  1. What number did you use to call? The only one I've ever seen is if you want to book a cruise.
  2. I would have been fine with a gift card to spend on the April cruise I intended to take. What a shame that there is not a human being to contact over this issue. The humorous part is the only e-mail you can write to is "icare@canival......" and you get an immediate response that they will look into your inquiry within 45 days. Got 2 of them already.
  3. Another update as I wait for my $200 refund due me from Oct 1 cruise. When I contacted Capital 1 to dispute $171 of the refund because the cancelled excursion was purchased through them, they credited my account for that amount pending a response from CCL. Shortly after CCL responded with their form letter to Cap 1 "that goods were as described and received in good condition". $171 was now back on my credit card with the notice that I could dispute. I sent 10 pages of docs to support the fact that the excursion was cancelled including my last day 10/8 sail & sign statement. Now the $171 credit is back on but when CCL sends them another form letter, it'll go back on my account. We had planned a repeat of this cruise April 2023 but CCL will never see me again. This would have given me platinum status but this is not a company to which I want to give any more money. This is my advice if you have a credit pending on your final day of cruising, just go to the stores and spend it because you will never see it again. Is this any way to run a business?
  4. Just an update.......Carnival ought to be ashamed and if I believed the Better Business Bureau pulled any weight, I'd contact them. Now it's just the point. I called VISA again and started a disputed charge for $199. They have tentatively credited my account while they wait to hear from CCL. My T.A. called CCL and after bouncing around to 3 different useless people, she was told they are short staffed and I'll just have to wait. How come the "short staffed" only applies to credits but bills get processed within a week. So from my 10/1 cruise to the 10/25 form letter telling me I need to wait at least 45 days, it will take 3 months to receive my credit. This is a terrible way to treat customers when charges on your credit card appear in a nanosecond. It appears I just need to practice patience. My purpose in writing this update is in the hope that CCL will apologize for their lack of business acumen and to credit my VISA. BTW I'm a loyal customer and one credit away from platinum status.
  5. The excursion was cancelled the night before Amber Cove ($171). The VISA credit does show on Sail & Sign along with another small credit, so my final statement states Carnival owes me $199. I appreciate all the good advice. I will contact Capital One again.
  6. We were so happy that we didn't have to walk that we gladly gave the bike taxi $5 each way. There were plenty of "taxis" waiting so no hastle. We really had a great time and it was free except we paid for an umbrella about $25.
  7. I am due a $200 refund that should be credited to my VISA bill but Carnival has figured out a way to avoid the conversation. An excursion on my 10/1/22 cruise was cancelled and I expected to see the credit on next bill but it didn't happen. I keep checking my VISA bill but no luck. I tried calling Carnival but that's a joke unless you want to book a cruise. I finally e-mailed their customer care and got a instant reply that they will get back to me in the next 45 days! This sounds like something that could have happened before computers but now it's borderline scam. Any ideas?
  8. It's been since 10/8 and we never received the survey. I called Carnival and got this link to send a complimentary message. The woman said not everyone gets a survey but they were sure pushing it while on the Legend. The link is guestcare@Carnival.com. Not sure why it isn't not coming up as a hyperlink but I did get an automatic response when I sent it.
  9. Just there Oct 6 and no damage whatsoever. It's a very long walk (senior citizens) from ship to Amber Cove but they have pedi cabs available in both directions for a tip. Wonderful stop and loads of fun.
  10. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your ports. Are you stopping at both? Just know that they are at opposite ends of the country. Carnival had 2 catamaran excursions at Amber Cove but ours was cancelled due to inclement weather. The facility that they built at Amber Cove was totally awesome so we were happy that we saved close to $200 and had a great day.
  11. Please check a map because LaRomana and Amber Cove are at opposite ends of the Dominican with hundreds of miles in between. Make sure you know where your ship is docking. The closest city to Amber Cove in the North is Puerta Plata.
  12. The shoreline at Amber Cove is all rocky with no beach access; however, the amenities available complements of Carnival were awesome. It was a great day spent there in spite of our Catamaran excursion being cancelled. Think Margaritaville.
  13. There is a list in some of the bars of various drinks and their cost. Most mixed drinks and wine seemed to be in the $10.50 area. At that price the Cheers package is not a bad deal especially if it's offered free when you book as I did.
  14. I just got off the Legend and commented to my partner that I never even got a buzz on. I'm a light drinker ordinarily and the Cheers Package was a bonus at the time I booked. I was drinking at least 6 drinks a day so I came to consider that the drinks were watered down. Some times I just got a Ginger Ale and Vodka and still never felt a little bit drunk. Had a blast anyway and enjoyed every second.
  15. I was on that voyage and it was very scary. I still don't understand why the captain chose to head to Bermuda even though the hurricane was bearing down on it. After more than a dozen cruises and another one where there were hurricances in the Caribbean, I never experienced anything like it. For that cruise the captain just moved the port days around and we had sunshine all the way. I guess I'll never know.
  16. I'm on Legend 10/1 and my T.A. booked us for "Early Dining". I really wanted YTD and thought I could change it but it doesn't seem possible. My T.A. also tried but couldn't. Any ideas on how I can make it happen please? Is it worth asking the MaitreD once onboard?
  17. I mailed my info on 7/26 and received an e-mail confirming the $100 credit on 8/16. It was also listed in my account on the same day.
  18. It was 3 weeks yesterday since I applied via mail for my onboard credit for having CCL stock, should I be concerned. This will be my 12th Carnival cruise and I was denied in January so I really hope they don't find a way to deny it this time. Is there a way to contact them to inquire?
  19. You are so right about the testing BS. Give us back our freedom. Hope it happens with Carnival before my 10/1/22 trip.
  20. As you indicated the current travel problems are horrendous which is why we're going out of Baltimore. Flew to Miami in January for a cruise and our outgoing flight was canceled so I was lucky we had decided to fly the day before the cruise. The return flight to PHL was canceled every 45 minutes so our 1:30 flight never left until 6:30 which got us home just in time for an ice storm. It's now a choice between an interesting itinerary out of FL or a less stressful but boring one locally. My stresser now is the idiotic testing because for our January cruise, the results didn't come back in time from CVS so we had to pay $100 each to get tested at Carnival's Miami terminal. BTW thanks for another great review.
  21. Thank you for the thorough review since I'm sailing from Baltimore on 10/1. It doesn't make me anxious to go on this ship even though I knew it was older. How was the trip down the Chesapeake? How was the crowd in the Serenity area on sea days? Did you eat in the Steak house and was it worth the price? On my last few cruises I've found that the entertainment is not what it used to be and the venues are half full. The only great entertainment were the violinists.
  22. I filled it out yesterday. I'm heading to Half Moon Cay and Amber Cove in October.
  23. Honolulu Blue, awesome information so thank you. I'm feeling pretty stupid that I couldn't find it myself. This site has the most informed people ever.
  24. I'm trying to find out if CCL's Baltimore terminal has back-up Covid testing for those whose results haven't arrived by time of boarding. I was forced to do this at Miami's terminal in January for $100 but the alternative was missing our cruise. Nothing mentioned on the Baltimore terminal's website. Any suggestions on how to get this info. I don't feel comfortable doing the proctor thing because I'm not too techie and I'm still trying to find a rapid test place in NJ. Let this testing drama go away please.
  25. I've been on a dozen Carnival cruises and never saw a staffer doing anything to remedy chair hogs. It's such a selfish practice.
