  1. We seem to book mostly excursions that are full day, so lots of lunches are off the ships. We’ve never had a problem with MDR lunches. We also like to pick up a few things from the IC and eat lunch on our balcony with a glass of wine. Alfredo’s is also a nice place to eat lunch. Buffets are just not our thing, but I know others love it.
  2. We’re 3 star Mariners on HAL and we also cruise Princess and Celebrity (which is still our #1 go to line). We love the Pinnacle class ships, but have found their itineraries to be same old, same old. We’re also sailing on Regal in September in the British Isles and I know we’ll love it. Liking forward to hearing your perspective! We’ve always enjoyed the Royal class ships and I’m sure you will, too.
  3. Most huskies that are rescued are mixed breed, not pure bred such as Siberian huskies and Malamutes. The Alaskan bred huskies are no different than the ones we foster. I could share many stories about these dogs in Alaska but this is neither the time or place for that. You’ve made some good points about service dogs. Many of those pups, unfortunately, are not suitable for the job and are then given to good homes as family pets. Please just be considerate and kind and gentle when handling the pups. I’m currently fostering a pregnant Samoyed who was chained to a fence before being rescued. If you want to see husky puppies, come to my house! lol
  4. We retired a few years ago and traded the city life for the country life. We decided to foster rescued Samoyeds and huskies. We know their temperament very well and I can assure you that the puppies on the ship, with so many people and strange smells, will be experiencing anxiety and fear. Please do not grab at them, squeeze them or attempt to kiss their faces. Give them space and and try not to raise your voice. I completely understand the excitement of seeing these babies, but I wish they didn’t do it. A frightening experience at this age can last a lifetime. As a “mom” to many of these dogs over the years, I have become very protective of this very special breed of dog.
  5. Thank you for your reply. I’m glad there is a dining venue that suits your needs. To each their own and luckily we all have choices.
  6. The buffet on HAL ships is strictly no touch and has been for years. I assume Princess changed things after the shut down. We occasionally visited HAL ships for lunch, but even then it just wasn’t appealing to us. I doubt if we’ll bother on our Princess cruises.
  7. We haven’t done buffets in years. We just don’t get the attraction. Is it because you can fill up the plates? Is it because if you don’t like it, you don’t eat it and just get something else? We would much rather sit down and have someone serve us what we want. Nobody has handled the serving utensils a hundred times. Nobody has dipped their fingers in the sauce to make sure they like it. Nobody has picked up a plate and then put it back in the stack. So many reasons to go elsewhere. I realize that some people enjoy the buffet and that’s great for them. I’m glad we all have so many choices when it comes to dining.
  8. I can assure you that this is not happening on a Princess ship. No need to be concerned.
  9. The beds are two twins pushed together. Definitely not king size, though.
  10. So sad “our” journey has come to an end. I feel as if I was with your family and now we’re saying goodbye. Thank you so much for your awesome review. It is the bestest of the best!
  11. Only applies to the specialty restaurants. However, once onboard you could always ask for an exception. Don’t get your hopes up, though.
  12. Yes, but formal wear is no longer required in the dining rooms. The menus will be slightly elevated such as small lobster tails. Not really an event anymore, just basically the same old, same old.
  13. Let me introduce you to my little friend Karma. lol
  14. There are a couple of threads currently on page one with all the info and photos that you want. Check out @JimmyVWineand @Steelers0854. Both members have printed out menus for the MDR. These two reviews are chocked full of excellent information and they’re extremely well done.
  15. Never sailed on Majestic, but we have not had any noise issues on the other Royal class ships. The Retreat Pool on Sundeck is very quiet at night. We also have sailed on Marina deck if Lido is unavailable. The Lido deck cabins sell out quickly.
  16. We only book mini suites and we try to get the ones on Lido deck. Very convenient during the day and at night they are surprisingly quiet.
  17. And cheers to you, as well! We’ll be in Edinburgh, Invergordon and Glasgow in September. Can’t wait!
  18. Just shows us that Covid is still alive and well. Hope you stay healthy on your cruise.
  19. You are so right! My grown sons are always dressed well. If you believe what you read here, everybody wears shorts and baseball caps to dinner because Princess doesn’t care anymore. Certainly, not my experience.
  20. It’s actually called “Haggis, Neeps and Tatties”. Neeps are the veggies in Scotland that are swedes (what we call rutabaga). I had no idea, but my DH explained it to me. Loving your review….keep it coming!
  21. There is no such thing as too many cruises! We’ll be in your neck of the woods in September and we can’t wait.
  22. I doubt if you would be allowed to bring non alcoholic whiskey onboard. You could call and ask Princess, but not likely you’d get the right answer. Worst case scenario is that it would be held until you disembark and then returned to you.
