I have had my Nexus for over 10 years and on the last renewal, I had to go through the Canada interview, the US interview, and do the fingerprints again.   If you are called for interview, then you will have to do that.

Ugh but thanks for the information, let’s hope there  is not a line up at 4:30am.

This was for a new application. I agree why take a new set of fingerprints, but if they follow all other government protocols for identification, then I would suspect that everything would have to be new. Technology is constantly changing with regards to digital identification, and this may be the reason for new updated photos and fingerprints. Passports also need new photos, even for a renewal as do our provincial driver’s licenses. Perhaps someone who has completed the Nexus Renewal interview recently will post.

Well I haven’t had a new picture in 10 yrs & wish I did as I never liked my photo, but they renewed mine, lol.

Probably doesn’t help with time needed at YYZ for the second portion of the interview but in Halifax recently it was about 15 minutes with the agent. I suspect that this is pretty standard amount of time needed to complete the interview as they have to review your application, and also take digital fingerprints. My husband was with another agent as I was doing my interview and we both took 15 minutes. Then the agent took us to the Nexus kiosk and we went through the process there. My husband came up green, meaning he was authorized and complete, but my fingerprints didn’t go through as fast and I got a red light, meaning not authorized as of yet. The agent said she would keep my file open until she saw that it was finalized. It took another couple of hours and then I got an email saying “your status has changed” . It was 30 minutes in total from when we entered the interview area. But we were the only ones waiting for the interview.

Was this for a Nexus Renewal or is this a new application?  We have had our Nexus cards for 10 yrs but my husband has to do an interview, so I don’t see why they would have to take finger prints & photo all over again.

Maybe, I’ve just never experienced that in 15+ cruises on multiple cruise lines.

Also, we weren’t provided a paper bill like on previous cruises.  It was just emailed and had I not opened the PDF, I would have missed the charge.  It makes you wonder if they’re just sneaking it on there.  Just a reminder to look at your bill 🙂

We check our bill on the Tv in our cabin & take a picture of the final on the tv, last morning of the cruise.

Hope you have had your Canadian interview first and already?

You must do that first before the US interview.

The actual interview is going to have a range of time based on if there are any "issues" that they want to discuss.

I had a discrepancy in name from Nexus to Passport that they corrected - FINALLY.

They also questioned me about travels to North Korea when I had not been there, but had travelled to South Korea.  I question if that was a real error in my record or if they were testing me?  I don't know why they would test that, but in any case, because of these two things, I may have been a longer interview.

I think in total I was 10 minutes in front of the agent.  It is pretty straight forward.

The only factor may be how backed up they are, and how long you might wait to get to see an agent.

Thank you for your reply.  Yes my DH has had his CDN interview & they told us 5% are picked at random for the interviews.  This is his 2nd Nexus renewal so not sure about that,  I guess it depends on how many people are ahead of him. Plus they don’t open until 4:30 & our flight is at 6:15am.  Would have chosen a later flight had we known.

Monday, my DH had his appt at the airport which was great but that is not the end of it.  You have to have your US CBP interview same day as your next flight you cannot make an appointment, this would be fine but our flight in January is at 6:15am  & US Customs does not open until 4;30am.  If there are a few people ahead of you doing the same it could create problems for your flight..  The good news is he has until next year to renew his card so worst case would be to drive to Buffalo.   When you get your new card don’t forget to activate it on the Govt site or it will show not activated to the US CBP.

Actually we found out that if you do your CDN CBP interview at the airport, you have to do your US CBP interview at the airport leaving on a flight to the US same day.   No driving to the border to get it done, not allowed.

Yes, thank you @Fouremco, we’ll be watching our mail as well although we haven’t received a second approval confirmation.
Don't know why they don’t get Amazon to do the deliveries…would’ve had it the next day 🤣🤣

    Cathy

Make sure you did not get mail same day requesting an interview.  My DH received a Conditional Approval in Nov but on re-reading the mail received at the same time, it appears he has to have an interview.  So off to the airport we go on Monday.  At least we don’t have to wait a long time for interview.

Connecting in Montreal from Toronto, for international flight. How much time should we allow ?

We had to go through Montreal as our flight to Boston was cancelled.  It was like going back in time.  Leave lots of time to go through security.

I have not yet received them. I assume they will need to be signed for, but haven't gotten anything yet. I still have 5 weeks until we travel so I hope they arrive before then!

The Nexus renewal is sent by snail mail & does not have to be signed for.  DH applied for his on June 8th & has still not received it, it’s also a 2nd renewal but he has a very common name. I applied last Nov & received mine in July, you receive an acceptance email first.

We are Zenith and refuse to pay twice for beverages and WiFi !!!

Totally agree, I would love to have Aqua class on our upcoming cruises but I not want to pay for something that is already free,

I have heard there are many cars stolen near Toronto airport' any advice on what hotel is fairly safe to park  and stay that have enclosed security parking 24 hours a day?  If not, which economy parking lot is best at Toronto airport?  Thanks

We have always stayed at the Marriott Airport as they have underground parking & airport shuttle.  Price has gone up but sometimes worth it in the winter weather.

No. not our experience in the past!  . At least 10xs.   Since reservation is Canadian dollars, everything is Canadian dollars.   Even contacting AC and doing seat selection plus baggage, always Canadian dollars.   This is the first time this has happened.   An AC rep said the FBC agent changed it from Canadian to US.     (and when I spoke to a 2nd agent at FBC, he indicated dealing with AC should be in Canadian)

Interesting, when we have booked the seats online it changes to US pricing.  Maybe we should have been calling it in.  Thx.

Agree. we never had an issue booking with Choice Air/FBC  in the past.   This last time was a nightmare. Think we had a new person as when I called back, I had a different person and a different answer.  Air Canada it seems, you have to deal with directly to do seat selection.

a word of advice.  Make sure the CA/FBC rep doesnt change your reservation to US dollars.  Ours did so even baggage, flying out of Toronto, was charged US $.    again. probably a newbie

When you book a flight with Air Canada through Celebrity Air if your booking is in CDN $ the flight will be also.  When booking the seats & baggage through Air Canada as you cannot book them through Celebrity they are always charged in US $ as Celebrity Air is a US based consolidator.  There is no choice.

Air Canada has a flight about every hour to Vancouver, but unfortunately Celebrity air doesn’t have access to them all.  If you are before final payment maybe you should think about not using Celebrity Air & deal directly with Air Canada. When using Celebrity Air you have to be pretty flexible.

I would be tempted to go back to Celebrity Air & a different person might have a better answer.  Explain that Air Canada said it would be no problem to change. It’s worth a try, good luck!

We booked one way tickets from Pittsburgh to Vancouver last July when Celebrity was running an airfare credit promotion.  Originally, the flight was to arrive at 11:36 pm on Thursday night, the day before the cruise.  I booked a nearby hotel with a shuttle that runs until 12:30 am.  Three times Air Canada has changed the flight arrival time, moving it later until now we are arriving at 12:51 am Friday morning, so now we will have to pay for a taxi/uber to the hotel.  Three times I have requested Flights by Celebrity to ask Air Canada to change our flights to arrive  before midnight and three times Air Canada has refused (per Flights by Celebrity).   I have spoken with an Air Canada agent who says that it should be allowed since they changed the flight times, but Flights by Celebrity says that when they submit the request due to schedule changes, Air Canada denies the request.  Now, prices for flights from our departure airport to Vancouver are through the roof and the flights we are on don't even show up as a selection.  I'm guessing it is just a very busy travel day and with the discounted flight, Air Canada won't even bother.  I won't be choosing Air Canada in the future, especially if using a travel agent.  I'm happy to be cruising and will just take a nap as soon as I get on board!

    Well that was a first!

My wife and I were relaxing on our balcony and our stateroom attendant finished cleaning the room and stepped out to make sure we did not need anything.  We assured him that everything was great. He left and we continued to talk to each other.

My wife got up to get something from the room only to find the balcony door locked. Apparently out stateroom attendant had locked it from force of habit when he closed the door after speaking to us.

Fortunately we are on the starboard side and I was able to shout and get the attention of a crew member on the dock who contacted our stateroom attendant.  A very embarrassed young man came and let us back into the room!

We had that happen to us on the Millennium on our April 8th cruise.  I think the room stewards have been told to automatically lock the door.  They just sometimes forget that we are out there.
