We're carrying off in a couple days and picked a 10-10:20a slot on the App an hour ago. It's totally analogous to how one picks your arrival slot. Our flight isn't until late afternoon so we have time to kill. All good.

First morning after embarkation is fine. Do note that turnaround will be 24 hours minimum on any cruise with high Plat passengers. I've seen it at 48 -72 hours on Journeys. So have enough underwear!

I agree with @mz-s. Cruising as an industry is changing with big ships going to a few tightly controlled ports becoming the norm for the 3-4 big mass market lines. I think the belief is that such a strategy vastly increases the potential customer base. Other lines will continue to serve the traveler market.

There are pros and cons. Biggest pros are typically more exotic ports and a more mature passenger manifest. Cons are often a much older ship (Conquest, for example) a very homogeneous pax cruise style (MDR is totally jammed at 5:30) and a lot of scooters. I love getting away for 14 nights. In my personal opinion, unless rare ports are part of the cruise, a B2B is a better idea. On our recent Journey we got to Dominica and Grenada so it was worth it.

Having too many that qualify certainly is a huge factor. They are going to find creative ways to trim that down. Journeys will always have more of course so the impact there will be marginal.

I'm going to guess that won't be the case. The problem Carnival currently has is that far too many cruisers have achieved Platinum, for example, meaning that far too often things like priority embarkation/tenders needs to be eliminated. When ALL have priority, none do. I do think folks will be given the 'opportunity' to be grandfathered. 'If you haven't sailed with us in 5 years you still have a chance in the next year to retain your VIFP status' kind of thing.

Exactly correct. John addressed this in a video chat yesterday. I will add that he said that he has ZERO info. He doesn't even mention what might be on the table. But they do need to cull the herd. Possible options (nothing JH said): - partial spend based - VIFP points expiry - portability - altered VIFP levels - altered level rewards - etc.

None of that will exist. She isn't even sailing as a Carnival ship yet. Your best alternative is to read Panorama threads for itinerary info and Venezia threads for menu items as there is a subtle difference for the two Italian themed ships. Enjoy.
