could do all you check in there, get your room key, book any reservations, etc. there. I don't think they do that anymore, but we still like the hotel and are staying there in December before our next POA cruise (it will be our third).
  9. We have cruised out of Long Beach for about 35 years and been on just about every ship that goes out of there - can't think of one we haven't at the moment. Panorama is vastly different than the Radiance and the Miracle. I can't say we had bad times on the Radiance and Miracle, we knew the ships, no specialty restaurants, smaller, etc., the Panorama is a fairly new ship (we went on one of their first cruises) with lots of specialty restaurants, bars, outdoor spaces set up to enjoy the outdoors more. We are booked on the 9/3 cruise and I am looking forward to trying her again. Also, understand that no ship seems to be up to pre-pandemic level, mostly due to lower staffing, but that will be any ship, any line.
  10. The first year the Panorama was in the water, I wanted to book a Havana suite. I thought I did, but the website wasn't really clear at that time and we ended up with an aft Havana balcony instead. Although the balcony was great, I was not a fan of the cabin layout. There was no couch, only a small chair and it just felt cramped and small. It also wasn't on the same deck as the Havana area, so not as easy access to the pool, etc. as I thought when we originally booked. Did make me book another trip though 🙂 We are booked in a Havana suite for the September 3rd Panorama cruise and I all really looking forward to it! I would not spend the extra money to book another Havana aft cabin again.
  11. I am going in November by myself. I usually go to a health spa to celebrate my milestone birthdays and decided to try a solo cruise for my 65th. I am going with a "theme" in mind - I am going to make it as health-spa like as possible. I've reserved spa appointments, plan on doing the fitness classes, walking the decks to get steps in, trying all the healthy eating options, etc. I'm plan on pampering myself as much as possible 🙂
  12. Hello! Thank you in advance and yes, I did try searching for this 🙂 On the pre-purchased coffee card, it says it is not good for coffees purchased in any licensed Starbucks. We are in on the Navigator of the Seas. Where do you purchase specialty coffees if not at the Starbucks? I watched a couple of youtube videos trying to figure it out and I couldn't.
  13. They offered a 15% discount on pre-booked dining on our cruise. You can also go for lunch which is less expensive.
  14. Thank you everyone! I agree that cruise ship prices are high, but I live in a very small town and don't have the opportunity to indulge myself unless on vacation. I also have found that if I write on the form they make you fill out before your treatment that I don't want to hear about or buy any products, I don't get any sale pitches, it does make it a much more pleasant way to end the experience. If you pre-book, they add the tip when you book, so you get time to forget about the price before your voyage 🙂
  15. Thank you! I have pre-booked for the first sea day because I know that's a popular treatment day, but since I'm not interested in the ports on this particular cruise, I am hoping I can get appointments for port days. I know other lines offer discounts on those days, but free is even better 🙂 Maybe I can win something -
  16. Just booked my first Celebrity cruise - got the great solo sale price! Wondering if Celebrity does a spa raffle on day one? Thank you - looking forward to trying a new line for me, I'll probably have all sorts of dumb questions between now and November.
  17. I have done it befored, ordered decorations and gifts for others.
  18. We went for Christmas the year before the pandemic. We did have a good time, however what we noticed on the negative side is it was a lot more crowded, big families, lots of kids on sugar overload and excitement. That's OK, I'm sure they were having a wonderful time and creating great family memories, but for two 60-ish adults, it sometimes got to be too much and we retreated to our cabin. I booked the main dining room for Christmas dinner, hoping for something special and it was the biggest disappointment, dinner was not good, the "fruitcake" was anything but, it just was a lackluster, rushed, noisy meal where they brought the wrong food for multiple courses. Should have booked the steakhouse or another specialty restaurant. Loved the decorations and it was a "once and done" experience for us. I am thinking of trying an all inclusive adults resort to check that out.
  19. We get couple's massages solely for the price reduction. Don't know why they are cheaper, probably because most people book individual services. We don't talk during them, we pretty much ignore each other, my husband sometimes falls asleep and snores 🙂 Of course, we did just celebrate (?) our 37th wedding anniversary, we pretty much ignore each other all the time anyway.
  20. All you have to do to get them to skip the sales pitch at the end is write on your form you have to fill out before your treatment that you are not interested in hearing about or buying any products. Both my husband and I do this and no more sales pitch. Vacation is the only time we get spa services (small town) so we always take advantage. It is less expensive to get a couples treatment rather than two separately booked ones. Also, port days are slightly less expensive than sea ones.
  21. We bring the flavor drops, you can use for water or club soda. My husband will use the tropical flavored ones with rum and water to make cocktails. They have lemonade, various fruit flavors, coconut, etc. in the grocery store.
  22. The first year the Panorama was in the water, we got one of the Havana aft cabins. We really enjoyed the balcony, but not the cabin so much. I didn't like the layout and it seemed cramped. There was no couch, just a chair and neither of us enjoy sitting on the bed while we're in the cabin. It was on the deck above the Havana pool area. This year, I snagged one of the Havana suites, my understanding is there are only four on the Panorama. I got it quite a while ago, when there was a good sale and no one seemed to be booking for my husband's birthday. It looks pretty spacious and I hope we'll have a much better experience.
  23. We watched the table next to us have it. We decided it wasn't for us - just too much food by the end of the meal to want all that dessert. Sometimes, we ask if they will deliver our desserts to our room so we can have it much later, just too much food to also enjoy dessert at the table.
  24. Thanks for the link. Gweneth Paltrow is working with Celebrity and created a Goop program for them. There will be a Goop cruise in Europe, but my understanding is they have also come up with a program for their ships, one aspect of is supposed to be in room television programming. That is what I am asking about is if anyone has experience with that, have they seen what is offered on the in room TV.
  25. In reading the description of GOOP activities on the Celebrity website, there's info on GOOP classes via the TV in the room. Does anyone know what these are? Is it yoga? I know on other lines, they often have a morning stretch class, but I was wondering if the programming on Celebrity was more extensive, like if there is a GOOP channel. Thank you for any information you may have.
