  1. My “dressy” sandals are Vionic. Black patent (low heel) and very comfortable. Long gone are the days when I sashayed around in my stilettos. I have to admit, I loved them and so did DH! lol
  2. I’m not even taking my phone, just my iPad. Hubby will take phone only for emergencies. We’ll do exactly the same as we’ve always done. Go to a bar and order a drink. I don’t need food delivered to our cabin, we can pick up snacks at IC or the grill or the pizza place and take back with us. I love old school ways…makes me nostalgic for our early cruising years.
  3. Nothing is more comfy than Birkenstocks with cozy socks on a cold day. In many parts of Europe if you don’t wear socks with your Birkies you’ll get strange looks. I’ll be wearing my pink ones on our British Isles cruise in September.
  4. Got it! I hope you’re successful. Have a great cruise!
  5. You should post this on your roll call board where others on your sailing would be interested in arranging a new excursion. Good luck!
  6. Yes, DH would enjoy that! Wow, the price, though…….$220.00 Canadian. Sorry. no. He can look at this lovely photo instead…..thank you.
  7. Yes, that outfit will be perfect! Don’t worry, just have fun. I have a pair of black velvet flowy pants that only go on cruises paired with a couple of blingy tops. Add a bit of jewelry and that’s it. Ladies just don’t want to wear cocktail dresses or gowns anymore, so I’m slowly learning to transition.
  8. Two favs for me. Grey Goose (GG Orange if they have it) with tonic, float 2 orange slices. Hendricks with cucumber tonic and loads of ice. I don’t enjoy sweet frou frou drinks at all. My DH only drinks Scotch (Macallan, preferably) neat. Whispering Angel Rose at dinner for me and DH drinks some red stuff. That’s it. The most boring drinkers you will ever meet.
  9. Well, I’ve finished reading your report (regrettably) and ooohed and ahhhhed over your fabulous photos. I can only say “wow”! One of the absolute best trip reports I’ve read on these boards. This itinerary was really never on my bucket list but you can bet it is now! You brought it all to life for us and I’m truly grateful for being taken along on your journey. Great job and I’m already looking forward to your next one!
  10. We seldom eat in the buffet, even for breakfast or lunch and never for dinner, just not our thing. However, the MDR suits us just fine. The food is good to very good and we’re always satisfied. We like a more elegant setting with tablecloths and nice dinnerware and being served by the lovely waitstaff, but that’s just us. For breakfast and lunch, either the MDR or The International Cafe and the outdoor grill has some nice offerings, too. We book our dining times prior to sailing (prefer a nice table for two by the window) at 7pm and have always managed to have our requests granted. If you’re flexible for desired times to dine, you’ll probably not have an issue with long wait times. Have a wonderful cruise onboard Discovery Princess!
  11. Sorry, can’t help you but I was delighted to read your title and your intentions. Not enough people giving praise these days. Thank you.
  12. The OP said that was not the case as did not purchase FCC. Post #8
  13. No, the gratuity is included in the Plus or Premium packages. No need to tip twice.
  14. Our British Isles sailing in September is sold out in all mini suites and full suites. A few balconies spread around and a decent amount of interiors. We booked our mini suite 11 months ago, which is actually late booking for us. Some are on a guarantee and some you can choose your cabin.
  15. This makes me smile. We’re such typical Canadians, always wanting to do the right thing and not offend anyone. Don’t worry, you’ll be just fine, just do what your gut tells you. I can tell your heart is in the right place and you will have a wonderful time!
  16. Actually, I wasn’t directing my comments to the OP, just generally speaking. Of course, you are correct about the packages.
  17. Sorry, you’re not feeling well! Food poisoning usually doesn’t manifest itself that quickly after eating something “off”. Could it have been something you ate earlier in the day? Drink lots of fluids, as that will help flush things out. Try eating light meals today and nothing before retiring at night. I hope you feel better soon and you can get out and get those steps in! Loving your report…thanks for taking us along!
  18. It’s easy, really. Leave on the auto tips and let Princess distribute them as they and the crew have contracted. Give extra cash to those who have gone above your expectations and you feel deserve the recognition. Perhaps, offer a little something to the people who deliver your room service orders, even if only a couple of dollars. It’s completely up to you and you won’t be judged if you just leave the auto tips in place and choose not to give extra cash. It’s your vacation and your money, so enjoy yourself. If you should decide to remove the auto tips, then we’re gonna have a problem. Please don’t do that.
  19. Not only should you not worry about it, don’t even think about it! When you arrive to board none of the app stuff matters. No stress, just enjoy your cruise!
  20. They are there now for 2024. Found them immediately on the Princess website.
  21. We’ve been using the same CVP for years and have never had any issues. She’s extremely knowledgeable, professional and prompt to return my calls. I call and leave a message as to what I would like and she calls back to say she’s taken care of it. Why are people trying to do it all themselves when help is only a phone call away and it’s completely free! Please, do yourselves a favour and get a CVP or a good travel agent. You don’t have to go through this!
  22. We can only hope! Regardless, have a wonderful time! Throw up a shower curtain if need be.
  23. I did some searching around for photos or videos of Ruby mini suites on D deck on Google and YouTube and I cannot find one that shows a curtain separating the cabin. Curtains only on the window. Princess agents would likely not have a clue. If I were you and if it’s that important I would look around before being convinced it’s there. I would love to be pleasantly surprised!
